Amaryllis leaned back in her chair, riffling through the latest edition of a duelling magazine. They did put a great amount of information in here. It was enough to get anyone interested in duelling. She smiled contentedly and put it back down on her desk, surveying the duelling classroom she was sitting in. It looked much brighter, fresher and more colourful than it had done before, and she was hopeful that people would enjoy coming here to duel now as well. Maybe she should get some comfy chairs and suchlike so that people could come in to practice duelling too. She'd have to make sure they took care about the room though. At the moment not many people came in here except for the actual purpose of duelling.
Amaryllis sighed slightly. The fact that she couldn't move as much as she liked made her feel restless in a way she hadn't ever felt before. She pulled out her planner in which she'd been making lesson plans for upcoming Muggle Studies lessons, before deciding against starting right now. She got up slowly and walked carefully over to one of the windows, opening it and letting in the fresh, cool stream of mid-September air. Today she was going to be overseeing a duel between Cassandra Logton, whom she must remember to call Cassandra Blackfire as a matter of urgency, and Blake Conners, a fifth year Gryffindor boy. She'd seen Cassandra in her duelling classroom more than once before, but Blake Conners was new to it in her time here. She hoped that he would display some talent. She believed Cassandra certainly was not short of talent, and she appeared to have found an excellent direction to utilise it in as well. Amaryllis smiled to herself and looked out across the grounds, not as busy as in the summer months when everyone was revising, but still populated with people making the most of the fine weather of the autumn day.

Blake left class totally forgetting about the duel with Cassandra he had. Blake walked into the common room and as soon as he did one of his friends run up to him telling him he better no lose to a girl. Blake was a little confused about what he was saying then it hit him he had that duel to go to. His friend could tell but the look ok his face he total forgot about the duel. He walked back out of the of the common after he dropped his bag by his bed. He started heading to the Dueling club room the whole way there thinking about what spells to use. Blake finally reached the class room and opened the door. He was glad to see that Cassandra wasn't there yet.
He looked around the room and saw professor Hardy sitting down as he looked at her he smiled. " Hello Professor." He said to her not wanting to be rude and ignore her or something. "This should be interesting shouldn't ?" He said trying to make small talk till Cassandra got to the class room.

Cass was exuberant. It had been a good day what with watching Snape getting green goo splashed all over him, and seeing McGonogall scolding some Slytherins. In fact, she needed to talk to McGonogall about her animagi lessons. It was time to start those again and she really couldn't wait. She had made significant progress last year, and she was hoping that this year she may be able to sprout some fur. She knew she wouldn't be able to do much, but she still couldn't wait till she made the full transformation.
Entering the Dueling Classroom, she greeted both Hardy and Blake. " Hey Blake. Hello Professor, how are you today?" Cass removed her cloak and loosened her tie a bit. She was comfortable here, and it showed. " I'm ready when every ya'll are."

Amaryllis turned round as she heard the door being opened and automatically checked the clock. She wasn't at all pressed for time today, and felt in a contemplative mood, so didn't particularly mind how long the duel took; but nevertheless it was still a habit of hers to check the clock to see whether people arrived late or not - she liked people to be punctual and it was usually some sort of gage of their personality. It was Blake Conners that had entered the room, and she nodded to him in greeting. She was pleased to see that he felt it possible to make some conversation with her since not all the students she came into contact with did and so replied in as friendly a manner as she felt up to at the moment. "I find all duels interesting as a matter of fact, so I'm convinced I'll find this one so."
Amaryllis looked up again as Cassandra Log... Blackfire, Blackfire, entered the room. She greeted the Gryffindor girl with a similar nod of her head and a smile, and was about to reply to the question about how she was when she realised that it was probably more directed at Mr. Conners. She waited for both students to be ready to start, frowning probably slightly noticeably at how Americanised Cassandra's speech was... ya'll, honestly, you'd never have caught her saying that; it was sad how much influence there was polluting even the rich British language nowadays from over the Atlantic. Once both of them looked ready, she walked over from the window, taking it slowly to ensure that she didn't provoke any huge surges of pain. "All right, Mr. Conners, if you would go and stand on that grey triangle on the right of the platform; you, Miss Blackfire, take the purple circle if you would." Amaryllis waited for both of them to have carried out her instructions before continuing, "Whenever you are ready, Mr. Conners, you may cast your first spell."

Blake watched as Cassandra entered the room and got ready. Then when they both seemed ready Professor Hardy told them to take they're places on the spots on the floor. Blake toke his grey triangle and turned to face Cassandra as she walked to her spot. When they both reached they're spots She told him that he could cast the first spell and he was kind of glad he could start first. Blake pulled out his wand looking over at Cassandra. "Well good luck then." He said smiling thinking for a quick second. He finally picked a good spell to start off with, Blake pointed his wand at her. "Rictusempra!" He yelled out, wand still pointing at Cassandra.

(( Sorry it took me so long to post. I was rather busy all weekend.))
Cass walked over to the space that Professor Hardy indicated. She rolled up the sleeves of her white blouse and pulled out her wand. She couldn't help but wipe some of the fingerprints off of the shiny wood. Putting her wand at the ready, she waited for Blake to make the first move.
Adrenaline was running through her veins, and seemed to take him a lifetime to make the first move. The spell almost caught her off guard, and it took her a moment to come up with the correct counter spell. With a flick of her wand, she commanded, "Protego!" She could feel the magic coalesce in the air around her, and she just knew that this force would protect her.

((Blake casts Rictusempra; he has an 87.5% success chance.
*Dice... 2 ... = 25%... Success!*
Blake casts Rictusempra. Cassandra casts the correct defense, Protego. She has a 50% success chance.
*Dice... 5 ... = 62.5%... Failure!*
Cassandra fails to cast Protego, so Blake's Rictusempra hits with the full 1 point.
Score - Blake 1.0, Cassandra 0.0))
Amaryllis watched as the two Gryffindors prepared themselves to duel. She nodded as they both seemed ready and after a short while Mr. Conners cast his first spell. It wasn't a particularly complex spell for a pupil of his age and presumably accumalated skill but he cast it skillfully and she nodded in approval. Unfortunately Miss Logton's protection spell did not quite work, and Amaryllis waved her wand to disperse the power of the spell before it had chance to take much effect whatsoever; she did not view that a sensation of being tickled all over was necessarily the most dignified for a student to adopt.
"A very impressive command of that spell, Mr. Conners," she said. "Well done. Miss Logton, that was a very good try and the spell had a lot of force behind it. Just work on drawing it out longer so that it will protect you properly." Amaryllis proferred a slight smile before continuing, "Miss Logton, whenever you are ready, you may cast your first spell."

As soon as the spell left her wand, she knew it wasn't going to work. Cass braced for the impact of Blake's spell, but it never came. Professor Hardy made the spell melt in the air before it hit her. " Great shot, Blake!" She smiled widely at her opponent. True, she was upset that her spell failed, but this was a learning experience. She could only learn from her failures. Pondering a moment, she aimed at Blake. " Silencio!" She felt the the spell leaver her wand and make its way towards her opponent.
