The year was ending and luckily the OWLs were over for Kris as well. Meaning Kris didn’t show up in any classes he was still supposed to have anymore. The only time professors saw him was when he had detention and Kris had detention until the very last day of school – or at some dinners. Every free moment Kris spent either in quidditch practice, swimming or wandering around the Hogwarts grounds. Right now Kris was brushing a thestral’s fur at the edge of the Forbidden Forest with an ironic smirk on his lips as he had detention right now because of being caught in the Forest.
Finishing the grooming Kris smiled at the dragon-like creature and petted it’s huge head. “Will you take me for a ride?” Kris asked as the big animal threw its head back and screeched. A moment later Kris was sitting on the big male’s back as the animal galloped through the trees and when reaching the clear ground took off the land. Bowing low over the creatures’ long neck to make air-resistance as little as possible Kris smiled. He wasn’t afraid of anyone seeing him – most people didn’t see thestrals, so the site would be weird – but more accurately Kris doubted that a lot of people would actually be up already as it was around 5.30 as Kris suspected.
“Lets go get my cloak, boy,” Kris whispered to the thestral and applying pressure with his knees – much like one would do with a horse – turned the thestral who lowered itself over the water so Kris could touch the tentacle of the Giant Squid who raised it in almost greeting. Kris had an absolutely magical contact with animals and the huge squid was actually only shy, not dangerous. The squid didn’t always know it’s full strength compared to a human, Kris had had his fair share of bruises to prove that, but it would not attack.
As the thestral carried them towards the shore, where Kris had left his cloak earlier, Kris sat up more straightly noticing with surprise a figure sitting at the lake-shore. A younger student than he was Kris decided as they were approaching and a moment later noticed with a small flash of irritation that she was sitting on the hem of his cloak. The thestrals hooves hit the ground as he ran the rest of the way until stopping a couple of metres before the girl as Kris eyed her coldly. A Gryffindor on top of everything else. At least Kris was planning on not using the cloak anymore either way. But he couldn’t really leave the matter just like that either. “You do know you are sitting on my cloak,” Kris drawled lazily with an arch of his eye-brow. He was wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt, so the girl might not know Kris’s house. If that was the case, then seeing her reaction when she would notice the crest on Kris’ cloak might be amusing.

((ok....I might've made some mistakes....but please bear with it..and O.W.L.S. do finish before exams, right?))
Katrina looked down at her piece of parchment with a smile. They were just sitting the last exam of the year, History of Magic. She read and re-read her answers and, finally satisfied with them, she put her quill down and stretched her arms. After a few minutes, the boring sound of Professor Binns could be heard throughout the Hall. The doors burst opened magically and the once silent hallway was filled with hundreds of students talking about the exams and their holidays. Katrina walked out with her friends, saying how easy this exam was and how hard that exam was. But then a thought came to her. She had been so tired from all the revision that she had totally forgotten about it. She said good bye to her friends and walked out to wards the lake to think about the thought.
She saw lots of students laughing and joking around with their friends, and feeling herself relaxing a bit, she slowed her pace and halted to a stop in front of the lake. Not really paying attention, she sat down and suddenly felt alone. Her father had died two years ago, and this year would be the second year that she would be having the holiday with out him. She breathed a long sigh and imagined what it would be like if her dad was still around.
She was brought back to reality when a voice made her jump. She turned around and looked up to find a boy older than her arch an eyebrow at her. She shot him a confused look, while sitting there waiting for the words to sink in. It only took her a minute to realize that she was sitting on his cloak. "What? Oh..." She jumped up and looked down at the cloak, and saw that it was a Slytherin's one. She looked back up at the boy and pointed to it, and said, "You mean this one? But it's a Slytherin's!" At this moment there were three emotions twisted onto her face: surprised, anger and fright.

Kris let an amused smirk raise onto his face at the girl’s words. Patting the head of the thestral he was sitting on Kris sneered: “And what makes you think I’m not a Slytherin? You re lucky the cloak was going to be thrown away anyway.” Kris added with a hiss. True, the cloak was only a couple of months old, but it was made for this school-year so Kris would be throwing it away without a second thought. Throwing it away or whatever it was that his house-elves would do with it. Tilting his head Kris sneered at the girl: “And you still haven’t apologized humbly enough for getting anywhere near my things. Actually – maybe you shouldn’t speak – might scare people with weaker nerves. Stop breathing as well – you are ruining the good air around here.” Kris was in a too good mood to bother hexing the girl. Or thinking up some good insult. The thestral Kris was sitting on screeched and raised to its hind feet and Kris glanced up where two female thestrals and a year old foul were visible. The male on whose back he was sitting was most certainly ready to return to his little herd now. Throwing his leg over the animals back Kris slipped onto the ground and pulled a ferret from one of the branches throwing it to the male with an arch. A couple of moments later the ferret was eaten and the thestral took off after pushing Kris with it’s dragon-like head gently. Being rather certain that the girl would have taken off by now – most people in their right minds would have ran from the presence of an older Slytherin – Kris stretched lazily and stood on his hands for a moment before lowering himself back onto his feet and stretching once again. Today was most certainly too glorious to get into the castle. Kris’ eyes slipped to the Forbidden Forest ponderingly, having already brushed the little Gryfindor-girlie from his mind as not important. ((Well, I said it's rather early in the morning. Even mentioned hte time to be around 5.30, but no worries. )

