Winter was fast approaching. The weather was proof of that. The old sunny and warm days had turned into gray and chilly days. Today was no exception. There wasn't a speck of sky that was visible through the cover of clouds. Most student's wore long sleeved T-shirts or sweatshirts now under their school robes. Not Pyro. Even though the air was cold and there was a uncomfortable breeze blowing Pyro stood, his shirt and school robes lying folded by a nearby tree. Pyro stood still in the empty courtyard. His eyes shut, enjoying the sensation of the breeze cooling off his body. Pyro took deep breaths, trying to get his breathing back to a regular rhythm. There had been no classes today. Pyro had taken the advantage to go outside to train. The cold air was a great motivator to get his body moving. Not only that but the cold air also kept his body from overheating and getting to sweaty.
Pyro had been out here for nearly two hours going through various drills. He finally felt satisfied with todays workout. He stood there for about five minutes until his breathing was finally back to normal. Pyro sighed in satisfaction and opened his eyes. Looking around he could see that the courtyard was still partly deserted. That was good. Pyro hated to have tons of student's watching him. He gathered his clothes under his arm and headed back toward the castle. Just as Pyro entered the doors and stepped into the stone hallways his stomach gave a tremendous growl. He frowned, it had been a while since he had eaten. Luckily from here the kitchens were on the way to his Common room.
So it was that a few minutes later Pyro was shutting the door to the kitchens, he had a small satchel around his waist that held a few biscuits and a canteen of juice. With his food problem solved Pyro began to walk down the hallways to his common room. The heat of his workout had worn off and Pyro had put on a loose T-shirt to ward of the slight chill of the stone walls. Pyro was feeling pretty good. His life as finally taking a happy turn for once. He remembered back to the end of last year, the dispute with his father, the attack on Hogwarts, followed by the attack in Diagon and than the one on the train. Pyro shook the thoughts away, now was not the time to be dwelling on them.

The pleasant but freezing winter descending it's way over Hogwarts, Katrina felt it and had intelligently wrapped her self up with a scarf and jumper. She could see her breath as she spoke to her acquaintances. She had never been to fond with winter as it was the time when it was hardest to play sports.
Katrina walked down the corridors. Her lesson with Professor Snape had been deviantly harder than she had expected. She walked up the stairs and could hear someone breathing loudly above her. As she started to walk faster she could hear it much louder until she reached a boy.
She could not tell how old he was as he had his back to her, she pushed past him as he arrogantly took up most of the doorway and went closer to the stairs. As she got closer she remembered she had left her bag down in the dungeons by a gargoyle. She remembered this as Professor Snape had asked her to come back in at the moment. She stopped just by the stairs and thought for a while. She really didn't want to go back and face the Slytherins pretending to be all great and interesting but she had to go to transfiguration soon. She turned and walked back to the dungeon entrance where the boy still stood.

Pyro shook himself out of his old memories. He hadn't realized that had been standing in a doorway as his mind traveled back. He was just about to start moving again when something slammed into him and forced him to take a step to the side. He growled in anger just as a girl walked by. He could tell by her robes that she was a Gryffindor. After having pushed past him the girl had continued on her way. Pyro glared at her retreating back, wishing that his eyes could burn holes into her back.
"Hey!" He yelled after her, but she didn't seem to hear him. He was about to go chase her down, but it was not required. After a moment she suddenly came back to view. Pyro put up his arm and placed his hand on the opposite side of the door frame to block her passage. His eyes narrowed at her. "You bumped into me." He said in a low tone. "I demand an apology."

Katrina was started by the fury of the boy, he did not look partically scary or brave. No matter what he thought. As he demanded an applogy, she laughed under her breath. There was no chance, he should have not been standing in the middle of the door way.
"No, now please move," she said calmly, hoping he would just give up, but she had a feeling he might not.
He looked quite strong but she wasn't scared as she knew she was strong herself. She studied the boy, and a boy was a good way to discribe him, he looked like nearly every Slytherin boy she had met.
He looked incredibly arrogant so she didn't want to spend her time hanging near him so she walked past, sneering as she past.

