A rabbit and a dear, a man and a woman. The patterns seemed to almost come alive before her eyes even if no one else might not be able to see and understand them. Maybe daddy would but he wasn’t here now to translate the words of those figures to Luna now. So Luna just drew the figures and patterns in the dirt with the end of a stick she had found on the ground. Sometimes Luna used the help of her fingers too. Some girls she knew might not like the way soil got under her nails but Luna liked the feel of the ground in her hands. That’s why she liked Herbology too. It made her create something. There were three type of people after all. Some who thought that the worst was yet to come and the world was racing towards that and others who thought that best was still on the way. And then there were those who liked traditional Irish dancing hairless rats and lived life in the present. Luna had never seen traditional Irish dancing so she wasn’t entirely sure into which group she herself belonged. But the man on her drawing was certain that things were going worse and the woman that things were going to go better. Maybe that was what made them such a lovely couple, even if the man snored so loudly that the woman needed subtitles for her dreams. But at the same time the man would always get rid of Rogabibikies from the woman’s sock-drawers where they liked to spawn. Sometimes everybody won a little. At least they had a bubble bath and a personal tango-teacher even if there were fights that made life seem so hard that their brains cramped.
And the owl. Luna smiled to herself and draw an oval with two dots in the middle of it and then draw a stick over the owls head. The owl might get scared and lonely if it was dark and Luna didn’t want that. That was about as fun as giving a high-five for yourself. Luna put down the stick she had been drawing with and tried to high-five herself. Yet she didn’t succeeded. It came out as a clap over her head so Luna tried again. And once again she had to be disappointed. It was just as illogical as the fact that on a planet where there were over 600 ice-cream flavours someone was mad because licorice-lined lemon-garlic pie didn’t taste good. But Luna hadn’t tried that pie yet either so she wasn’t entirely sure whether she would dislike it too or not. Luna stood out and reached her arms to the sides as she smiled. School was going to be over soon and she would see daddy again even if Luna would miss her friends at school. And getting her things back from others like she always did in the end of school years would be almost like a treasure hunt! She could be the gallivant knight who overcome dangers and thornbushes on her noble quest! Or maybe she should be the snarky young pirate in a lacy pink blouse (why some people called it salmon when it looked pink was beyond Luna) who is trying to gather goods to get a new boat before becoming the fear of the seven seas! There was so much she was yet to decide. She still needed the wise sage to look over her path too but Luna quietly thought that professor Dumbledore was already playing the game and just waiting for everyone else to understand and join in too. Because maybe he had understood that what we want and love influenced the world around us more than we even understood. Or maybe people didn’t understand themselves. It was often said that we just want to be happy while the meaning was that we want money and a lot of it. That we want spiritual guidance and deeper understanding when we just wanted simple answers. We say we want love, attachment and partnership while in reality we just want a tight hug. We want to be taken as we are but we still want to be a bit more glamorous that our thighs would be leaner or more muscular. But there was no escaping the game of life and no cheating in it.
Luna pushed off her shoes and stood barefoot curling her toes as the grass tickled her legs deciding to join professor Dumbledore’s game today. After all heroes, villains and farmhands often started off the same way so Luna would just begin the game and see what would become of it. There was a nice puddle just a few steps over from the rain that had fallen during the night so Luna walked over carefully and kneeled down at the edge of the puddle and jumped in it glad that she had decided to come out here the first thing in the morning. Luna hurt one of her legs a little bit on a sharp rock so she spent a few moments digging the piece of rock out with her toes before putting it on the edge of the puddle and looking at herself. The muddy water had splashed nicely meaning this was a good rain puddle to play in. Even if Luna’s orange harem-pants were now quite muddy too and didn’t fit her white peasant blouse anymore. Luna splashed around some more before sitting down on the ground with a loud plop making the mud and water splash all over her blouse and loose hair too. A droplet landed on her cheek and Luna raised one of her hands from the puddle and calmly wiped the droplet away with the back of her hand. Even if it only meant that now instead one droplet half of her face was covered with the mud just as the cold water was already starting to soak through her thin pants. Splashing some more water around in the puddle Luna laughed out loud.
