Nathaniel stumbled into the library, his school bag slung over his shoulder. The boy staggered across the room and plopped himself into a chair with a great sigh of relief. He had been that way all day. He supposed he didn't have much sleep last night... Probably served him right for staying up until 4:00 A.M. reading muggle comic books, when he had to get up and get ready for school somewhere around 8:00 A.M. He also guessed that it probably didn't help that he had stayed up rather late the night before. He had surprisingly done pretty good all morning, as for staying awake in class and at least trying to pay attention as his eyelids slowly slid shut. It was just toward the end of the school day that he started to get the way that he currently was in.
Getting back to the matter on hands, he was meant to be studying for a Transfiguration exam coming up that was going to be the next day... and Nathaniel hadn't exactly looked over the books or his notes very much, through the week or so that they were meant to be studying every night...
Nathaniel shrugged as he took his book and the millions of pieces of parchment that he had written his notes down on, and placed them in front of him. As his eyes scanned the pages, he began to get more and more tired... He had now learned that forcing himself to stay awake wasn't one of his best qualities. His eyelids slowly started to slide shut, but he quickly jerked his head backward, trying to wake himself up more. What he really wanted more than anything was to just curl up in his bed and sleep the rest of the day and night away... but he knew that he couldn't do that. The exam was far too important and his grades had been dropping in that particular subject, anyway.
He opened the book again, and began scanning the pages just as he had done a few minutes before. As his eyes moved back and forth, he (again) began to get more and more tired. Finally, giving in to the sleep, he let his head drop onto the book, which was sitting peacefully on the table in front of him, eyes closed.
((Meh, I'm tired myself and I couldn't think of anything else. Sorry that it's not the best as I can do... I don't write as well when I'm tired... ))