Pyro's eyes narrowed at the abrupt refusal. He could tell easily that she was a Gryffindor by her robes, if the attitude wasn't enough to convince him. Before he could respond she pushed past him and made her way down the hall once more.
Pyro turned with her. She had gotten him into the mood, and now he was going to get a fight out of her. It seemed anger and a show of force wasn't enough to get this girl worked up, but Pyro had played this game many times before.
If that first trick wasn't enough. Maybe a direct insult to her house would. Gryffindors always had such foolish pride when it came to the sanctity of their house. He smirked. "Ahhh I see." He said in a tone that sounded as if he had just come to the realization. "You must be a Gryffindor. You must excuse me. I hadn't identified the stench earlier."
He grinned and leaned his shoulder up against the wall. "So I take it your house's hatred for Slytherins has escalated from the childish "Cold shoulder" to bumping us now, has it?"

Katrina stopped right in her tracks, she never liked being insulted but he had not only insulted her, he had also insulted her house. She had been told there was no point in fighting with anyone, but she was not just going to stand there.
She lifted and turned her head, "Now, listen you boy!" she bellowed but he didn't seem to care about her at all. And in this huge leap of fury she raised her wand and shouted "Expoximise Plancher!"

Pyro smirked in victory as he saw the girl spin around in anger. He prepared himself with a response to whatever she was about to retort with. His smirk quickly turned into a look of shock and surprise as he was now staring at the end of a wand. Pyro managed to notice that the wand was pointed downward, at his feet.
The word "Exposimise" flashed across his mind. He should know what that was! All he cared about now was that the spell was aimed at his feet, and he didn't want to get hit.
Pyro began his leap a split second before the girl shouted out the spell. He felt a weird tingling sensation in his feet for a second and than it was gone. He had barely managed to dodge the spell. Pyro kicked his feet out to the side, thankful that he had been barefoot. Pyro also shoved his hands out to the side. His feet and hands slammed into the door frame and held him suspended above the ground.
Pyro didn't know if the ground was affected by the spell. Turning his hands he grasped the edges of the door frame. He pulled himself and leaped away from the frame. Landing and sliding a bit he looked at the girl with narrowed eyes. With anger welling up inside him now he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wand. "You wanna go! Fine!" He pointed his wand at her, "Expelliarmus!"

Katrina was happy that Pyro was having problems with her spell, she had recently figured out how to use it.
"Expelliarmus!" he shouted and before she could retaliate, her wand flew out of her hand and onto the floor. She breathed heavily watching Pyro. The spell was slowly wearing off and she didn't want to be stuck with no wand so she quickly collapsed onto her hands and knees and scooped up her wand.
She pointed it at him dangerously and as sparks came out of his feet, she had concluded that the spell had worn off.
She grinned wickedly at him for a second as another spell popped into her head. "Vermillious Attaqikus" she yelled.

Professor Snape shook his head at the sounds of yelling voices that floated into his office. Honestly, those children were always arguing over something or other. He, therefore, felt no need to hurry out and see what was the matter – the two shouters would likely end up sticking their tongues out then shoving each other aside as they stalked away in opposite directions. With a flick of his wrist all the scrolls he had been working on flew into the cupboard and stacked themselves neatly before Severus started packing away all of his things. A little while later his office was back in order and Severus closed the door with a snap and he locked it. Walking down the halls he was surprised the voices had not dissipated, in fact they had grown stronger if anything. He consciously made a detour toward where they were heard and was a little unsurprised to see one from his own house and a Gryffindor duelling. “Vermillious Attaqikus” she said, apparently unaware of the Potions Master’s approach. “Finite Incantatem” he said in a bored tone not sure whether the spell would have worked or no. Doubtful, an advanced spell for a third year, but he didn’t want to take any chances.
“Ms. Becket, Mr. Blackfire, lovely to see you two. Although I seriously doubt you can reply in kind. I am afraid, as you both know, duelling in the halls, or anywhere but the duelling classroom with Professor Hardy, is prohibited. 10 points from Gryffindor for that spell Ms. Becket and you both will be serving two weeks detention. Now carry on your separate ways and if I hear any more fighting I will take both your wands and you will have to explain to your teachers why you are unable to perform spells in class.” Severus said with a smirk before turning on his heel and leaving the two to undoubtedly sneer and toss insults at each other.

Katrina's eyes widened as he spell disappeared in front of her, she turned round to see Professor Snape. Katrina cursed under her breathe. She wasn't surprised in her losing points but the two week detention was absolutly unfair.
He went away, arrogently unaware how mean he had been to her. She truly wanted to shout the spell again at him but she had a fear she might not be so succesful.
