Wendi shivered slipping out the castle doors. She could take it no longer. Wendi had been avoiding the grounds for far too long. Even though the attack had only been a week before, Wendi still couldn't get over it. Sometimes the thoughts of that night left her mind but those moments were rare. Wendi hated feeling that way. She felt weak, but this wasn't a rare feeling for her. Jami made her feel better. He always did. Jamison knew exactly how to talk to Wendi and make her feel better. It was one of those things Wendi would always love about him. Wendi shifted her steps in an awkward way walking down the great steps. She needed this. Wendi had been avoiding it way too long. She had spend the past few days in the common room. There Wendi wouldn't be confronted by too many people asking how she was feeling. The common room was a place she could be alone without too many disruptions. She was free to think back to the attack and try and get herself feeling normal on he own.
Wendi's grandparents wanted to send her straight home of course. They couldn't stand the fact she had been hurt and Jamison blamed himself. Wendi wished he would understand that he can't watch her twenty-four, seven. But, Jamison felt as if he had disobeyed his grandparents by not watching Wendi closely enough. But, Jamison was always there when Wendi needed him. Maybe the attack was for a reason besides the Death Eaters are sick and twisted. Maybe it was fate, which was a subject Wendi pondered often. However, these answers were things no one could ever really know and that's the way it would always be. Wendi just wished everything would go away. She wished she had never gone out to the lake that night and dipped her toes in the water. Wendi wished a lot of things, but for the moment this was at the top of her list.
It was about dusk and curfew wouldn't be more than an hour away. But, still Wendi ventured through the grounds. She had her Hufflepuff robes over pink pajamas as she had changed hours before. Wendi could feel the light breeze over take her as the night became darker and darker. It was actually much like that night. Wendi snapped her head thinking upon it again. No, she needed to stop that. She needed to be normal again, but it was oh so hard. Wendi could hear fish jumping in the lake and she looked towards them. How it would be fun to be a fish. No worries, well except that you could get eaten. No, one that hate you, well except for bigger fish. In these thoughts, Wendi realized that if she was any other creature, life would still be the same. There would still be bullies and fears. In this moment, Wendi felt herself grow a bit mentally but that feeling drifted momentarily.
Wendi walked around the grounds until she reached a tree. This wasn't just any tree, this was the tree that Kitty had bumped into that very night. This was the tree near where Kitty was made into a pig and Wendi received her broken leg. Of course, that was all better. Madam Pomfrey had fixed Wendi up in a matter of days. The only thing that remained were a few bruises she didn't have time to get to and they were already gone. The real scars of that night had disappeared, but Wendi was sure the mental scars would live forever. She walked to the tree and sat underneath it. Wendi remembered that night and how she had wished upon a star. Wendi looked above her and picked a star. "I wish I could be stronger." She said. Wendi then stiffened as she heard someone come near her.

(Sorry this is terribly late.)
Leah had been in her dormitory long enough. It had been about a week after the Hogsmeade attack. Even though she didn't get hurt in the Hogwarts attack, she was still afraid to go out. She was afraid she'd end up with her dad. Her dad was in St.Mungo's with multiple brain injuries and had just woken up from a coma. Plus, her dad doesn't remember a thing or any one. Even though it wasn't her dad's fault she felt like she was a distant memory.
Her mom wasn't hurt but was to busy with her five year old sister and one year old baby brother. Plus, she was a healer at St.Mungo's. Leah's mom was to busy to write a letter to her. Leah felt like nobody new her. She only had a freind to comfort her in this terrible situation. Leah put her robes over her blue silk paramas and went into the grounds. Leah slowly ventured into the grassy field. Leah took of her slippers and dipped her feet in the cold lake.
Leah kept on looking around until she saw a figure under a tree. She slipped her slippers on her wet feet and pulled out her wand. It was dusk and the sun had set. It was pitch black. While Leah slowly creeped up to the figure, she hoped it wasn't a terrible Death Eater. Leah stood infront of the figure. " Lumos" Leah whispered as her wand lit up. It was only a Hufflepuff girl. " Sorry if I scared you. My name's Leah. What's yours?"Leah asked the girl.

