Minerva opened the door the the Owlery and entered the room while the sound of feathers and silent hoots surrounded her. Lookign around sharply Minver made her way through the numerous owl belonging to different students and stopped in front of a tan owl. The owl reached out it’s leg tomwards Minerva and she tied her letter to the owls leg. The owl hooted softly before raising gracefully into the air and floating out of the room. Minerva watched it go for a few moments before taking hold of her long skirts and briskly walking out of the owlery. She had a class starting soon and Minerva wanted to make sure everything would go perfectly. She would not tolerate any insolence in her classes and everyone had to try and give their best.
When Minerva opened the door to her classroom and stepped in the big clock showed that there was still a full hour until next class would begin. She had preparead the class thoroughy so nothing everything should go swiftly, but Minerva still liked to look over her things. Everything seemed to be in order so Minerva took a seat at her table and pulled a stack of essays closer to herself. There would still be plenty of time before the students would start arriving and she could use that time to grade a bit. She had not gotten a chance to correct this essays made by her Beginners the previous evening so she did it now before her students had arrived.

Dana fixed her hair easily, pulling half ot it up with a simple clip and leaving half to fall freely onto her shoulders. Her hair had somehow managed to stay in the nice order they were in usually, even though Dana had been somewhat neglecting her looks lately. Not that she had used to paying as much attention to them as she had previously. But at least she looked a lot btter now with even the black bags gone from under her eyes. Slipping into a black knee-length skirt and a blue blouse with a black-blue silk-scarf to go around her neck Dana figured that she was more or less ready for class. Pulling her school robe over her shoudlers Dana grabbed the bag with her books for the day and left the common room heading towards the Great Hall. She needed foor and she needed lot of it. Some friend had named her stomach Bob in the summer. Dana didn’t get why her stomach had to be called after a guy, but she didn’t really mind awfully either.
Entering the Great Hall Dana replied absent-mindedly to the greetings of a few friends as she slipped to sit in the Slytherin table. At least she wouldn’t be bothered by random people here as she wasn’t feelign overly talkative, even though her mood had improved a lot since Kris woke from his coma. She still blamed herself for it partially, but Kris had literally yelled at her and cursed her when dana had mentioned it to him. Dana could practically hear his arrogant drawl even now „I was just protecting my possessions. And you are my sister.“ Choosing to sit next to Mary Dana helped herself to a healthy breakfast somewhat keeping up the conversation, even though her main attention was on food.
After finishing of her omlette, pancakes, morning cup of coffee and a couple of muffins Dana felt ready enough to go to class. It was with McGonagall so Dana didn’t have any doubts that she would have to concentrate rather thoroughly in the class. Luckily Transfiguration wasn’t overly hard for her. Picking her bag up again Dana swept out of the Great Hall with her heels slightly clickingon the floor as she made her way through the castle and entered the Transfiguration classroom after a brief knock on the door. Naturally McGonagall was already there and probably grading essays. „Good morning, professor,“ Dana said calmly as she slipped into a seat in the front row.

The day was starting like any other, a restless night sleep that ended up in him getting up too early spending some great deal of time trying to get Dillion up and out of bed so he could make it to class as well. Dillion never was the good student type, even if he did have some talent to back it up. Once that was set he went down to breakfast, meeting Sethia, the only thing in his life he fully remembered since the attacks this summer. After he ate his fill and said his good-byes to Sethia he headed off to Transfiguration--a class he had figured out was not one of his stronger ones, and he settled down near the front of the room, taking out his things in preparation.

Lavender woke early in the morning. She was ready to get to class on time today. She knew that Professor McGonagall would take house points if she wasn't on time. She quickly dressed and headed down to the great hall. Her Hogwarts robes flew out behind her as she hurried down the steps with her bag slung hap-hazardously over one shoulder. She walked into the Great Hall and to the Gryffindor table. Sitting down she acknowledged the others around her. She smiled and began to dig in to the food. It tasted so good this morning. Eggs, some bacon, and bread. Not to mention the smell that encompassed the whole hall was rather nice. Though it made the whole place seem a bit surreal. Lavender looked around as she took another bite of her food. It seemed like something was hanging in the air, though she wasn't sure which. It was at these times she wished she could just go see Professor Trelawney. She would know what was going on around Hogwarts and the world. Lavender sighed. Too bad she hadn't decided on tea, she could read her tea leaves to see if anything bad was going to happen. Finishing her coffee in one gulp she got up from the table and headed to class.
Stepping out of the Great Hall, Lavender headed quickly up the stairs and toward Professor McGonagall's class. She smiled to herself at the day. It seemed so beautiful, but yet so surreal. How could one day seem to be so completely unreal. She sighed as she walked into the class. There were already a few people there. Neither of the were in Gryffindor. She smiled to them in turn and then took a seat in the front of the room. She wanted to be up near the front so she would pay attention. She hated it when she lost focus and began to daydream. She sighed again before she began to take her things out of her bag. She dipped her quill in ink and waited for Professor McGonagall to begin.

