Alarice pushed open the castle doors and stepped out into the afternoon sunlight. Classes had just let out, and she had decided to go and get some fresh air before heading into the great hall for dinner, especially since most of the snow had melted and the temperature had risen over the long weekend. She meandered past the students on their way up to the castle from their Care of Magical Creatures lesson, and settled herself down beside the great oak tree on the banks of the lake. She leaned her head against the bark and stared off at the mountains in the distance, thinking about nothing much in particular. Absentmindedly, Alarice began to hum the tune to one of her many unfinished songs...

Jessica stood up from the tree she was sitting by and stretched happily because she had finally finished her homework. As she sat back down and put her pieces of parchment, ink, quill, and books back in her bag and instead pulled her book favorite book of all time The Eldest. As she sat with her legs curled up under her she noticed a girl that was in her house and in the same year and house walk by but thought nothing of it. After a while she became tired of reading and decided to go back but right before she got up she noticed the same girl she had seen walk by earlier sitting at a huge oak tree humming a cool sounding song. Even though this girl was in the same house and year as her they had never properly met she thought her name was Alarice Blackstill but she wasn't sure. She quickly grabbed her bag and walked over to her. she didn't seem to notice so as she sat down next to her she asked what song is that? It sounds really cool. As she waited for her to reply she tucked a piece of her long blonde hair behind her ear.

Alarice looked up from her trance and realized with a shock that someone had been listening to her. She didnt mind much, it had just surprised her. She then realized that it was a girl, and that she had asked her a question. Alarice remembered instantly what she had been humming and immediately her cheeks flushed red. "Oh its-well it was just something I made up a while back. Nothing special." She said with a light nervous giggle. "I'm Alarice. And your Jessica right?" She asked with a small smile, recovering from her embarrassment. She scooted over so the the girl could sit beside her against the wide trunk of the tree, and slid her side back pack out of the way.

The girl looked up at her and she could tell she was a little embarrassed. I hope I didn't embarrass her too much Jessica thought to herself. pulling her head out of the clouds she heard Its Jessica write. Ya, thats me she replied with a smile re tucking a piece of her blonde hair. For some reason sitting next to this girl made Jessica remember the time her and her muggle friend Sarah had first met. Jessica was upset though she couldn't remember why and she ran to the park trying to get away from her parents. She sat down near a tree and started crying. Sara must have seen her because she came up to her and started talking to her trying to cheer her up ever since then they had been best friends. Looking back at Alarice Jessica asked so... what do you think of hogworts?

Al smiled as Jessica asked her what she thought of Hogwarts. "Well I love it of course!" She said with a wide grin, stretching out her legs infront of her and sweeping back her long reddish brown hair. "I have a home here. All my friends are here. I'm so glad I'm not a 7th year becaue I wouldnt be able to leave!" She thought of what her life would be like if she hadnt had Hogwarts to come back to every September and shuddered. "I mean, when I first came here, I didnt want to leave home. But that was when my mum and I were close. Before she met Frank." Alarice let out an exasperated sigh and shook her head. "Frank, if your wondering, is my new step-dad." She said with a small groan. "But anyways, what about you? Do you like it here at Hogwarts?"

Oh, yes I absolutely love it! Jessica said answering Alarice's question. I would live here during the summer if I could. This is the only place I feel like I am home. I mean don't get me wrong my aunt is great and all but I don't now how much of her nagging I can take, it is driving me up the wall. Jessica study every day or you are going to be a failar when you grow up, Jessica if you don't clean your room no one is going to give you a job because you are such a slob Jessica mimicked.
(sorry it is so short I couldn't think of anything next one will be better)

(its okay, and sorry it has taken forever for me to get back to you! been super busy with school and that crap. ) Alarice giggled as Jessica explained how her aunt was very naggy. "Be thankful she even cares." Al said with a small laugh. "If-ahh..." Alarice stopped herself in mid sentence. She was about to go on about it again, and she hated that. She hated thinking, talking, even just referring to her problems with her mother and Frank. She didnt want pity, and she didnt want others to think she wanted attention. Actually, she didnt even want to aknolodge it anymore. She decided to change the subject as quickly as possible. "So, why do you live with your aunt?" Alarice asked curiously. "Dont you have a mom and dad?" She began to pick at a blade of grass nonchalantly. Squinting in the bright and quite annoying sunlight, Alarice looked over at Jessica and waited for a reply.

Jessica finished mimicking her aunt and Alarice said be thankful she cares. If ah… she didn't continue after that and she could tell she was trying to change the subject. Alarice finally said quickly so, why do you live with your aunt don’t you have a mom or dad. She felt her stomach drop even though it happened a few years ago she still hated talking about it looking back at her she saw Alarice picking at a piece of grass picking a piece of she started doing the same. Not even looking at her she said almost a little robotically she said I did have a mom and dad but one night they decided to go out for dinner. They were on there way back and they got into a car crash with a drunk driver. Hit them dead on and you now what the person who did it didn't even go to jail it’s a muggle place kind of like Azkaban she said just to make sure she new what it meant. Looking back up at Alarice she said ever since I have lived with my aunt. Anyway she said trying to change the subject do you like quitadge are you on the team or a cheerleader?