Wendi turned to the figure. It took a moment for her to breathe. This could be anyone. Wendi didn't know if this person was a friend or foe. Suddenly, lumos was casted and Wendi could tell it was a girl a few years older than herself. Her robes gave her off as a Gryffindor. Usually Wendi would give off a faint smile, but she didn't. The girl hadn't frightened her too bad but she was still afraid all the same. The night of the attack hadn't been too much different than the current one. Anything could happen, anytime, anywhere. Wendi knew the Death Eaters would attack again. It was there nature. But she hoped next time, they left Hogwarts alone to it's peace. Wendi breathed a sigh of relief. The girl hadn't meant to frighten her, but she had. Of course, Wendi had never been so much of a brave person. But, she wished she would be. There were only three things Wendi truly wanted in her life. The first was to be braver, the second as for Jamison to always be safe. The third was for her parents back. Of course, every child without parents wanted that wish.
Wendi shrugged a bit and tried to look calm, but it wasn't exactly working. The girl introduced herself Leah and said she was sorry if she sacred her. Wendi finally offered a slight smile which was nothing compared to the brilliant ones she was capable of. Leah asked what her name was. "Oh, I'm Wendi." She sputtered out in a fast manner. "I'm a Hufflepuff first year, but not for much longer, I guess you could say." Wendi let out glad that her words didn't mumble. Wendi's felt a little better now. At least she was talking normal. That had been uncommon for her the past few days. Usually all her words were with Jami and they weren't plentiful. But, this situation felt pretty normal except for the fact that Leah had frightened Wendi out of her wits.
Wendi sighed resting her hand on her hip in her usual stance. The skies were growing darker every moment and Wendi couldn't help but let out a yawn. She had been very tired the past few days. Sleep was hard for her and pretty uncommon. But, Wendi tried. She looked at Leah for a moment. Wendi could try to be social, right? "So, what brings you out here, now? I'm just ready to be outside again..." She let her words end not wanting to say anything about that attacks for the moment. Wendi looked at Leah awaiting a response.

The girl under the tree said her name was Wendi. " I'm out here the same reason you are." Leah answered. The sky was now pitch black except for a glittering star moving across the sky. " Look, it's a shooting star! Make a wish!" Leah said while hoping to cheer up the girl. She hadn't seen a shooting star since Leah was three years old. Leah remembered her mom telling her to make a wish. I wish these dark times will end. Leah was sick and tired of being afraid of people coming to attack her and hearing that people had died in attacks and stuff like that.
Hopefully thinking the Wendi made a wish Leah asked her a question. " What was your wish? I mean if you..you made one.". Leah was still scared to be in the grounds so she stammered in fear a little. Even though she wasn't hurt in any attack, she saw what the Death Eaters could do. " What are your parents' jobs?" Leah asked in pure curiosity. Leah was very curious when she met new people. " Do you have any siblings?" Leah asked. What time is it? Leah looked at her silver wrist watch. 7:12.

Wendi nodded as Leah said she was outside for the same reasons. Well, at least I'm not alone. She thought. Leah then said something about making a wish on a shooting star. She turned to look at it. Wendi stifled a little. Her first thought was why bother, but since when was Wendi like that. She had always been the kind of person to believe in wishes and luck. That stupid attack couldn't change her! I have to stand strong. She thought. I need to get better. Wendi knew time would change it all. She knew that everything would get better with time. But, maybe that time was just too far away for her. Wendi looked at the shooting star Leah had referred to. I wish time would stand still. She thought. Because for a moment justa few seconds before, Wendi had just felt happiness and nothing else. This is exactly what she needed. Wendi needed to be happy besides everything that happened and that would happen. Wendi was against Death Eaters, of course she would be hurt again. She knew this and couldn't change it. But, maybe next time she could try and forget the pain. Yep, everything would be better if time would freeze.
Wendi looked a Leah and sighed as she asked what she wished for. "I want time to freeze. Maybe then the world will be good even if it's all a lie." She said softly not knowing if that made sense or not. Wendi looked up at the sky again. The stars shown so brightly. They were one thing Wendi could count on. She knew no matter what, they would always shine. They were something that could never die. "What was yours?" Wendi asked referring to Leah's wish. There was nothing wrong with being curious. Wendi looked down as Leah asked questions. She asked about her parents and their jobs and if she had siblings. She knew what to say, but Wendi wished she didn't have to. She took a deep breath.
"Umm, they don't do anything." She said trying to remain calm. She wasn't going to cry, but she still felt pain in saying the words. "They were killed when I was about a year old. I never really knew them." She explained s she tilted her head up from its gaze at the ground. The next question was about siblings. Wendi's faced perked up trying to forget about what she had just said. "Yea, one brother." She said calmly. "Jamison, he's a Ravenclaw fifth year and my best friend pretty much." She gave a little smile. "What about you, any siblings?" Wendi plastered a make smile on hr face. She didn't like answering those questions or at least the first one, but Wendi needed to get used to saying it.

