Things were going a little better for Stryder Stalk. He hadn't been cursed by anyone, he was passing his classes, and he was even starting to like a girl. The school year was almost over and Stryder couldn't figure out if he was happy to go home or not. He knew that summer meant rodeos and seeing his muggle friends but he didn't really want to see them this year. Normally Stryder didn't really have any problems with muggles. The MacMasters had taught him to love muggles because they were just like him, expect for they weren't. Sure Stryder loved talking to his friend Mike about rodeos but the taught of having to talk to someone who knew nothing about Hogwarts, Quidditch, and gave up on magic a long time ago, didn't impress Stryder one bit.
None the less it would be nice to be finished with classes. Stryder had done a lot better this year than his others. His lowest mark at the moment was in Herbology of course but he had been offered tutoring which Stryder had turned down. He was pretty sure that he wouldn't be able to handle anymore Herbology than he already had. It was a pointless study unless he wanted to be a gardener or a healer. Stryder wanted to be an auror, so he needed good grades, which was the only reason he was actually attempting to pass the class.
Finals were coming up though and Stryder wasn't too sure if he was ready for them. He knew that in DADA he was and maybe in Transfiguration, the other classes not a chance. Though there were a few weeks left until finals Stryder still had decided not to live in the Library like all the other students. He wanted to enjoy his last weeks. Plus he would just pull an all nighter with Drew. Why study when I can have fun. Stryder thought to himself as he exited the castle.
It was a nice day which made the third year Gryffindor very happy. Classes had just got out and Stryder had plans to tend to. Earlier he had talked to his friend Derrick in class and they had decided that they would meet each other after classes got out. Stryder looked forward to hanging out with Derrick because they hadn't in a while. It was hard being friends with someone in a different house, especially when the year was coming to an end. Hanging out with Derrick though would be a good reason to skip out on studying though and Stryder would do anything to skip studying.
Stryder walked over to the benches where he had agreed to meet the Hufflepuff. Derrick was an awesome guy that Stryder had a blast hanging out with. Stryder still laughed about the time they actually met. Sure Stryder knew who Derrick was because of the few classes that Gryffindor's and Hufflepuffs shared but during Stryder's second year they had actually talked for the first time.
It was a dark and murky day when Stryder and Derrick had met. Stryder was annoyed of the fact that he had to send a letter to his aunt Brooke other wise she would eat him alive when he returned home. During Stryder's second year, Brooke was worried about her nephew and checked on him constantly. Stryder wasn't in the mood to send her a letter but he had wrote one anyway. It was short but he knew that Brooke would like anything that he wrote to her. Stryder desperately looked around for his owl Slate but couldn't find him. Slate normally hung out in the Owlery so Stryder checked there. When Stryder arrived in the Owlery it was dark and he couldn't tell what was what. He had grabbed the first black owl he could saw thinking it was Slate. Well to Stryder's mistake it wasn't Slate, instead it was Derrick's owl Starburst. The owl immediately panicked in Stryder hand and flew over to it's real owner. Stryder apologized to Derrick and since that day they were friends constantly laughing about the mix up.
Stryder smiled thinking back at the moment. He was surprised to see that Derrick hadn't arrived at the meeting place yet. Normally Derrick was constantly two steps ahead of Stryder, that's just the way he was, or maybe Stryder was just always two-steps behind everyone. Either way Derrick wasn't there so Stryder sat down and waited for the Hufflepuff to arrive.

Resting his head on his books Derrick glared at the clock as though him doing so would make time go by a little faster. He hated muggle studies. He loved the teacher but the class was so boring because he learned all this in history in like fourth grade and he was now being forced to learn it again. Turning away his glare away from the clock he looked helplessly out the window. He hated the last class of the day because he usually wasn't paying attention and it didn't help that this was the most boring subject in the universe.
He loved going outside, and that was why he liked care of magical creatures so much was because you were outside the whole time and because he was outside all the time during this class he didn't become bored to quickly because if you got tired of lessoning to the teacher drone on and on you could just occupy yourself with something else but when you are stuck in a stuffy and slightly on the smelly side class room all you could do was sit there and act like you are listing to what they were saying.