((What, you did? Where? Oh, I see it....maybe I'll modify it..... :Phehe....or you can ignore what I wrote..^^'' And I think I'm not going to make Kat run from you, no, it's too fast for this post to finish..))
Katrina watched with her mouth open as the Slytherin boy patted the head of a thestral, surprised by the fact that he is a Slytherin, but scared at the same time. Usually Katrina didn't mind being with a Slytherin, but this time, she was rather frightened. Maybe it was because he's a lot older than her. "Yeah? Think I'm lucky do you? Well what will happen to me if you weren't going to throw it away? And why should I apologize to an arrogant Slytherin like you? You Slytherins think that you are so on top of everyone. But that doesn't mean you can insult other people. And people smaller than you too. Why don't you pick on someone your own size? And If you think that I'm ruining the so called 'good' air around here, you have the right to stop breathing! But I'm going to continue with my breathing thanks." She tried to get her breathing steady again. It wasn't always that you get this chance to say something in one breath to a Slytherin older than yourself. And boy! Was it hard!
A screech was heard and Katrina automatically turned her gaze to the thestral he was sitting on. Katrina could see more thestrals that seemed to be waiting for it to rejoin them. "Well, looks like your thestral friend here was faster than you to find a pal, if you get what I mean." She added with a smirk.
As soon as the thestral returned to it's family, Katrina looked up at the boy to see him gazing at the Forbidden Forest, as though longing for a trip in there. "Oh no you don't. You're going to go into the Forbidden Forest aren't you? Well if you take one step to wards it, I'm....I'm going to....tell Professor McGonagall!!" She stammered a bit when saying it, and hoping that he hadn't noticed, she took a few steps to wards the castle, as though meaning what she said.

Amusement flickered through Kris’s eyes as he turned to eye the Gryffindor girl once again. “Pick on someone my own size? But no one my own size here would sit on my cloak – they would be smarter than that,” Kris drawled out lazily, “Besides there aren’t anyone else around in case you haven’t noticed so far. Kris eyed the girl thoughtfully. A ‘pal’ – Kris smirked. If not to mention the friends she had in Slytherin and the one in Ravenclaw – what would the girl think if Kris said that one of his friends – or at least someone he sometimes talked to – was a Gryffindor? An irritating one surely, but a pure-blood and related to one of Kris’ friends.
What did interest Kris was that the young girl dared to threaten him with McGonagall. In a completely thoughtless Gryffindor way it was even brave in some way Kris decided. Taking two steps towards the direction of the Forbidden Forest Kris turned and smirked: “And the little lion tries to roar. I took two steps. Shouldn’t you be hurrying towards McGonagall now?” Besides he had already came from the Forbidden Forest – he had met the thestrals there as always. He could return to the Forest later that evening. One of the options was to go swimming as Kris wanted to get a closer look to the cave where a tunnel led near the bottom of the lake. Or trek towards the cliff at the far edge of Hogwarts grounds as Kris wasn’t going to get to his classes anyway – the grounds consisted much more than only the forest, lake and castle, even though most people didn’t seem to realize that. Kris figured that he had probably seen more of the grounds than most other students even knew about them.
But perhaps a bit amusement before that. Turning his smirk towards the girl now Kris had to suppress his laughter as he took one more step backwards towards the Forbidden Forest and spread his hands: “And see, one more step. That’s three more than you ‘allowed’ me to take. And I still don’t see McGonagall rushing towards me.”

Katrina listened as he 'argued' back at her. She didn't know what to say. Normally she wouldn't go and argue with someone, and this one's a first. Hearing what he said, she just gaped up at him, but quickly closed it again. It was the first time she had ever threatened someone, and she was surprised that he answered her like that. "It's...It's too early to...to go and find her! I might find her later, if I remember. And anyway, why do you want to go into the Forbidden Forest? My mum said that everyone has a reason behind what they're doing. And aren't you scared that there are werewolves? They might kill you." She added in a whisper, as though scared she might wake them up.

