It was raining, but then it seemed to be raining a lot, and he couldn't let it keep him inside forever. Soon they would be heading home for the summer, and living in the center of London meant that the only time you went outside was to travel to another shop. At least at Hogwarts he could go outside just to be outside.
He walked across the wet grass, not bothering to shield himself form the rain, he would just use a drying charm when he returned to the castle. This was an afternoon to escape the rest of school life and just enjoy one of his last few days fully immersed int he magical world. After all, once he returned home again, he would be living the muggle life until the next September.

Lark loved the rain it made people think more. Like why did it rain and other things, mainly it just made them think. She liked today's rain most because it reflected her mood, down and depressed. Hogwarts would be over soon and she would be returning home. It's not that she didn’t like her home it was just she couldn’t stand one more dinner where her mom and dad complained about how now that she was a witch she couldn’t take over the family farm, and then a long explanation from her telling them she still could, and then them not even getting it.
Lark turned her thoughts back outside to the rain. It never complained about her and that was another main reason she loved it. She looked out over the grounds, no one was out there and that was the way Lark liked it. She stepped out into the rain not caring about being wet. Her normal T-shirt was white but she had a black jacket over it so she didn’t mind it being wet. She walked out over the lawns over to a tree where she could watch the rain better; there wasn’t any thunder or lightning so she wasn’t worried. Underneath the tree it was semi dry and not muddy at all, besides she wasn’t too worried about the jeans she had on.
She closed her eyes and leaned back against the tree. When she opened her eyes again she saw someone walking across the lawn. It was a boy she recognized as a Hufflepuff. He was older than she was and Lark didn’t know his name but that was ok she would enjoy the company if he decided to sit with her.

The rain was slowly soaking through his jeans, and the long sleeved orange shirt he wore, drops slowly dripped down off strands of his brilliant orange hair, and into his face. As he walked, he started moving his head from side to side, keeping time with the music he was singing in his head. He walked for a while longer before he looked up at the tree that he was approaching. It took him a moment to realize that he wasn't alone, there was a girl standing underneath. He didn't really know her, other that seeing her around school a few times.
He walked toward the tree, the tune still being sung in his heads. When he got close enough to see her face he smiled, and did an overly smooth spin and slide dance move finishing under the protection of the tree near her. "Good afternoon my fellow Hogwarts student"

Lark giggled as the boy spun underneath the tree ofering a warm greeting as he finished. She smiled and made a mock curtsey, considering she didnt have a skirt to curtsey in, just a soaked through pair of jeans.
"Welcome my friend" she said Lark gave him a large smile and stuck out her hand "Lark McCartney at your service" she said to him finishing with large smile. "This is such lovely weather we're having today, wouldnt you say"? Lark moved her hand to point to the land around them drenched in water and giggled, the rain was indeed was lovely and not that many people agreed with her all the time. Lark leaned up against a low branch that was close by, it was just as wet as everything around them but she didnt mind.

((Pardon the delay M'Lady, I really am going to try to be better about getting on the board. Wizards honor ....)) He flashed her a bright grin after she gave her introduction and a rather elaborate bow. "Payton Moore, Hufflepuff 6th year ready and willing to be called into duty." The words had hardly been spoken when he raised his eyebrows, a classic expression for him that there was more to be said or some detail left unspoken that he had no intention of saying. He turned his back to her and looked out across the sky. The blue was covered with deep grey clouds and the rain still pouring down. He was never really bothered by the rain. It was just water, and there was something oddly exhilarating about being soaked through and not needing to worry about it. "Its charming. Makes me want to have a picnic."

((No problem ;D))
Lark searched through her pockets, there were only a couple of them but she forgot which pocket she put her things in. Finally finding a pocket with a buldge she pulled out a pack of gum, his coment about having a picnic made her think about it. Stepping away from her protective branch she took a few steps foward so that she was closer to his line of sight and held out the packet. There was only one piece left but she didn't care for a peice.
"Will this work"? she said while she looked out at the slowly falling rain it was slowly falling but she liked it.

He eyed her for a moment as she dug in her pockets, grinning widely as she pulled out a piece of gum. He nodded, his eyebrows raising slightly as he did, but he didn't reach for the gum quite yet. Instead he reached into his pocket and drew his wand, and after mumbling a few words and doing a quick wave, he conjured a blanket. He had to admit, there were a few good things about being at the NEWT levels.
"Now it wouldn't be a picnic with out a blanket now would it." He grinned again, reaching out and taking the gum she had offered before settling down. "Though I have a better idea for the gum." His wand waved again, this time the gum doubling in size and slicing it in two. He might had been born into the muggle life, but he was getting rather use to his wand.
He grinned again looking over at Lake before he motioning for her to join him. "Its going to be a lovely picnic indeed."

Lark sat down on the blanket Payton had conjured, it was soft and actually very comfortable although it had been placed on the ground, she smiled at him when he offered the gum. She took the enlarged piece of gum and popped it into her mouth, the gum was from the candy shop so that it changed flavor every three minuets at the moment it was spearmint. She looked back to the rain, it was still falling but it made Lark wonder.
"Why are you out here in the rain"? she asked him trying not to sound nosy, one of her old muggle friends had told her that she was and since then she tried, unsuccessfully, to be unnosy. She turned her gaze back to Payton's face to see his reaction. Oh my gosh what if it is some private matter all the worst thoughts passed through her head since she knew she was being nosy.

He smiled at her question and shrugged slightly, enjoying the flavor of his own gum, which was watermelon. There wasn't too much of a reason really, but then he didn't need much of a reason to do anything. "I'm just enjoying being a Hogwarts. Soon its back to the muggle world and I am afraid I will miss my wand as well as the fact there is grass here instead of just concrete." He flashed her another friendly smile before leaning back on the blanked he had conjured, resting his weight onto his elbows as he looked up at the leaves of the tree, moving slightly with the falling rain.
"Should probably explain that a bit, aye? I live right in the heart of London, with a lovely, yet large and busy muggle family, so once we leave school good bye to magic as well as even the slightest bit of peace and quiet."

"Interesting" she said "I just love the rain. I also come out side when its raining at home" Lark wasn't sure if she should go on about her family and all that but since he did she decided it wouldn't be to bad. "I live on a farm in Ireland with my Aunt and Uncle, who are both muggles by the way. My parents were also muggles and I'm guessing my new cousin is also a muggle. He was adopted just last week by my parents, thats what I call my aunt and uncle since they have custody of me" it was a long story but it explained alot about her past and she thought it was a good explaination.
"What are you going to do when you go home"? Lark wanted to change the subject away from her family 'cause at the moment she wasnt to happy with them.

He noticed how she bruised over her family and moved back to his own life. He didn't mind, he knew that sometimes it wasn't easy to talk about something happening in your own life. His life, for as chaotic as he could be sometimes, wasn't a bad one, nor were his summers most of the time.
"Lets see...when I'm home, I am normally either baby sitting or working. I have 6 younger siblings--Alex, the oldest is 12, but they go down to Wesley, who just turned 2. But then, I work full time as a baker in a cafe near home, and then I work weekends in the Cubby as a baker and server."
He flashed Lark an easy going smile and shrugged slightly. Most of his summer was spend working--but then in a family with 11 children, who were also considering taking on foster children, it was a necessity if you wanted much of anything. Besides, he was coming to his last year at Hogwarts, and he needed money to do something with his life after that.
