Jaquin's bluish-gray eyes stared into a nonexistent universe as he contemplated the many paths he could take after graduating from Hogwarts. The first option was to become an auror, as Jaquin was an exceptional duelist and had a flare for the art of shooting spells at other wizards or witches. His second alternative was to become a biologist or practitioner of medicine in the vast, muggle world where he had already been accepted as a student of Harvard Medical School and John Hopkin's University. His last path to a profession would be to join the Ministry of Magic. However, seeing as the wizarding world was currently in a state of entropy, it would not have been a good idea to join in with the troubled Ministry. Jaquin was currently leaning toward the first two choices as he had an affinity for the subjects of biology, medicine, and chemistry. These were his best muggle subjects that he studied privately and whenever he had time at Hogwarts. Of course, the training at Hogwarts leaned toward the first option, which mostly required the implementation of advanced magic. Jaquin blinked his eyes and his focus snapped back into the present.
He was sitting on a chair next to his desk in the 7th year boy's dormitory, which encompassed about a dozen beds set in the circle. Next door was another twelve beds, also for the 7th year Ravenclaw boys. Jaquin got up, pulled his school robes onto his uniform and trudged down the stairs leading up to the dormitory with a bulging school bag slung over his shoulder. Jaquin had just remembered that he was supposed to meet Kamron Leopold, and old friend of his, in the library where Jaquin frequented. He had agreed to meet there the day before, as he rarely saw his old friend. The irritating sounds of loqacious students once again bombarded Jaquin's eardrums as he entered the common room. He had never bothered to tell anyone off because they never listened to him and continued to shout, scream, and converse rapidly, not paying one bit of attention to his words. Jaquin had grown to abhor the more talkative of his house, but never exhibited that feeling on his apathetic complexion. After a brisk five minute walk, Jaquin entered the library, which, thankfully, had a vigilant Madam Pince, who did not allow much talking. Jaquin enjoyed the quietude of the library and almost always went there to rest his mind or to do his homework. He sat down at a table next to the restricted section and waited for Kamron to arrive.
((Sorry about the delay.))

Life seemed to have gotten away with him these past few months. His summer had been filled with muggle courses in math, followed by an into to sociology and another in psychology at an Oxford exchange program. That took up a great deal of his time, and the little free time he could manage his tried to spend with his family and Sydney. His final course at Oxford ended with just enough time to return home and pack everything into his trunk before catching the train back to Hogwarts.
Once adjusting back to the wizarding life he buckled down back into his magical studies, which had been neglected over the summer. He tried to see Syd on occasion, though it had resorted to a few passing waves and smiles. He had hardly managed to see Jaquin, a fellow Ravenclaw who he had met the previous year, since his return back to school. It was a sad thought that he had become too lost in studies to keep connected with one of his best friends. That was the reason that they had finally set some time assigned to meet.
Kamron made his way down the hall toward the library, where he and Jaquin had agreed to meet. He made his way inside, and quietly headed toward the restricted section. As he neared, he saw that Jaquin was already there and he gave his friend a smile before he pulled out a chair and sat down. "It really has been too long."

"A few more weeks and I wouldn't remember your name, Kamron," Jaquin whispered jokingly. "So, how has the summer been for you? I had to work so closely with muggles at a university that I had to give up contact with the wizarding world for a few weeks. My mother and father, of course are just as much in tune with the wizarding world as they are with the muggle world, so communicating with them through the telephone worked very well. I mean, what would the people at the university have thought if I had taken my owl with me? After all, they are supposed to be nocturnal." He paused and looked over toward Madam Pince to ensure that she could not hear them. Jaquin had seen the librarian of Hogwarts beat students into the ground with their own school bags for conversing in loud, racous voices. It was unequivocal that Jaquin did not want that to happen to him and his friend. After making sure that Madam Pince was scrutinizing another group of students with narrowed eyes, Jaquin continued, "You know, you should definitely visit the United States. Things are not that much different there from jolly old England.... Except for their ridiculous American accents. Of course, they thought that I had an accent. I guess it's human nature to think that one is more correct than the other."
Jaquin's gaze shifted out toward Hogwarts grounds as he watched the colossal trees of the Forbidden Forest sway back and forth in unison with the high winds that October usually brought. He could clearly reminisce all the occurences in the last three years that had completely transformed the wizarding world. There was now a full fledged war between Voldemort's forces and the Ministry. Of course, some had come to suspect that the Ministry itself had already become corrupted by Voldemort sympathizers and supporters. When Jaquin had first entered the wizarding world, everything had been tranquil. There had been no signs of dark activities for more than a decade and Voldemort was supposed to be in hiding. But somehow, Voldemort's supporters were able to find him and restore him to power implementing Harry Potter as part of the scheme. Jaquin had read all about what happened on the night back in his fourth year when the Champions of the Triwizard Tournament had entered the maze. He was a bit suspicious at first, but quickly realized that Harry had been right all along. Turning toward Kamron, Jaquin wondered if the war had affected his friend. It had certainly affected the wizarding world greatly. But, because Jaquin had spent most of his time in the US during the summer, he had been cut off from the wizarding world. So, all he knew then were scraps of information passed on to him from his parents.

His arms rested on the table in front of him an he leaned his weight against them so he could be just a bit closer to Jaquin as he told him about how his summer had gone. He had to smile at the similarities between them, but then one was normally formed friendships with people who had some similarities with themselves, or expressed certain qualities that the other held at a certain level of importance, or simple shared values and beliefs. Jaquin was his closet friend at school, other than Sydney, even if he never did get to spend any time with him. For them, it was a love of further learning, and the willingness to enter the muggle world to get it that seemed to have brought them together.
"My summer was spent in the muggle world as well. I took that Psychology course at Oxford we had talked about last year, and math as well. I think you were the one to suggest those to begin with. It was rather interesting actually. I never through myself much of a math person, but they went rather well. It was fascinating to be so surrounded by muggles as well. I never really tried to live the muggle life before." He smiled at his friend, then glanced over his shoulder to see where Madam Pince was. You had to be careful when in the library not to speak over what she considered to be the acceptable level. "Your right about the United States. What an experience it would be! You were considered going to a university there, right?"
