Summer! Summer was finally here. Andrea loved everything about it. Andrea just woke up from a great sleep. She got a pair of blue capris and a orange T-shirt and got dressed. She brushed her shining black hair and brushed her white teeth happily. She put on a pair on white sneakers and skipped joyfully through the common room and out into the corridors. She skipped into the Great Hall and opened the doors that lead to the grounds. She ran and jumped around as her lungs filled with summer air. "Summer, summer.." Andrea sung happily. The morning sun made Andrea's brown eyes sparkle. A mocking bird flew into a bush with a worm in its mouth. Andrea sneaked up to the same bush and saw a nest of baby birds.
"Aw, how cute!" Andrea said while walking away. Andrea wondered if her parent's liked summer too while they where alive. Andrea wondered what time it was. "Wow, 8:48" Andrea said with surprise. She thought it was sooner than that. While twirling, Andrea bumped into someone. Andrea quickly fell while not being able to catch her fall. "Ouch, I'm sorry, are you ok?" Andrea said while still sitting on the grass. She had bumped into Derrick, a fellow Hufflepuff too. "Oh, hi Derrick!" Andrea said while getting up from the ground. Derrick was her neighbor so she saw a lot of him.

Turning over sleepily in bed Derrick tried to fall back asleep once again. He had been up late studying and talking with his friends. Fifteen minutes later of trying unsuccessfully to fall back asleep he sighed annoyed slightly. Why couldn't he ever fall asleep after he had woken up the first time even though he was unbelievably sleepy? Sitting up slightly he let his grayish eyes travel around the room and settle on the window. It was what looked like a warm sunny day. The perfect summer day he thought to himself happily. Slipping out of the comfy sheets and into the sticky humid air he tip-toed over to his trunk being careful not to wake the others up. Grabbing an oversized white shirt and navy blue shorts he pulled the already picked out shirt over his head and pulled his shorts on with a smile.
He was very happy that the sun was shining and there was no sign of rain. He was so sick of rain; it had rained for the past week and had started to make him slightly restless and a tiny bit temperamental. Walking into the bathroom and pulling out his toothbrush he scrubbed at his already white teeth. Rinsing his mouth out he put his tooth brush away and ran a comb threw his hair. Walking out of the bathroom he jogged out of the common room and threw the halls of Hogworts and out of the doors that lead to the huge crowded grounds. Looking around Derrick saw many people from all the houses though there seemed to be strangely a large amount of Ravenclaws out today.
Deciding to take a jog around the lake first. Derrick starting off at a steady jog he quickened his speed every two minutes until he was in a full out sprint. Letting his mind wander as he jogged around the lake he continued to think about the next Hogsmade trip and meeting his mom there. When he finally made it back to were he began his jog he stopped slowly into a slow walk. A little out of breath he was looking at a owl that was flying over head and before he new it he had run into someone. "Ouch, I'm sorry, are you ok? Oh, hi Derrick!" The girl in front of him said. "I'm so sorry Andrea I am fine are you ok?" He asked in a concerned voice.

Dresden lay in bed with her eyes open. She had been staring at the same spot on the bed post for half an hour, putting off the idea of getting up. Dresden groaned as she looked at her watch. 8:00am.As if I can't sleep. Pushing off her bed covers, she sat up and got out of bed. Standing up straight, she stretched her arms and legs. Dresden slowly began to undress. She saw no reason to hurry, as she didn't have any plans for the day anyways.
Going down to the Ravenclaw common room, she saw only one other person in it. It looked as if they had fallen asleep while studying late into the night. She crossed the room and went out into the hall. The hall was empty as well. Well why wouldn't it be? Normal people sleep at this time of day.
Dresden made her way through the maze of hallways and staircases, until she came to the front door. Pushing it open, she stepped outside. For 8:00am in the morning, there were a fair amount of people outside.
Dresden looked around to see if she knew anyone. When she didn't recognized any of the people around her, she walked towards the lake. Heading towards the tree she liked to sit in, she recognized one of two people talking. It was Derek a Hufflepuff the same age as her. They had met in the library not very long ago. Deciding she had nothing to lose, she went over to him."Hey, Derrick." She smiled to him and turned to the other girl."Hi, I'm Dresden."

Derrick apologized to Andrea. "Why are you apologizing? I'm the one that bumped into you." Andrea said while brushing the dirt of her t-shirt. Andrea saw another girl heading over toward them. She knew Derrick. She said her name was Dresden. "Hi, I'm Andrea, a hufflepuff fourth year. What house are you in?" Andrea asked. Andrea felt something squirming in her pant pocket. Smokey, her kitten's head popped out. "Smokey, were you taking a nap in there?" Andrea asked while picking up her grey and black kitten. “This is my 5 month old kitten. The reason she's so small is because, well, Harley, my brother shrunk him on accident ." Andrea said while rolling her eyes.
Andrea accidentally broke a charm of her mother's charm bracelet. “Oh dear, Reparo." Andrea said while fixing her mom's bracelet. "All better, so Dresden. Where do you live?” Andrea asked. “I hope they don't talk about parents." Andrea mumbled to herself. “Want to see a bird nest with baby birds in it? It's over here.” Andrea said while going over to the bush. Unfortunately the momma bird was there and pecked on Andrea's head. “Ahh!!" Andrea screamed while shoving the bird of her head. “Ouch!" Andrea said while laughing at herself.