Turning his attention back to the clock he realized it was now time to go. Packing his stuff back up he waved at his friend Melissa and walked out. "Yes!" He said when he was out of the class room "No more classes for today." Derrick was actually doing pretty well in all his classes except for History of magic. This was one of the hardest in Derrick's opinion to pass and the reason for that was because this class was very difficult to stay awake in, it was just the way the teacher droned on and on and never changes his voice. It was almost like lessoning to a robot.
Shaking his head slightly he looked behind him to see a few girls arguing amongst each other. Raising an eye-brow slightly he couldn't help but chuckle. Girls could be so anal and even catty at times and he thought it was funny. Not watching were he was going before he new it he had hit someone and had been knocked off balance. Hitting the ground with a small plop Derrick looked up to see who he hit. On the ground across from him was his friend and neighbor Melissa Gunner. Standing up and offering a hand to help her up he said apologetically "Sorry 'bout that I wasn't watching were I was going" He watched as she laughed and then said to him in a joking voice " Wow, you really are trying to kill me now aren’t you!" raising a eye-brow once again ever so slightly he said jokingly back " Aww, now why would I want to hurt you I mean you can be a little annoying at times but not that bad." Sticking out her tongue at him she said "Well that is just part of my charm now isn't it? Hey but I have to go I promised I would meet some friends in Hogsmade ok?"
Looking confusedly at her Derrick replied "I didn't now there was a Hogsmade trip this weekend!" He watched her smirk then say "There isn't." And with that she walked away. Shaking his head slightly he turned and walked to the way that lead to the grounds. She was always getting into trouble and yet she didn't seem to care that her mother had finally threatened to send her to a muggle boarding school if she didn't shape up. Looking at the clock in the hall he remembered he had a meeting with Stryder in the courtyard. "Shoot he said out loud more to himself then to anyone else. Turning on his running skills he sprinted the building weaving threw people until he reached the courtyard. Slowing down to a jog he saw Stryder with his back towards him. Slowing to a walk he said as he approached "Sorry I was late I bumped into a friend on the way here.

Stryder didn't have to wait long to here his friends voice speaking to him. Stryder looked at Derrick, he had survived Muggle Studies. Stryder didn't mind that class all that much. Stryder had learned things about muggles from his foster parents but didn't really care for it that much. To Stryder, Muggle Studies was pointless. Sure Stryder didn't know that much about Muggle history or other weird muggle stuff, but he didn't need to. What was the point if he wanted to be an auror? Stryder asked that same question concerning Herbology.
"How was Muggle Studies? I see you survived, well barely."
Stryder said jokingly as he layed down on the bench to look up at Derrick. Derrick was a cool guy. Stryder wanted him to meet Drew though. He knew that if they became friends that Stryder, Derrick, and Drew would be the coolest guys in all the school. Then Stryder realized something. He sat up and looked at Derrick.
"Do you play an instrument by any chance?"

Drew threw his bag of books on his bed and plopped down next to it. This whole carrying books around thing was starting to get annoying. He really needed to perfect that one charm to lighten stuff so he wouldn't have to carry the heavy bag around. He smiled at the thought. To perfect that charm would mean he would have to study and studying was not on his mind right at the moment. He ran a hand through his hair. He really needed to take a break from things. The library was beginning to become his second home and that was definitely not where he wanted to be...ever. He preferred the wild and crazy side of life as opposed to the nonesistent excitement of the library. He smiled. That's why he was never even considered for Ravenclaw. Right off the bat the hat had placed him in Gryffindor. It's where he wanted because he knew he would be happy there. In Ravenclaw he would probably get in trouble by book loving freaks. He laughed again out loud. He was being unfair to the Ravenclaws and he knew it. He had met several and they hadn't turned out so bad. They were just concerned with passing and intelligence. Drew felt there was more important things to life than books. He preferred adventure and plenty of it.
