It was Sunday and Maryn was ready to leave the common room. Her semi rut was practically over and she was ready to let her hair down and have fun. She didn't want to be serious anymore. She was tired of acting that way. Maryn just wanted to enjoy life like she used to. After changing out of her pajamas and eating breakfast, she made her way out of the huge castle doors. The grounds weren't hot as usual. There was a nice breeze flowing through the grounds and Maryn let her hair blow freely behind her. Her hair had turned darker over the summer not lighter. She had stayed indoors for so long it didn't turn its usual summer blond. It was a light brunette and Maryn enjoyed that it was different.
Maryn continued her walk through the grounds. She couldn't think of what to do and she didn't see anyone she knew. She looked up and saw the sun gleam on her face. She laughed at it because she hadn't seen it for so long. All summer she had been inside because she was grounded and then right when the term started she was upset about the train attack. So, she stayed inside then too and a few weeks after that Maryn was forced to relive some old memories. All of this kept her indoors. But, now she was the old rebel, happy Maryn and that was the way she wanted it.
When she reached the lake she did a kart wheel beside it. She was bored and needed something to do. Maryn had to get in shape for cheerleading anyway. She then decided to go for a jog around the lake. It was so big she couldn't run beside all of it, but she just wanted to go a fair distance. Maryn always liked to challenge herself and explore new things. She was still racing along the outlines of the blue water when she heard a noise. She stopped and looked around her. Maryn didn't see anything so she shrugged and moved on. As she ran, she kept hearing noises, but she didn't stop. She wasn't afraid just curious. Whatever it was she could take it. Then, the noises stopped and she kept running, but now at more of an ease. Maryn had her eyes closed knowing her ears would lead her. Suddenly, she felt the pain as she ran into someone. She jolted back with her eyes still closed. When she opened them they were sort of fuzzy. She couldn't make out the figure of the person she hit. "Sorry." She said through the dizziness.

The first few weeks of school had flown by. Mirabel had been able to keep herself out of trouble for the most part. She was beginning to feel comfortable enough that she did not want Aedan around all the time. So after eating a hearty breakfast Aedan had decided to take a nice walk out on the grounds. He had been feeling confined to the castle lately and needed to get out in the sun. He hated it when he was not allowed to go outdoors and let the sun warm his face. The sun was good for the soul. It let him know he was alive and well. For a while he had sat by the lake just taking in its beauty and watching the giant squid swim around lazily.
Growing bored with this, however, Aedan decided a nice walk around the lake would suffice. He remembered that he would need to be owling his grandmother soon to assure her that Mirabel was coping well with school despite the attack on the train. He hoped that she would not have to see much more of the war while she was so young. It was bad enough she had gotten hurt in Diagon Alley and then the girl she had befriended was killed in the attack on the train. It was shaping up to be a not so pleasant year for first years. He did know, however, that as long as Hogwarts had Dumbledore they would be safe.
As he walked around the lake he heard the noises coming from up a head in front of him. Looking up he spotted a gryffindor girl jogging around the lake. Her eyes were closed and she seemed to be enjoying herself. Aedan recognized her as a third year too. Not wanting to interrupt her jog Aedan turned to face the lake and wait for her to get closer and notice him. His plan would have worked had her eyes not been closed. He felt her run into him and he stumbled a few steps before regaining his balance. "It's quite alright." he said in answer of her apology, "I'm Aedan Meletti. You look familiar are you a third year as well?"

Maryn's dizziness took a few moments before it disappeared. She could now see she was talking to a fellow third year. He told her he was fine and his name was Aedan. "Yea, Maryn Livley, Gryffindor third year. Your a Gryffindor too, right?" She asked the boy. Maryn looked at him for a second. His face was familiar, but she had never actually met him. Maryn looked around her. They were a ways from the castle. She then looked back at Aedan. "I didn't realize I ran out this far." Maryn said laughing pointing around her. Sometimes she could do things without realizing it. Maryn had ran all this way and she wasn't even tired. Probably because I haven't been outside in forever. She thought. This part of the grounds was unfamiliar to her. She had never been out that far. Maryn usually kept near the castle when she was with her friends.
"What brings you out here?" She asked Aedan. Maryn was a naturally curious person. She was also very smiley and almost never had a frown on her face. Lately however, her friends had been quite worried about her with the box she had kept herself in. She basically stayed in the common room in the corner, but now she was as good as new. Maryn was as happy and curious as ever and that made her even more happy. She hated the person she was after the train attack and she couldn't change it. Now she was better. I'm back. She thought

"Yeah I'm in Gryffindor." Aedan replied as he watched her come to her senses. His attention returned to the lake as she began speaking. When she asked him why he was out here a smile spread across his face. He turned to look at her when he answered.
"I just love being outside. It makes me feel alive." Aedan said echoing his thoughts from earlier. "Plus it's a nice day and Hogwarts has such a wonderful landscape. There's a little bit of something for everyone." He pointed back to the school as he explained, "There are the open fields for running and doing all sorts of activities, there's the Forbidden Forest near Professor Hagrid's hut. The lake for when you feel like relaxing or doing homework outside. There's just so much open space." Aedan turned back to look at Maryn and blushed.
"Sorry, I just got excited. I'm happy to be back at Hogwarts. I love it here. So what were you doing out here besides running into people?" He asked winking at her.
((Sorry it's so delayed college is killing me. I'll be on everyday from now on. Promise! ;D ))

Maryn laughed a little as Aedan talked about how much he loved the Hogwarts Grounds. He seemed like he truly loved the place. He apologized for it. "It's okay. I love this place to. Hogwarts is more of my home than my house in London. People get me here. Unlike, them." Maryn stressed "them" as she talked. Her parents never really got her. They wanted her to be something she wasn't. Anything but a Gryffindor. They thought that Gryffindors died young because they were so brave they were naive. And, because of that, they didn't really want to understand her. Maryn had gotten used to it, but she still secretly disliked them for it.
Aedan then asked what she was doing out there besides running in to people. Maryn gave out a smile. "Um, getting in to shape. I've sort of been inside all summer." She said. Maryn didn't really feel like telling him the whole story and she hoped he wouldn't ask. "Hey, you want to start walking back to the castle together?" Maryn asked. She didn't want to go alone. "It will probably take awhile. So, you can stay outdoors because I know you love it!" She said jokingly. Maryn waited for Aedan to reply.