Luna braided tactfully red pearls and feathers into her hair. The decorations in her hair mathced with the bright red Christmas balls Luna had shrunk and then hanged onto her ears. Luna had dressed in her regular school robes with the small green scamander being sewn onto the shoulder of the robe but the jewelry she wore created a nice bright effect. Luna had been rid of her colourful sling too and Luna actualyl missed the Snafflehorned Snarglemangs. But it had been good to chat with them while they did live in her sling.
Hopping down to the Transfiguration classroom Luna made sure to jump up on every 6th step. She didn’t want to bring bad luck down upon herself. Transfiguration was a difficult class. But Luna had no doubt that she would enjoy it. Perhaps professor McGonagall would agree to show her how to transfigure water into glitter she could throw around to make people cheer up. There wasn’t anything glitter couldn’t make better. Luna knew it from first hand experience. Luna entered the classroom jumping high on the 6th step once again as she made her way between the benches. Sitting down next to a 7th year Hufflepuff boy Luna smiled at him happily while blinking quickly. „Happy ragornfrogs day!“ Giving the boy a small stuffed from Luna turned to look at professor McGonagall leaning her chin on both of her palms and staring unblinkingly at the elderly woman.

Minerva finished grading the essay just as the bell sounded and it was time to start the class. Placing her quil into the ink-pot Minerva put the correct essays neatly into one stack before standing up and walking around her table to face her NEWT students. Sharp eyes swept over the classroom taking in every student here. Everyone who had gotten into this class were talented, willing to learn. Or simply incredibly lucky to have passed their OWLs with a good enough score. Very few people were in class this time, but Minerva just nodded and offered one of her rare smiles to the students presents.
„Hello. Today we are going to have a fairly difficult lesson as we are learning one of the trickiest and most dificult parts of transfiguration. Reversing an already done transfiguration.“ Minnie made a brief pause as she let this information soak into the minds of her students. „This is rather easy to do. If you see a snail being transfigured into a teapot then it is no problem to transfigure that teapot into a snail. What youall are going to be learning today is much more advanced that this. Could I have a volunteer to help me demonstrate the spell?“ Minerva looked around the classroom waiting for a hand to rise.

’They were going to be learning a tricky transfiguration’. McGonagall always knew how to encourage people, didn’t she? – Dana thought sarcastically. It wasn’t that transfiguration was an overly easy subject. Being warned by the master of it in Hogwarts school wasn’t really comforting. How hard could it become? Dana wasn’t exactly sure she wanted to know. But she needed to get back on track with her studies. It had been pure luck her grades hadn’t suffered yet this year. As Dana hadn’t spent much time over her studeis while Kris was in coma.
Being a bit wary as she didn’t know for what exactly she was volunteering for, Dana slowly raised her hand, as no one else was jumping at the opportunity. She could always try. Perhaps her luck would last a bit more and she would get some easy task to do?

Only one hand rose into the air after a bit and Minerva nodded to the 6th year Ravenclaw. „Very well ms. Coran. I will only require a very simple task for you. I will use a charm so I won’t see or hear anything for a minute. I am going to ask you to take absolutely anything and transfigure it into something else. It doesn’t matter what you transfigure it to. Once you are ready come and tap my shoulder.“
Turning away from the young girl Minerva blessed the rest of the class with a very stern look. „As you allshould already know I will tolerate NO trouble or emss in my classroom. Anyone breaking the order while ms.Coran is transfiguring and I’m not paying my whole attention will be punished very severly. If you’re ready miss Coran?“ Raising her wand Minerva waved it once as a big gray bubble appeared around her head making sure she wouldn’t see what ms.Coran was doing.

Dana was called on and her eyes widened slightly upon hearing the task. That was it? No having to do some complex spell? Or turn invisible? Or even turn a candle into a dragon? Just take whatever she liked and change it something she wanted? Blinking again the knowledge finally settled in Dana’s head just when professor McGonagall used the spell on herself. She would have to turn something. After a moment of hesitation Dana raised her hand and released the clasp from her hair. Tapping it with her wand and muttering the correct incantation Dana watched contently as it turned into stuffed brown-white dog. Turning the toy between her head dana slowly stood, recallign the second part of the order. Sending a searching glance over her shoulder to the class Dana gently tapped the professors shoulder and handed her the dog, wondering what would McGonagall be doing with it.

