Amaryllis sank down in her chair in the duelling classroom, frowning at the pain. It still hadn't stopped, but presumably she would just have to be patient. But it didn't feel right - she wanted her old energy back. Her middle aged energy, yes, but still, she had had energy. Now it was as if all her energy was being drained on healing herself, and she felt very weary. She wasn't sure if the pain was coming from the potions Poppy was giving her or merely from her stomach. But whatever, she was suffering rather a lot of pain, and she needed this time to sit down after her day of teaching before the next duel she was overseeing, between Cassandra Logton (Cassandra Blackfire now, but Amaryllis still thought of her as Cassandra Logton; she found it hard to make the transition in her perception. Teenagers were going through enough trying to find their identity at that time of their lives, without their name needing to be changed. She didn't know what the mother thought they were doing) and Robert Knight, both of them fourth year students who she had seen last year in her duelling classroom.
Maybe she shouldn't be working. But she was just about capable of doing it. Perhaps she needed a little more rest than she was getting. She didn't want it though. She had failed two of the students at least. Laura Pennington and Kris Graas, who was in a coma. And the friends of the Hufflepuff, of course. No, the best thing for her to do was to work as well as she could to make things better for the students. Them developing their duelling skills couldn't hurt. And it might make them feel more secure. Maybe that was why she was having such a packed schedule of duelling - that it was the way the students were reacting to all the atrocities that had been committed. Well, that wasn't a bad thing, at least they were doing something positive. She needed to get into a more positive frame of mind; she wouldn't be doing her students any good if they could see just how weak she felt at the moment, and the amount of pain she was in from the curse that Death Eater had hit her with. Amaryllis settled down to marking some Muggle Studies work the students just beginning their OWLs had done for her, while keeping her eye on the clock which hung on the wall in a prominent position.
