The sun peered softly from behind a large fluffy cloud. The whether was fair, not too hot nor cold. It was a nice day actually, but for Landon, it had been a day he wished had never happened.
At breakfast, he was in such a rush to make it to class on time, and he spilled lemon soda all over his class robes. Forced to go to class wet, he had to sit through three lessons with the smell of citrus flooding his nostrils. To top it off, he had forgot to get his Charms homework from his desk, and after being granted permission to go to his room and get it, he found it ruined by a bottle of ink that was knocked over from the wind that entered through his open window.
Later, getting much worse, he got into a fight with his sister Lexie who insisted that he was spying on her as he walked past to see her and her boyfriend kissing in an abandoned corridor. He had only been searching for her to ask if there was anything she wanted to say in a letter he was writing to his uncle. Not allowing him to explain himself, Lexie shared a few choice words and then stormed off angry.
Walking by himself, Landon neared a bench that was sitting in front of an odd looking fountain. It appeared to be troll who was sleeping. The water was sprouting from its mouth and surrounded its body so that only its large stomach and its face were above water level. Not taking much interest in the unique sculpture, Landon sat down and buried his hands in his head.
He hadn't eaten since breakfast, and his stomach was gurgling loudly, but he didn't take any notice to it. Instead, he remained face down, basking in his misery. He heard someone approaching, but failed to look up, unconcerned with who it might be. Then, the person stopped, and Landon recognized the shoes as Lexie's. "Come to apologize?" he snapped, finally taking the effort to see more than just her shoes. Realizing his mistake, Landon's face turned an instant tomato color as he starred at a girl who he didn't recognize. "Oh, uh... sorry," he stammered, "thought you were someone else." The day only got worse.