Dresden watched as a kitten, much more smaller than any kitten she had ever seen, appeared from one of Andreas pockets. "I'm in Ravenclaw.3rd year."
Dresden couldn't recall the last time she had met someone so...bubbly.
Andrea almost reminded Dresden of a girl she knew back home. In a weird way it was like watching a 7 year old, with no worries in the world.
Andrea went over to some birds, saying something about a nest. Dresden laughed a little a a bird that had flown out of the bush and attacked her.
"I'm from Cardiff, ever been there?"

"Why are you apologizing? I'm the one that bumped into you." Smiling slightly he said in a jokingly cross voice "You need to learn were you are walking!" Chuckling at this he let his eyes travel to were the sun was shining. Blinking a few times as he looked away he continued to see a little white sphere shape every where he looked. I wish I would have brought my sun glasses Derrick thought to himself a little reluctantly. This was a thought that quiet often passed threw his mind and yet he never brought any out because he either thought he didn't need them even thought he new he would or just plain forgot.
Turning slightly as he heard someone address him. Looking over he saw the girl he recognized as Dresden and returned a smile "Hey Dresden how have you been?" He remembered her as the girl he met in the library. Watching as the two girls introduced themselves to each other he wondered maybe they will become close friends or something. Raising an eyebrow at himself he shook his head. Wow that was the weirdest thing he had ever thought in a long time.
Suppressing a laugh he watched curiously as something moved in her pocket. Smiling slightly as he recognized her little kitten Smokey as he remembered that had accidentally been shrunk poked it's head out. Smiling slightly as Andrea explained why her kitten was so small to Dresden he looked out onto the grounds and saw plenty of people. Mostly Gryffindor's but that was just fine.
Watching as Andrea repaired her bracelet he didn't say anything and realized he had been silent for a long time witch was strange because you could usually never shut him up! Watching as Andrea walked over to a nest he said "I wouldn't do that if I were…." But didn't finish his sentence because Andrea was attacked by the mama bird. Trying not to fall over because he was laughing so hard he tried desperately to stop.
When he finally stopped laughing he answered to Dresden as she said "I'm from Cardiff, ever been there?" "Yah, I live near there" Derrick responded.
(SO SO SO SO SO SO sorry bout the long wait!!!!!)

Dresden grew excited when Derrick said he lived near Cardiff."Wow, really? Where are you from? Maybe we could hang out in the summer or something."
Dresden started to think of the summer. She was excited to go visit her Oma, and the garden gnome, Pel, that lived in her garden. They had many adventures together when she was younger, and she was hoping to have a repeat this summer.

Andrea was rubbing the spot where the mama bird had attacked her head and laughed with everyone else. Andrea watched as Dresden and Derrick got into a conversation. Andrea tried to talk but they were really going at it. They must be really good friends. Finally Andrea had the perfect spot to talk.
"So what's you guy's favorite color?" Andrea asked Smokey climbed up her shoulder. "Have you ever tried to say cinnamon and synonym 3 times fast?" Andrea asked while giggling silently as she remembered her first try. Derrick and Dresden got into a talk about where they where from. Derrick said he was lived near Cardff, and Dresden was from Cardiff. Andrea didn't like Cardiff at all. That's where her old house was and that's where her father died. "Could we change the topic? I don't really like Cardiff." Andrea said while grinning a nervous grin. Please don't ask why I don't like it.

Dresden looked at Andrea, watching as her cat climbed up on her shoulder. "My favourite colour is purple, and no, I haven't tried. I'm not good at saying words that sound the same."
Dresden could see the nervous look on Andreas face as her and Derrick talked about Cardiff. She couldn't see why someone could not like a town, but figured she must have a decent reason."Sure. So where are you from Andrea?"

Giving Andrea a knowing glance he answered to her question "My favorite color is green. What is yours?" Derrick new why Andrea didn't like Cardiff but was in no liberty to say or tell anyone. The only reason he new was when he was listening to his mom talk to her friend about what she had to go threw in her childhood. He wasn't even sure if Andrea new that he new what happened threw her childhood. Looking at Dresden he replied to her question quickly so he would not be rude "Well I don't really live there but I have a summer cottage up there that I like to visit every once in a while. Anyway so what brought you guys out on a day like this?"
Turning slightly so that he now faced towards the lake he said "I wish I had brought my swimming trunks because swimming sounds mighty fun right now!" Turning back to the to girls he waited for them to say something.
(Sorry it is so short but I couldn't think of anything.)

Dresden sat down on the ground, hugging her knees to her chest. "I couldn't sleep. I tried and tried, but finally the look of the wall got boring." Derrick paused for a moment, turning towards the lake. He said he wanted to go swimming. "Why can't you? I'm sure you must have some type of shorts underneathe? Even if they are boxers, so what?"

Andrea looked at Derrick's glance and didn't know why he was looking at her like that. " I'm sorry for saying that I didn't like your home town Dresden, it's just that I had some childhood issues there. And my favorite color is yellow." Andrea said before Derrick said he wanted to go swimming. " Excuse us for a second." Andrea said while pulling Derrick aside. " Why did you give me that glance? I know I should of just changed the topic but that comment just slipped out. But do you know about my childhood?" Andrea said in a low voice.