And amused smirk raised onto Kris’s face: “A free tip. Consider it your lucky day. Never threat unless you have something to back your threat up.” ‘Or you’ll end up with someone like me how can see through the threat’ Kris added in his mind. The girl would really need to learn who to stay clear of if she wanted to get through school without too many horrifying memories. Kris had to strain for a moment to hear what she was whispering. Werewolves. What did people have against werewolves? It was a disease like any other. That shabby looking Lupin had been a werewolf and they had all survived.
Sending an annoyed glance to the girl Kris replied: “Really now? Werewolves can smell, so aren’t you afraid they’ll come out of the forest to eat you here? Doubt you’d put up too much of a fight. Fresh meat, not to hard yet, easy to catch – an easy snack.” A slow arch of an eye-brow and Kris answered himself: “The sodding werewolves live in the center of the Forest and don’t come out. Besides do you see a full moon in the sky? Rather be scared of the aranchids, aragogs and centaurs. You’d have more possibilities of running into them.”
Snapping his fingers and hitting the girl’s temple lightly, Kris sneered: “I know it’s an almost impossible thing to ask from a reckless Gryffie, but do try to think sometimes. Saves the rest of us from the trouble of having to live through your babbling. And now I’ve done the good deed of the year as well.” Kris didn’t bother to add that he had been romping in the Forbidden Forest since he was a third year. He was VERY rarely caught there anymore, but most of the professors still suspected he went there. Snape did, McGonagall and Hardy most certainly as well. Kris knew how to take care of himself.
Right now he would go for a walk to the grounds to the side of the Forbidden Forest. Crouching down Kris pulled a small silvery whistle from the pocket of his cloak and blew it. The whistle didn’t make any sound that would reach a human’s ear, but Kris knew it would alert the small vixen residing near the edge of the Forest that trusted Kris, as Kris fed her rather often. Slipping the whistle around her neck Kris blew it once again – it was much like the dog whistles muggles used, even though Kris often conveniently forgot it – and started walking towards the eastern corner of the castle at a leisurely pace while keeping his ears open for anything the girl might try to do. Would she try to throw some comment at Kris’s back, run back to school? Maybe even try to catch up to Kris and tell her opinion of the Slytherin house into his face? The last idle thought made Kris grin for a moment.
((Don't run. Kris is in a good mood ;D And I like this thread))

"Oh thank you so much for your tip, Mr. Nice Guy. Without it, I'm sure I would've DIED!" She said sarcastically, while rolling her eyes.
"Well, I think that werewolves are more scarier than centaurs and what's it called? Oh yeah, aranchids. And what's an aranchid?" She asked with a confused face. "And anyway, I wasn't babbling, I was SCARED!! Every person has the right to be scared! And I was too busy thinking whether or not there would be werewolves to look up and see whether or not there was a moon! And you shouldn't hit a person's head!" Katrina carried on while rubbing her temple. "It hurts, you know?"
Then the boy took out a small, silvery whistle that shone under the light. It looked just like the dog whistle her friend had once. It even made no sound, exactly like a dog's whistle. "Hey! What's that?" At first, she thought it WAS a dog whistle, but then she wondered why would a Slytherin be carrying something from the muggle world? That thought made her laugh. But she stayed silent and watched as the boy left her standing there. "Hey! Wait! Where are you going?" She ran up towards him and stood in front of him, stopping him in his tracks. She bent down and clutched her side, while gasping for air. After a few minutes, she stood back up and faced him. "Uh Mr. Nice Guy! Earth to the arrogant Slytherin! I just asked where you are going?" She wanted to go with him, but didn't know how to say it. How many times does a Gryffindor need to ask a Slytherin to take them with them? ZERO.