Feeling the light tap on her shoulder Minerva banished the spell and accepted the toy dog miss Coran gave her. Looking at the toy Minerva nodded with satisfaction. „Very good transfiguration ms.Coran. 10 points to Ravenclaw. You may now return to your seat.“ Placing the stuffed dog on a high table Minerva raised her wand. “Pay attention now. Aadvorto aversus!” Tapping the toy with her wand once Minerva concentrated for a moment until to have the toy return to it’s previous shape a moment later. Raising the hair-clip Minerva showed it to the students before handing it back to miss Coran. “Aadvorto aversus is a very complex spell that almost requires you sensing what has been done before. You tap into the object you must retransfigure, sense it’s core and undo the change it’s under. Remember to be very careful while using this spell. Anything less than perfect will not be good enough.”
Raising her wand Minerva casted a spell and watched as books in front of every student sprouted feathers and wings and legs until they were all colourful parrots. “Your homework will be simple. You must retransfigure your book to it’s original state before next class as I will be giving you a test that you must prepare for with your own book. I will ANY cheating so you must change your book back yourselves.
I chose your books because I’m fairly certain none of you have completely memorized the text, so it will b e obvious who has worked outside class. Now before you have any complaints I must warn you. Your book will have a characteristic depending on how you take care of your things. Should you constantly be sleeping over your Transfiguration text-book then you parrot will show few signs of life. If you use tutoring as a chance to flirt then do not be surprised if your parrot tries to hit on you.” Minerva looked around the classroom and gave one of her brief smiles. She didn’t expect anyone to be able to change their book back in the class but she could observe and see if students were starting to go in the correct direction. “You may now start to work on your book-parrot. Don’t hesitate to ask for help if you require it. Remember. The spell is ‘Aadvorto aversus’.”

Dana watched with arched eye-brows as her transfigured hair-clip was turned back to it’s original state in a matter of seconds. „Thank you,“ Dana told profesosr McGonagall taking her hair-clip back form her hand. Not bothering to put her hair back up just now, Dana pursed her mouth thoughtfully. Changing something back. Well, at least they had plenty of time to practice. Having to muffle a small yelp as the book in front of her suddenly turned into a parakeet Dana stared at it with wide eyes. Well, practice was one thing. Having to turn back your book was completely an other. Especially if you had to turn it back under the threat of a test.
„Awk, deary, awre youre awkight?“ the parakeet swueeked out while waying it’s wings and Dana could only stare in horror. Her book had a motherly nature? Well, Dana took care of her books, making sure they wren’t too near to the fire, didn’t get wet and Dana most certainly didn’t break the covers or turn back page-corners. But wasn’t that standard procedure for every book-oowner? Then why did Dana’s book babied her? At least Dana had deciphered the books words as ’deary, are you alright’. Now that she thought over that – had that been what the parakeet-book had said?
Staring at the book with distaste Dana raised her wand feeling a bit hopeless. Like she had guessed her try of Aadvorto aversus didn’t have no effect what-so-ever. Sighing, Dana rubber her temples and after noting down the correct charm started to work on her book. After using Silencio on it to stop the motherly questions about how she was feeling, if she wasn’t feeling too warm or cold and everything else. Why, no book had ever before suggested Dana to dress warmer before. Getting to work Dana let herself be carried along with the work, not paying attention ot the others. For the whole class her efforts in the end of it were small. She had barely managed to get rid of most of the parakeets colour. And it’s wings were know her books covers. The outcome looked freaky. A parrot jumping aorund with two leathery book-covers on each side flapping up and down. Staring at the bloody parakeet with distaste Dana waited to see what McGonagall would tell her about this.

Luna continued singing the Yellow Submarine even after class started. Only more quieter. McGonagall didn’t like singing. She dind’t like a lot of happy things. Luna smiled at the professor brilliantly. She didn’t like happy things but she was nice none the less. Looking down at the parrot appearing before her Luna greeted the bird. Shaking it’s leg with one of her fingers Luna tied a colourful ribbon from her head around the parrots neck. Who was very pleased by such decoration. Make small-talk with the bird Luna was feeling a bit sorry she would have to change the lively bird back into a book.
„Aadvorto aversus!“ Tapping the book once Luna started to work forgetting everything around her. „These parrots are really nice. Don’t you think so? I am so glad professor McGonagall gave us so nice homework.“ Luna smiled happily at the boy sitting next to her and turned her attention back to the parrot. By the end of the lesson Luna didn’t have overly much to show. Her parrot was now sparkling and without feathers. And the title of the transfiguration book was clearly printed over the birds back. „Aren’t you just the most adorable!“ Luna cooed to her parrot softly, storking it’s not so handsome head affectionally.

Minerva walked around the classroom helping the students on their way. The biggest problem for most seemed to be how to calm their parrots. Correcting the pronouncation of the spell here and the wand movement there Minerva suggested and hinted to people to make their work a little easier. It was a difficult tast but it was necessary task. Minerva wanted to help her students as much as she could to receive the best possible outcomes. While making sure the students actually did learn something.
Finally the classes was about to end and Minerva nodded to the two girls who seemed to have made the most process. The Ravenclaw perfect had managed to turn the birds wings into the covers of her book. And ms.Lovegood who had always striken Minerva as a bit odd but talented had some writing already. „You all know your homework. Turn your birds back to their original state by next lesson as I will have a test for all of you from the book. Revise pages 10 to 25 please. Ms.Coran and ms.Lovegood excellent work from both of you. I award you both with 10 points. Class dismissed.“
((This class is now oficially over. I want to thank you all who came over and participated in the class.))