The thought made him spring from the bed. Speaking of adventure he really needed to do something fun. He wondered where he could find Stryder. It had been a while since the two of them had had an adventure. He threw off his robes and pulled on some more comfortable clothing. Grabbing his wand he stuffed it into it's normal pocket in his jeans and then he took off down the stairs and past the Gryffindor common room into the corridor. He wandered around down the halls trying to find his friend. He peeked in doors and ducked quickly when he realized that people were inside. He even stopped by the student lounge and made a great git out of himself when he shouted out "Stryder" at the told of his lungs. It had caused a few people to send a few spells they were practicing his way. He just laughed and shut the door quickly. "Guess he's not in there," Drew said to himself with another laugh. He took off down the corridor quickly to avoid anymore unwanted spells, not undeserved spells, just unwanted spells.
Drew continued roaming the corridors finding no trace of his bud. It wasn't until he passed the courtyard twice that he realized Stryder was there. He laughed at his own stupidity before he turned into the courtyard. Stryder was in conversation with another boy that looked about their age. Drew recognized him slightly, but couldn't place a name or house with his face. He smiled though as a thought came to mind. He watched as Stryder sat back up and then it happened. Drew took off at full speed and totally tackled Stryder. He laughed hard as he looked up from the ground and then back down at his friend. "How you doin' buddy? I just couldn't resist!" he laughed as he got up quickly and then proceeded to pull his friend up. He turned to the other guy. "Drew Thornton, actually Andrew, but don't call me that, no one does. Anyway, sorry about that," Drew said with a smile as he held out his hand for Derrick to shake.

((You title it for boys and leave it open - did you realyl think I wouldn't take up the challenge? )) Kris still didn’t know why he was running right now. It was bad for your knees, bad for your joints and it increased the change of you having a sudden heart-attack. Not that Kris was in much danger of the last as he as pretty much in perfect health and just as good shape. Well, he had to be if he even dreamed of staying on top of dealing with all of his 38 dogs, 10 horses and whatever other animals that were residing in his home. But that didn’t really explain why he was currently running around the Hogwarts lake with a friend who had apparently just been bored. Stumbling over a tree-root he didn’t see Kris lost his balance where martial arts training Kris had done for years kicked in. His arms instinctively reached out as Kris did a cartwheel, even if it was a bit painful with the angles of the silvery-thestral’s head adorning the top of his walking cane pushing harshly into his palm while Morrigan clung to Kris’s shoulder with all her 20 claws. Ending up in a low crouch Kris let out a long breath and stood and stretched slowly before gently swatting at Morrigan to make the kitten pull her claws out of his shoulder. “I’m sweaty, I have had 20 claws in my shoulder, my clothes aren’t really made for practices and I was close to breaking some bone once again. Why on earth am I being dragged around the Hogwarts lake after being raced here from Hogsmeade?” Kris asked as he stood and walked forward calmly now as he waited for his breathing to settle as he had slowed his pace this quickly. Besides Kris had been telling the truth. He was wearing a pair of nicely worn-in black jeans that fit precisely around his feet and a black dress-blouse while his hair was bulled back with a wide black ribbon. He had been playing with his two dogs housed in Hogsmeade during the school-year when Gaenor had located and dragged him away after all. Kris heard footsteps which showed that Gaenor had turned back and slowed to a walk by his side once again as the two continued walking towards the school-castle quietly as both were catching their breaths. Besides neither was in no hurry. “I needed to talk. Get some advice. But at the same time I’m not so sure I want to talk,” the reply from Gaenor finally came and Kris nodded, knowing fully well the feeling Gaenor was described. But Kris also knew that you didn’t push Slytherins so he would just be a good friend and wait patiently for Gaenor to reach his own decision whether or not he wanted to tell anything to Kris. As they neared the castle the voices of other students grew louder as well so Kris arched his eye-brow towards Gaenor with a tilt of his head. Kris sincerely doubted Gaenor would want to tell whatever was eating him away before an audience. “Let’s get some coffee from the kitchen for you. And green tea for me,” Gaenor replied to the wordless question as the two walked wordless on the most direct path to the castle-doors with other people stepping out of their way.

