Luna let out a puff of breath as she stood calmly in the middle of the Grounds with the tall towers of Hogwarts looming high into the sky behind her while eminating a soft glow of light from their numerous windows. It was dark outside. It wasn’t that overly late yet but the dark storm-clouds were shading the whoel world in gray as it was snowing thickly. Luna blinked her eyes from time to time as her long eye-lashes caught snowfalkes rather often. She was dressed nicely. A white dress with the bodicy worked nicely, a string of white flowers around her waist and a long skirt that fell nicely to the ground and a pair of bright-green slippers under the flowing skirt. Her dirty-blond hair was loose once and hanging to her waist with a couple of the smae white blooms aorund her waist were thrown seemingly carelessly into her hair. Most likely they were thrown there carelessly. The only thing offering colour to the scene were a pair of neon-green ear-rings dangling from Luna’s ears. They were both butterbeer bottles, charmed to be smaller and then Luna had added feathers into the bottles. The outcome was stunning.
Luna didn’t mind the goose-bumps on her bare shoulders as she caught one snowflake on the tip of her gloved finger and brought it up to her nose trying to catch the scent of snow. Snow, cinnamon, peppermint, misteltoe and pine-trees made up the smell of winter. The smell of Christmas. Sticking her tongue out Luna caught some snowflakes on her tongue letting htem melt there. This was also part of Christmas. Daddy loved Christmas so Luna had learned to love it too. Daddy was alwyas correct. They owuld go home, talk, drink hot milk and sing loudly. Daddy would sing too even though he could never hold a tune. But it was the joy of singing that mattered not how well you could sing. Spreading her arms Luna started twirling trying to catch as many snowflakes on her tongue and arms as possible.

Solitaire had felt like being alone, and it was so crowded in the common room. It had made her decide to come out even on this cold day. Solitaire had made sure that she had bundled up as warmly as she could. She had worn a pair of light blue jeans trimmed at the bottom with a beautiful soft green fur. The trim obviously dyed that color since as far as Taire knew there was no animal with green fur. She had adorned the jeans with a small green shagged sweater, and a soft black duster jacket that was also trimmed with the same green looking fur. Green was one of Taire's favorite colors, which might be part of the reason that she didn't enjoy winter too much. Winter made everything that was pretty and green turn brown and look dead.
Taire continued on her walk, suddenly noticing a girl standing in the snow as it had just began to fall. That was one of the things Solitaire did like about winter, the first snow. It was always so pretty. Taire wondered who the girl was, and couldn't tell until she began to get closer to the girl. It was Luna Lovegood. Taire had heard about Luna, a lot of the other students called her "Looney" but Taire didn't understand why. Taire had always been a bit of a loner, but that didn't make anyone loony. It usually just meant that they preferred to be left alone.
" Um.. Hi, your Luna, right?" Taire said as she approached the girl. She was almost sure that she had gotten the name right. " I'm Solitaire." She said smiling at the girl.

Luna reached out her tongue and caught a snowflake on it before pulling the snowflake iwth her tongue back into her mouth quickly where the snowflake melted. It was said that no two snowflakes had the same shape. Did that mean that no two snowflakes had the same taste? It was true up to one point. You couldn’t compare the clean air and hterfore the pure rain in some pine forest to the acidy rain in some huge city. Trying to prove her theory Luna hopped to her left for 2 feet and stuck her tongue promptly out again. Catching one more snowflake on her tongue Luna let this one melt in her mouth as well as she investigted to see any diference in the taste.
It was then someone greeted her. Luna turned and blinked her eyes at the newcomer turning her head to the side much like a big bird would. The girl had called her Luna, not Loony like so many people called her. Luna never knew what brought on such a nickname. People didn’t know how much being called named hurt. Moving her head to the other side Luna tried to catch a snowflake on her nose and the balance it there. “Did you know that nargles like to live in misteltoe? They might infest your green cloak if you don’t watch it.“ Luna moved her head back upwards and spread out her arms starting to twirly slowly trying to gather as many snowflakes as possible on her bare shoulders and gloved arms as possible.

Solitaire smiled while she watched Luna. "No, I didn't know that." She said looking around to be sure that there was no mistletoe nearby. "I wouldn't want anything infecting my cloak." Soltaire said pulling her cloak tighter around her. She wondered what Luna was doing out in the cold. "I'm Solitaire by the way... you can call me Taire if you like. My friend does anyway. So, if you don't mind my asking, what are you doing? It's freezing out here." Taire spoke these words with a bit of a chatter in her teeth. She had forgotten her gloves and muffs.
Solitaire loved the snow, so it didn't matter that she was cold, she had only come for a short walk through it as it fell fresh. Fresh snow was the best as far as Taire's opinion would lead anyone to believe.
((sorry so short..inspiration running low))

Luna smiled hazily at Solitaire her eyes glazed over as she stared at the horizon looking for a Big Foot. “Cloaks are overrated. They are made out of leather often. I think that the only cloak one should wear would have to be made out of snake-skin, because snakes shed their skin and therefore no one would be hurt. But then the problem would be where to find big enough snakes. Perhaps a basilisk.” Luna twrled slowly not caring the least that her skirt was getting wet in the snow and starting to drag on the ground and getting dirty. It did not matter. Nothing mattered but life. And love. Love was good. Daddy wouldn’t have picked such a last name for them is love wasn’t good. And daddy was always correct.
Luna looked back at Taire noting how she shivered and shrugged having to pull the strap of her dress up on her shoulder again after the movement. So many people have looked at her curiously at her attire laughing as if she was crazy. “Haven’t you learned Charms?” Luna asked curiously at the comment about being cold. It was so easy to make sure you wouldn’t get cold, yet no one in the castle seemed to see it in the solutions simplicity.

Solitaire liked the chill even if it did mean that she seemed to be freezing to others. "Yes, I have learned charms, but I enjoying wearing my cloak. My father had it made just for me, out of the finest velvet that he could find." She said rubbing her lovely green cloak. Solitaire realized that she might sound a bit like a snob about her cloak, but it was the truth. She did enjoy wearing it, more than she would enjoy performing charms on herself.
"Snake skin cloaks would be fasinating. But as you pointed out, there would be a problem with finding enough snake skin to make cloaks. And even if they could use Basilisk for it's skin, there would be the problem of whom ever was harvesting the skin getting petrified or worse." Taire tried to make conversation with Luna but wasn't sure if she would be able too.
((Sorry it's took so long. Taire had a bit of a block))

Luna looked at the girl seriously looking at the green velvet. Green was a good colour. Warm and friendly and reminded her of Christmas Trees and Father Christmas. Blaise Zabini had promised her to find out if the Malfoys were related to Santa Claus as well. Beaming happily at the thought Luna nodded to Taire before pulling the wet and therefore heavy hem of her dress a bit upwards so she could move without stumbling on it. The snow had seeped into the cloth that had been dragging in the snow so the fabric had simply stretched. “Basilisks shed their skin do they not? All snakes do so perhaps harvesting such a skin would not be a problem. Or maybe blind people could harvest the skin but how would they know which skin is still on the basilisk and which is not?” Luna mused slowly as she started to hop off towards the direction of the quidditch pitch.
Noticing that she was moving alone Luna stopped and looked back at Taire thoughtfully. “I’m going to see if the Blubadups left behind any feathers on the quidditch pitch. Do you want to come along?” Luna stared at Taire a few moments without blinking before continuing her hopping.