Alarice felt her heart sink the moment the words came out of her mouth. What an insensitive question! She thought to herself, watching helplessly as Jessica's face fell and as she turned her attention to the ground and began picking at the long moist grass blades. I really need to stop doing that. I probably hurt her feelings, or jogged a bad memory. Al was scolding herself, when suddenly Jessica spoke, inturrupting her thoughts.
Alarice didnt even have a chance to offer some sort of words of comfort about what Jessica had just told her, about the car crash that had killed parents. Almost immediately, the girl brought up Quidditch and Cheerleading or something, but Al hadnt really heard her. She knew that it was just to change the subject, so she took the cue just as quickly, and decided to lay off any questions she may have the urge to ask about the subject for a little while. No matter how hard that would be. "I would rather play Quidditch than cheerlead." She said vauguley, her mind still on Jessica's parents. It wasnt very often that she met someone who had lost both their mother and father. She didnt know quite how to act, should she sympathize, completeley act like it hadnt been mentioned in case she gets upset?.. "But I like to dance, so I guess cheerleading's fun. But quidditch is just amazing. What about you, which do you prefer?"

When Jessica looked back at Alarice she could tell she had been a little embarrassed that she asked so she quickly tried to change the subject to brighten the mood. What do you think of Quidditch? As the girl answered Jessica watched the girls face hopping that the girl had forgotten what she had said but of course she could tell she hadn't. Everyone she told had taken them a while to get over the shock. Half the time she didn't even want to tell that person about what had happened to her parents but for some reason she didn't mind telling this girl about them. She didn't now why she just did. Pulling her head out of the clouds she looked back at the girl when she asked so....how about you. I really want to be a cheerleader because I also love to dance but being on the team is up there too Jessica said with a energetic smile. So, what is your favorite class so far this year Jessica asked tucking a piece of her long blonde hair behind her ear. (love your avatar

Alarice nodded in agreement about loving to dance. "I've been dancing since I was four years old. I did a few ballet and tap dances back then. It was fun, but now I'm into hip-hop! Did you know that muggles do hip-hop too? It actually came from them you know! I find that so cool!" Said Alarice energenically. She had really been getting into her muggles studies lesson lately and loved to show off what she had learned. "Oh wait though! Are you muggle born? You probably already knew that, and think I'm a bit dimwitted, dont you?" Alarice said, her face falling. "You know, my father was a muggle." She said softly. "And that's why he left my mum. He was afraid of her, because she was a witch.."
Alarice sighed and leaned back against the tree trunk, pulling her legs up to her chest and grabbing her knees. "But anyways..." She said, her voice trailing off, deciding to answer Jessica's last question and change the subject, this time for her own purposes. "My favorite class is Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms! Any time I get to use my wand!" Alarice said, pulling her 9 inched mahogany wand out of her pocket and looking at it fondly. "Mines a unicorn. The core I mean..what about yours?" Al asked curiously, referring to Jessica's wand.

No, I don't think you are dim-witted Jessica said noticing Alaric's facial exspration change when she said "You know, my father was a muggle and that's why he left my mum. He was afraid of her, because she was a witch. she said this so softly Jessica could barely hear her. She felt lost of words at that moment she had never met someone who's parents were split up. All her friends parents were a happy merry family. She was usually quit envious of this but tried to ignore it. She was actually quit relived when Alarice changed the subject because she didn't now what to say. But anyways she said while pulling out a smooth piece of wood as she and every other wizard and witch new was a wand My favorite class is Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms! Any time I get to use my wand! Mines a unicorn. The core I mean..what about yours? Oh mine is a Phoenix feather and answering her own question that she had asked Alarice Ya, I love charms to but I also love Transfiguration.

Alarice was glad that Jessica had followed her lead and had let the subject gradually change. Alarice smiled as the girl mentioned that she enjoyed transfiguration. "Yeah, that's a good subject as well. Mcgonnigal is strict though. Better her than Snape." Al said with a small smirk, picturing her potions Professor's long greasy black curtains of hair that fell over is pallid face. "He is so unfair! He makes potions unbearable. I really wouldnt do that bad in his class if he didnt breathe down my back every second! He makes me so nervous, I nearly spilled my potion today!" Alarice complained, feeling suddenly greatful of her own head of house. Mcgonnigal could be so much worse...
(sorry it took so long for my reply!! Oh and I LOVE your new avvie!)

Jessica suppressed a giggle as Alarice said He is so unfair! He makes potions unbearable. I really wouldn't do that bad in his class if he didn't breathe down my back every second! He makes me so nervous, I nearly spilled my potion today! Ya, tell me about it though he could be worse also he could get in your face and yell at you instead, yuck him and his horse breath! Shaking her head Jessica said Yes, I am very happy that we have Professor Mcgonnigal for the head of our house! Could you Just imagine having Professor Bins for the head of our house, we would fall asleep every time he yells at us. I don't now why but his class bores me to utter death bow about you? Jessica smirked when she thought of Professor Bind pale ghostly body walking around yelling at people in such a boring way that half the students fell asleep listening to him. Shaking her head of these thoughts Jessica turned her attion back on Alarice and waited for n answer. (oh, thank you and thats ok I take forever somtimes too )