Gaenor grinned as he looked at Kris. He had whined more than once about the bad things about running, yet he had caught his breath within a minute and didn’t even look tired. Then again he had ran with a curious pace as well – it was speedier than it looked. With Kris’s knees having been bent slightly Gaenor had been reminded of a wolf and it did seem as if Kris could have gone on for ages with his running. Besides Gaenor’s pants weren’t meant for running any more than Kris’s was. Most likely the outfits both were either meant to be washed after being worn this once or were destined to be thrown away. Really now, who besides Slytherins went running in dark-grey suit-pants and a white shirt? Yet Kris had came with him without arguing too much for which Gaenor was grateful. He considered Kris to be one of his best friends as well as Dana, even though he would most certainly now need to learn to know Kris’s new wife as well. Luckily Cleo seemed quite worth the time.
“You could have used the work-out. You are starting to get old, mr. Graas. Married to a fireball and all that,” Gaenor drawled back with a nod to the quite recent wedding-band around Kris’s finger before tickling the correct pear and pulling the door open and stepped in. The order came quickly – Kris demanded cappuccino, Gaenor ordered tea with lemon. The orders were fulfilled just as quickly and before a minute had passed the two stepped out of the kitchen once again and Gaenor directed them towards the courtyard. The weather was nice enough and the courtyard should be peaceful enough. The courtyard didn’t seem to be overly popular among the majority of the student body. Most students preferred the grounds and the few who might be there Gaenor and Kris together should be able to scare off easily enough. Kris seemed to sense Gaenor’s mood and intention so the two walked through the hallways talking quietly about Kris’s wedding, summer, horses and random things really while keeping the white porcelain cups that seemed almost too fragile in their hands steady. Both Kris and Gaenor were both used to physical work as well, even if they did it only when they chose to spend time like that.
Gaenor stopped after stepping out of the school again his eyes scanning the courtyard. He had been right, it was practically empty. Except for 3 much younger boys who were rolling around on the ground as Gaenor observed them. One of them was a third year GRyffidnor – he had bothered Gaenor the other day – so Gaenor doubted that the other two would be any older. “What do you know. Some ickle cubs for us,” Gaenor drawled out loud enough for his voice to carry over as he sauntered slowly down the stars, knowing more than sensing that Kris was following calmly behind him. “Good, I was hungry anyway. Haven’t eaten since four,” Kris replied and Gaenor glanced over curiously: “Four in the morning?” Kris merely arched his eye-brow and Gaenor shook his head with a grimace, knowing that the 6th year always woke at that god-forsaken night-hour. Something Gaenor most certainly didn’t want to do out of his free will. “Never mind. Don’t answer. But don’t you three have anything better to do than to spoil the good air?” Gaenor asked the boys with a sneer as he returned his attention to the three. Gaenor had given a straight hint that if the boys fled now they would get away unscratched. Now it was only the question whether or not the boys would understand it. Gaenor raised his cup of tea to his lips and took a sip while waiting for the response.

"How was Muggle Studies? I see you survived, well barely." Stryder said to him jokingly. "Hey I think I only zoned out for three fourths of the class this time!" Derrick replied in a fake defensive tone. Sitting down on the grass next to Stryder Derrick let out a little sigh. "Well I might have survived Muggle studies but I almost killed my next door neighbor Mel because I wasn't watching where I was going." Looking at a big weeping willow that was across from him he noticed it had a carving in it but didn't think too much of it because a lot of the tree's in the courtyard if you looked hard enough had something carved in them somewhere.
He was staring up into space slightly and was pulled back to reality when Stryder asked if he played an instrument. "Well I play the drums, why? Do you play an instrument by any chance?" Derrick liked to play the drums when ever he had free time or when he was upset. It was quite like what running did to him by calming him down and putting him in a much better mood. He played a lot during the summer and was even in a band once but then there singer quite and school started back up so they decided just to end it.
Smiling slightly at these memories he looked up at Stryder and said "I once played for a band and we were pretty good but then our singer quite because he didn't like the sings and he was a stuck up snob but anyway if you play an interment I bet we could get a couple other people and start a band!" Derrick would enjoy being in another band again plus if they were good enough they maybe could get recognized a little easier here. Smiling at this thought he looked at Stryder waiting for a reply.
