Fiona sat looking around the Great Hall. The loud crowds of students seemed to engulf the entire space. She sat by herself at a corner of the Slytherin table. She wasn’t in the mood to converse with anyone, but then again she wasn’t in the mood for much of anything. She looked down at her potatoes. She was picking at them with her fork. She didn’t feel like finishing her food. She stood and quickly left the loud hall. She felt her head throbbing and she quickly exited the building to the grounds. Fiona made right for her normal place under a tree near the lake. She wanted to be alone; on the other hand, she wanted to talk with someone. She sat down and picked up a small rock near her. She threw the rock into the lake and watched the ripples grow larger and larger in the water. She sat back against the tree and looked up at the afternoon sky. It was partly cloudy, but the sun had still managed to find it’s way into the opening. The weather was getting colder and she wondered how much longer it would take until winter was upon them. She loved the snow and wanted it to come quickly so the whole world could be covered in white powder.
Fiona pulled out her wand and started levitating rocks that were around her. She would levitate them and then stack them on each other. She was bored and it was definitely showing. She continued to stack the stones on each other until a strong wind blew through and knocked her tower over. She smiled at the destruction and blasted the rocks away from her with her wand. She turned to a lone dandelion flower that had seemed to be able to survive fall. She picked the flower and began to tear the blossoms off one by one. When she finished that she took the blossomless flower and threw it into the lake. She gathered the yellow blossoms and one by one let the wind catch them and float away. She sighed at nature and ran her hands along the grass that was next to her. She began to pick at it with her hands and throw it in the air for the wind. Fiona sighed at her attempts to keep herself occupied.
Stopping, Fiona listened to the sounds around her. She could hear the soft howl of the wind on the building. The rustle of the leaves of the tree she was sitting under. In the distance she heard the sound of a bird crying out. The lake seemed to be splashing against the shore near it. She could hear her own breathing and her own heartbeat. Slow and steady. She brushed a hand through her hair as she felt the wind pick up. She loved it. She smiled at the serenity of the whole place. It seemed to be talking just to her. It was just for her to enjoy and no one would understand the beauty of such a joy. Fiona felt a slight tickle on her arm and looked down at it. A spider was crawling up her arm. Fiona smiled at the little creature and put her hand down to hold the thing in her hand. It was dark brown and seemed to be rather fond of Fiona. She continued to let it crawl from hand to hand as she watched it move. Each leg had its purpose of balance. Each eye had its purpose of seeing. Each hair had its own purpose of sensitivity. She placed her hand in the grass and allowed the spider to continue on its way. She looked up as she heard a sound near her. She waited in silence to see what it was.