“No you will die anyway, whether I gave you that tip or not, if you don’t start thinking. I thought Gryffindors were supposed to be brave, so how can you freeze with fear and loose the ability to think? Werewolves don’t wonder around during day-time,” Kris answered with a sneer before fainting mock shock, “Oh wait, Gryffindors aren’t brave or able to think. They just foolishly rush head-first into danger and leave getting them out of trouble to everyone else, making others suffer. The-boy-who-just-wouldn’t-die is a good example – who dragged him into safety last time?” Stories of what had happened had traveled all over the wizarding community and over the school as well. Even Kris, who didn’t bother to listen to rumors nor did he spend very much time making small-talk even with his house-mates had heard a couple of versions of what exactly had happened. “The lunatic Ravenclaw? Old ‘Dumbly’? Clearly Wonder-kid doesn’t have enough sense to take care of himself,” Kris sneered arrogantly and without missing a step walked right pass the Gryffindor. Did she really think something as easy as stepping onto his patch would falter Kris? Kris wondered silently if most students in the school realized themselves as well how much out of shape they were. Quidditch players got some practice and those few people who practiced something themselves, out waving a wand didn’t really help staying fit. Maybe that was why so many wizards often had health-problems. The girl was already gasping for air after a couple of feet and Kris wasn’t even walking quickly! Blowing the whistle once again Kris felt content as he caught a streak of silver from his eye-corner. The vixen was here, even though she didn’t dare to approach just yet because of the Gryffindor. “And I don’t think it’s any of your problem, where I’m going is it? As you’re still not running towards McGonagall like a goody-two-shoes should be doing already. Or shouldn’t you be revising every little scrap you might actually know so you might actually not shame your house – even though it can’t really be shamed much worse.” Kris continued walking falling into a familiar pace. His father had taught it to him, when he was about five and called it wolf-walk. It took you forward fast, and didn’t tire you quickly. Wolves covered hundreds of kilometers with their a bit loping run and Kris used much the same technique. With his knees springing lightly with every step Kris knew that he could go on like this for hours. ((I'm leaving for a vacation tomorrow for a week or two, so don't get freaked, if I won't reply for a bit after this. ))

Katrina just shrugged and stood there as she listened to the arrogant Slytherin say unimportant words. What he said wasn't important to her anymore. She needed a way to ask him to let her follow him into the forbidden forest. Fast. She wasn't one of the creative ones so she had a really hard time thinking of a way that didn't sound too stupid. He was nearly finished with his talk. She knew it. He blew that silvery whistle again and Katrina still hadn't thought of a way. She was going to be dead meat when he turned and left her alone. Just as she thought it, he turned around and left her standing there. "Wait!" Opps...I made the wrong move, didn't I? She ran up towards him and looked everywhere but him. "Er....I was thinking whether you could....takemeintotheforbiddenforestwithyou." As soon as she finished, she looked towards the ground and found her shoes very interesting. But what she didn't know was that she said all that in one breath, making it hard for him to hear. She just stood there and continued to look at her shoes with interest, but opened her ears to anything the boy might say.

Kris’s eyes scanned the grounds surrounding him. He wanted to be away from here – from plain sight of professors – before most of them woke. Mocking some little girlie was all nice but only so far. Kris wasn’t going to sacrifice the rest of his day because of her. That was why he moved without looking back. And the silly little girl followed him once again. Kris blinked at her, taking a moment to process her words. Did she really want HIM to take her to the Forest? A Gryffindor? Kris blinked again but that was the only sign of his surprise. Eyeing the girl coldly – even though the icy look was wasted as she didn’t look at him – Kris had a sudden temptation to tell her to grow a back-bone and not slouch or try to avoid his eyes.
“Let me get this straight. You want me to take you into the Forest after you give a long epic on how bad that is?” Kris sneered drawling each word out slowly and then clicking his tongue in mock disapprovance, “The youth of nowadays really has been corrupted. And gone idiotic.” Kris’s eyes took the girl in slowly, evaluating her more than anything else. “I’m not going into the Forest today. Hogwarts grounds are big and wide and I can get lost there without wondering in the Forest,” Kris answered with irritation, “Read something sometimes. Hogwarts: A History has info about it.” It was true. Kris had opened the book and more than once. He hadn’t read the entire book, but it had told him the entrance to the kitchens, some secret passages, the grounds. Kris had used the information useful for him in that book.
“Besides – why would you be worthy of walking with me or even breathing the same air? You are a Gryffindor, clearly below my level of knowledge of animals and nature and I’m rather sure you wouldn’t even be able to keep up with me,” Kris added with irony evident in his voice. Hearing a sudden bark Kris looked up and eyed the small silvery vixen – Kris’s companion on many of his trips – calmly. The animal was shockingly tame and listened to Kris. Maybe because Kris had fed it when she was just a pup and alone in the forest with a broken hind leg. Kris lowered his eyes back to the girl in front of him and raised an eye-brow waiting for the girl to come to her senses and run screaming for St.Mungos wing for crazy people.

((I know it has been a very very long time since I replied to this....but I hope it can continue...^^))
Katrina continued to look at her feet. She knew she had said that it wasn't right and there were loads of creatures in there, but she was also curious apart from being scared. "Yeah, I want you to take me into the forest with you. It's just that I haven't been in there before and I want to know more about it. As in experience. And I don't mind if you are a Slytherin." She looked around. It was getting brighter with every minute. "What? You're not going into the forest today? Oh." She looked back at her feet and stared at the ground. She lightened a bit when he said that he was going to wander the grounds. "You're going to explore the grounds? Cool! So can you take me with you? There are still some places here that I haven't been to." She looked around her, and smiled a bit. "And I don't mind if you're a Slytherin."
