Dancing in the Glitter ((Kiana))

[Solitaire Keighley H7]

Solitaire was extremely and unusually hyper. She didn't get in this type of mood often, but when it came around it was worse on her than anyone else. Taire hated the fact that she wasn't able to sit still. It made classes hard, and homework even harder. She hadn't been able to find Dare, so that she could wear some of the energy out flirting with him, so she guessed she would have to just try to make another friend. Of course she could never let Dare go, he was after all her best friend. She was still in awe at how the two had just suddenly become friends, but she liked Dare.

Taire decided that she would take her WWW and go out into the courtyard for some fun dancing. She had discovered a charm that she could use to make glitter fall from out of the sky while she danced. She thought the idea sounded fun, and maybe someone would be willing to join her. She didn't know who but someone.

Taire grabbed her stuff and ran out of the dorm headed in the direction of the courtyard. She couldn't wait to get outside and burn off some of the energy she had bottled up inside. Taire didn't eat many sweets, and this was the reason why. She couldn't stand to be so full of energy that she felt as if she would explode. Making her way out into the courtyard, Taire found an empty spot between two beautifully blooming Cherry Blossom trees. She noticed a girl sitting on a bench near the trees but that didn't bother her. She didn't care who saw her dancing, there wasn't much anyone could do except to think that she had gone a bit crazy when they saw her dancing by herself. She made her way to the opening between the trees, cast the small spell above the opening so that glitter and confetti would fall around her, but not so far out that it would bother anyone that wasn't dancing with her. She placed the WWW at the base of the Cherry Blossoms, making sure that she placed it carefully between to upraised roots so that it wouldn't get kicked while she was dancing.

She turned on the WWW and then looked at the opening. The glitter was falling in school colors, all bright and shiny combining the colors of all four houses together. The confetti was shaped as lions, badgers, ravens, and serpents. Taire was proud of her charm, it had worked brilliantly. All that was left to do now was to lose herself in the music. That wouldn't take her long, Taire slowly began to move to the rhythm of the music, as she lost notice that anyone was watching.

[Kia Brightstar]

Kia stretched lazily, standing up from her position on her bed and jumping in the air to flip over and land on her feet. It wasn't often that she'd attempt such a gymnastic feat and it was even less often that she'd actually pull off the flip but hey, even a few months of Gymnastics seemed to pay off. Kia grinned triumphantly, silently promising herself to persuade her dad to let her resume those classes; they had been fun but her sister had gotten sick and Kia had willingly dropped the classes to look after Kae. What else were sisters for? Oh yes, this summer would definitely be fun if she could take the classes again. Might be better if she could persuade a friend to go with her but she could always get her sister to attend with her; a bonding experience, so to speak. Energy just seemed to be overflowing in her and Kia was never one to fight the sudden bursts of energy and hyperness that often swamped her. What was the fun in that?

Still, what to do with this energy? Drawing was out of the question because Kia just knew that she wouldn't be able to sit still long enough to draw even a stick figure so improving her skills was definitely impossible. Eh well, Kia shrugged and started moving outside, instinctively knowing that the outdoors held a lot of possibilities for getting rid of excess energy and always ready to try anything that came her way. The sunshine shone down on her and Kia grinned, opening her arms as if to embrace the world and twirling around with her eyes closed. Of course, twirling with her eyes closed was never a good idea when there were walls and benches around. Kia crashed into a bench and fell into a sitting position, automatically steadying herself with her hands before reclining and closing her eyes once again. Summer, sun and fun. What more could a girl ask for? Except chocolate...and jewels...and, oh it was enough for now!

Something landed on her nose and Kia twitched her nose without opening her eyes, not bothered about what it was but annoyed that something had dared to land on her. It happened once again and Kia opened her eyes in exasperation, convinced that some idiotic students had been throwing small balls of parchment or such at her. Yet, much to her surprise she saw; "Glitter!" Kia giggled and bounced up from her bench, holding her palm out to catch the glitter curiously. A bronze coloured badger landed on her palm and Kia tilted her head as music reached her ears. Music and glitter and confetti. Someone must be taking over her job as one of the weirdest students in the school and Kia moved forward, wondering who it was. Unsurprisingly, the student was a girl. Roughly a year or two older and obviously not a Slytherin; not a Gryffindor either. Not that it mattered. Kia was still going to ask if she could join. "Hey," Kia grinned, already half-dancing to the music. "Mind if I join the fun? No keeping it all to yourself, now."

Solitaire had once again lost herself in her music, and lost control of the range of the glitter. It was now going everywhere, but she didn't know. She was happy today, she was secretly in love today, and didn't have to tell anyone to enjoy it. Suddenly she heard the voice of someone. The sound she noticed wasn't coming from her music, but from a human. Taire stopped dancing long enough to turn down the music a bit and answer the girl. "No, I don't mind. It's a happy kind of day isn't it?" Taire asked without realizing the singsong sound in her voice. How was it her secret love could make her feel like this and she didn't even know if he cared about her the same ways.

Taire noticed that the glitter was starting to fly everywhere and quickly controlled it again, bringing it all around herself and now the other girl. She turned her music back up, and smiled at the other girl. "Hi, I'm Taire." She said once again in the same singsong voice. Taire couldn't help herself, she hadn't felt this happy in a very very long time and was even more pleased that she could share it with someone. She even thought there would be a chance of her befriending this girl. That was always a plus to a happy day, and a wonderful mood.

[Kia Brightstar]

"Most definitely a happy kind of day." Kia grinned, tilting her head back slightly to catch the sun on her face, her smile widening as the rays warmed her face and lightened her mood even further. She hadn't been as hyper, happy or chipper as she normally was for a few weeks and it had almost started to worry her. Her always present mischievous grin was a sort of trademark for Kia and that fact that she had had to force it to her face for the last week or so had really worried her. So it was a relief to find her usual good mood and light smile returning. It reassured her that nothing had changed. Change was only good when things changed for the better and Kia couldn't see any good coming from the absence of her normal self. How could it be good for a complete change in personality to occur? But who couldn't be happy around glitter and confetti? Especially when it was combining all four of the houses.

The glitter returned to focusing around her and Taire and Kia laughed happily, holding out her palm to catch a golden lion. Instead, a silver serpent landed on her palm and Kia glanced at it curiously, tucking it into a pocket absent-mindedly. "I'm Kia." She replied, twirling around in the glitter quickly. It was a wonderful day; she had cheered herself up - technically, Taire had cheered her up, no matter how unintentionally - and there was the possibility of finding a new friend in the older girl. Not to mention that there was glitter! If there was one thing that was guaranteed to bring a smile to Kia's face then it was glitter.