Wendi told Leah what her wish was. " Nice wish, I wished the attacks and dark times will end." Leah said to answer Wendi's question. Wendi answered Leah's question about her parents. " Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Leah said. Leah couldn't bear living a life with out her parents. Leah saw Wendi's eyes filling up with tears. " I bet it's tough living with out or even knowing your parents." Leah said while looking down. " Well at least you're not alone in the world, I mean at least you got a brother." Leah said while trying to be optimistic. " What's your favorite color?" Leah asked while trying to avoid questions about Wendi's parents. Leah's head was pounding and wanting Leah to ask questions about her parents. Leah just stood still and silent.
Leah felt sorry for Wendi and Jamison even though she didn't know him. No parents? Where do they live? Are they always sad? Leah had questions filling her head, but Leah didn't want to ask them. " Do you want to dip our feet in the lake and talk?" Leah asked while looking at Wendi. Leah had one question that really needed to break free. " Do you have any boys you like, or boyfriends?" Leah said while smiling. Leah looked at the shadow of the Whomping Willow. It was pounding its branches on the ground. Then Leah looked at the castle and all the lights gleaming out of the windows. " Doesn't the windows with the lights on in them look like floating boxes?" Leah asked while waiting for a response.

Leah said she sorry to hear about Wendi's parents. Who wouldn't be? Any time Wendi mentioned people immediately said they were sorry. Of course, they couldn't help it. They didn't know that Wendi just needed them to nod and go on. They were after all human. They would always say they were sorry even if they didn't care at all. Wendi nodded looking at Leah. "It was a long time ago." She said just wanting to move forward with the conversation and not dwell on the past. Then, Leah said something about it must be tough to not have parents. Wendi looked at Leah for a moment. Yes, it was. Wendi couldn't really argue that issue so she just nodded again. Being silent was easy and much less complicated even for Wendi the talker. Then Leah said something about having her brother there with her. Wendi's face lit up. "Yea, Jamison has been there with me always. In fact, I think my earliest memory was him singing me a song." As a matter of fact, it had been the very song Wendi had sung the night Death Eaters appeared. Her mother sang that to her as a baby. Wendi loved the song, but for the moment, she would rather not sing it. After all, that night had been painful in memories and in just plain pain.
Wendi's eyes lit up when Leah asked what her favorite color was. This was a topic she was perfectly happy to discuss. Wendi gave a little grin. "Umm, I like so many." She said pondering. "I guess lime green and hot pink are my favorites." Truly Wendi liked any sort of bright colors, but she really did love the ones she had listed. Wendi liked cheery topics like this. They were easy to discuss and pain free. There was no harm in talking about things with no link to her parents at all. Wendi smiled when Leah asked if she wanted to dip her feet in the lake and talk. This girl really wants to get to know me, huh? Wendi pondered to herself. Hey, what the heck. Leah seemed nice and since when did Wendi Parson turn up the chance to dip her feet in the lake? NEVER! "But, of course." Wendi giggled and agreed as she dipped her feet in the icy waters of the Black Lake.
Wendi turned to look at Leah at her next question. She didn't even have to think about the answer. "Truthfully, I think I'm too young for a boyfriend. I have a lot of boys who are my friends though." She said calmly letting her squeaking voice not be heard. "What about you? You're a third year, yes?" Wendi asked. She really thought that third year would be when students needed to date or have crushes. But, that's just the way she was raised. Wendi looked at the castle when Leah said how the lights looked like floating boxes. She nodded. "Actually, that was the first thing I noticed when I came to Hogwarts. I saw how pretty the lights were in the darkness. They looked so majestic." Wendi said in a trance glaring at the lights. She soon snapped out of it realizing how stupid it must seem. "Well, where do you live? I mean outside of Hogwarts?" Wendi asked promptly changing the subject. She glanced at Leah awaiting an answer.
