Drew unfolded the letter from his mother once again. He couldn't help but smile at the fact that she had addressed it like a muggle would and there were even a few postage stamps on it to make sure. No matter how many times he told her that she didn't have to do that, she still did. It was quite amusing really. Drew supposed if she were to stop doing it he would feel sad and the letters just wouldn't be the same anymore, but he didn't have to worry about that right now, because it seemed that she didn't want to stop. He reread the letter and smiled joyfully. It seemed that his summer was going to be a blast. He couldn't wait for it. They would be having a nice long vacation and he would be able to see his father's favorite baseball team play, his father's favorite and now his favorite team, the New York Yankees.
Drew ran a hand through his hair and ruffled it in excitement. He folded the letter back up and stuck it in the pocket of his jeans. He leaned back against the trunk of the tree he was sitting under in the courtyard. It was a beautiful Saturday morning. The air was the perfect temperature. It still had the early morning moisture in the air, but was warm. It gave a great refreshing energy to Drew, not that he needed anymore energy. He looked around the empty courtyard as he debated on what to do next. It was hard for him to just sit still what with the future looking so promising to him. He smiled brightly as he jumped up from his sitting position. Once on his feet he stared around the courtyard in new interest. There was so much in this place to do and yet he still couldn't think of the perfect thing to do. He thought hard for a few seconds before turning around with a huge smile on his face. He looked up at the tall tree behind him.
Without a further thought Drew grabbed a branch and hoisted himself up. He breathed in deep as he used only his arms to pull himself up. Once his foot reached the branch he stood up and smiled at the difference in appearance of the courtyard. He turned back to the tree and stepped over to a higher branch and hoisting himself up quickly. There he sat down and looked down at the courtyard. Smiling in satisfaction of his ability to do this quickly he leaned back and closed his eyes in the early morning light. The dew from the leaves was slightly dampening his jeans and shirt, but he enjoyed it none the less. He just smiled and leaned against the tree.

Dresden sat high up in a tree in the courtyard. She had been sitting there all morning, watching the people around her spend their last few days together, as the summer was coming and they would all be leaving soon.
Dresden was looking forward to going home, but at the same time she would miss her friends. It had taken her until this year to make friends, but she had a few that she considered quite close, so she wasn't that bothered.
Dresden watched as a boy had walked under the tree she was in. After a few minutes he started to climb it. Dresden laughed a little at the boy, as he moved up a few branches, and then stopped. Obviously, he hadn't seen her yet.
That was understandable. She was pretty well hidden, and pretty high up.
Dresden quietly reached out to the branch in front of her and started to pick the new buds on the tree. When she had a hand full, she sat back a little and aimed at the boys head.
One by one, she started to drop the buds on his head. The first couple times she missed, but she managed to hit him with the third.
Dresden sat as quietly as she could- which was saying something- and hoped he wouldn't see her.

Drew watched passing students from the tree and smiled at his ingenious. No one would ever notice him up here and it was even better that he could potentially scare the living daylights out of passing students if he wanted to. The thought had crossed his mind, but he hadn't really done so yet. He wanted to start bothering passing people, but something was bothering him. It came out of no where. It hit his head and bounced down into his lap. He picked up the small bud. Where had it come from? He looked up and only saw leaves upon leaves. He looked back down at the bud and figured it had to have fallen off of one of the branches. With a smile he took the bud and threw it at a passing student, hitting the poor first year dead center in his face. Drew laughed silently to himself as the poor kid tried to figure out what had happened before eventually hurrying out of the courtyard in fear of a ghost or worse, Peeves.
Drew smiled in victory as the kid hurried off. He quickly ruffled his hair and leaned back against the tree again with his hands behind his head. He looked up at the branches above him, but this time he noticed something he hadn't noticed before. It looked like a leg. He sat back up quickly and tried to see from that angle, but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. He leaned back and there he could still see the leg. He smiled as he fought back a laugh. So there was someone else in the tree. He moved himself into a better sitting position and quickly climbed off his branch and on to one on the other side of the tree. From there he quickly scaled the tree. He was behind the trunk of the tree where he had seen the leg. He smiled to himself. He was going to scare them so bad. He quickly reached around the other side of the tree and grabbed for the leg, but it was suddenly gone or maybe he had miscalculated. All he knew that he was suddenly falling. The momentum had caused him to over correct himself and now he burst through the side of the tree catching a good look of the other person in the tree. He recognized the girl briefly before he continued his fall to the ground.
Drew hit hard, but soft. He looked up at the tree and the girl. He figured she was probably laughing by now. He was even smiling at his stupidity. Drew knew he was smooth for the most part, but that was definitely not smooth. He just layed under the tree looking up at it. He was afraid of moving. He knew he wasn't hurt at least not physically, while his pride and ego was severely damaged, he just didn't feel like moving until that girl decided to see if he was okay. He would stay like that all day if the girl decided not to at least ask him if he was hurt. It was Drew's way of revenge. He didn't want to do anything to her or anything, especially since she really didn't do anything to him, but he felt like it was some what her fault that he had ended up on his butt looking up at the sky. He waited in silent thought for the girl.

Dresden watched the boy below her as he wondered where the bud that had hit him came from. After looking up higher in the tree, and trying unsuccessfully to pinpoint the fall of the bud, he gave up and threw it at someone else who was on the ground. The boy below began to relax again. Dresden could see him from where she was, but he couldn't see her. She took advantage of that to watch him. After a few moments, the expression on his face had changed. He had seen her, or at least part of her. Dresden looked down at her legs and realized one of them was sticking out and could probably be clearly seen from where he was sitting.
Dresden brought herself into a squatting position into the tree to bring her legs up, and reached up to grab the next branch. She had to move quickly, or at least quicker than he could, as to now get caught by him. Who knows what he would think if he knew she was spying on him, but then again, wasn't he doing the same?
The boy stopped climbing and grabbed at air. His sudden movement had thrown off his balance, their eyes locked for a moment. After that, Dresden could hear the branches of the tree snapping as he fell to the ground, fooled by gravity.
Dresden was unsure at whether to laugh at how the boy looked when he was falling, or to worry that he might have been badly hurt. She was able to hear the sound of him hitting the ground, but as she listened harder, there was no noise coming from him.
Quickly scaling the tree, she moved down wards. She was sure she must have looked like a blur of Hogwarts colors, with the speed and ease that she was moving at. When she hit the last branch of the tree, the one closest to the bottom, she jumped the 5 feet to the ground, landing in a crouched position beside the boy, who wasn't moving. His eyes were open, and he was smiling, so she knew right away he wasn't that badly hurt, if at all. Still, it was partially her fault he was down there. After all, he did try to come and catch her. "You know," said Dresden, "most people get out of trees the old fashioned way:climbing"