Since he was looking at Stryder he didn't see the boy that had snuck up behind them so he didn't warn Stryder when the boy came running at him. Watching amusedly as this boy tackled Stryder he laughed. He could tell that these boys were friends and that they hung out a lot. Grabbing the boy's hand he said smiling "I'm Derrick, so I take it that you guys have met before right?" Turning around slightly as he heard something he saw a rabbit hoping around and raised an eyebrow. Why wasn't the rabbit scared of them? Rabbits are usually too scared to even come out when there are people but this one didn't seem to mind at all.
Turning around slightly at the mention of his name you heard a different voice that he did not recognize. Turning curiously towards it he saw two much older Slytherin's and raised an eye-brow. What did they want? Turning towards the two other boys he said "looks like we have some company". Turning back to the older boys he said in an annoyed tone "What do you want?" Looking at Stryder and Drew he turned back to the boys and waited for an answer. (Sorry 'bout shortness)

The second that Derrick had said that he played the drums, Stryder was thrilled. That meant that Drew and Stryder's band could be one step closer to being complete. All they needed now was a name and a bass player and maybe some other instruments. Stryder listened to Derrick's story about his lead singer. Stryder knew the feeling. He had been in a small band and the lead singer thought the band was all about him. Stryder was glad that Drew wasn't like that. Sure Drew was cocky but not about music. When Stryder would play his guitar and Drew would sing they didn't compete, they worked together to make wonderful music. Stryder was happy that their dream was coming even closer to being true.
"Well my friend Drew and I are starting a band. You should join, it would be a bl-"
Stryder was looking at Derrick and two seconds later he was on the floor thanks to a scruffy browned haired boy. Stryder didn't see it coming at all. He looked over at Drew and laughed. Drew was a great friend and was glad that they now could all talk about the band together. Stryder fixed his hair as Drew pulled him up and then introduced himself to Derrick.
"Ya this is Drew my best bud." Stryder said as he grabbed Drew head, put him in a headlock and gave him a nuggie, making his hair even messier than it was already. Stryder laughed as he let Drew go. Stryder was happy that his friend had found Stryder. It was perfect, now Derrick and Drew could meet and maybe, if Derrick agreed to join the band, they could even decide on the band name right there.
Stryder stood looking around for inspiration for a band name as the two boys talked. There wasn't that many things to give a great band name. There was a tree. Tree slamers, wouldn't work out so well. Stryder looked around some more for anything to give him inspiration. There were bushes, benches, flowers, grass, a flat soccer ball, a lonely wizard card, and some people. The courtyard was always boring. Stryder hated it.
He finally realized that there was no possible band name in his surroundings so he turned his attention back to Derrick and Drew. Stryder wondered why Derrick had an odd look on his face. Stryder followed his gaze to find someone he didn't want to see ever again. It was Gaenor.
"Don’t you three have anything better to do than to spoil the good air?”
Stryder glared at the older Slytherin. Stryder had met him a couple weeks ago in the Student Lounge. It wasn't a pleasent meeting either. Stryder had tried his best to get on the boys' good side, well at least not the bad side, but it didn't work. Stryder had buried his own grave and was happy to know that the Slytherin would graduate this year and never bug Stryder again. The biggest reason that Stryder dispised the Slytherin was because he knew about Stryder's heritage. He knew all about the 'Stalks' and was convinced that Stryder was a pureblood traitor, which he was. Now more than anything Stryder was glad that Drew was with him, as well as Derrick. Stryder wouldn't let the two other boys fight his battle for him but it gave Stryder even more strenght than he would if he was alone.
Stryder looked at the Slytherin. Stryder had to keep himself from laughing at the sight of Gaenor in suit pants, while holding a porcelain cup. It definitly wasn't the typical outfit that Stryder would think Gaenor would wear. Stryder listened as Derrick said the first words. Stryder never told anyone about his meeting with Gaenor, well he had told Drew that he had almost started a fight with a hot-headed seventh year Slytherin, but never explained why. Stryder hadn't told Drew his family history yet. All Drew knew was that Stryder lived on a ranch with his aunt and uncle. Whenever Drew would start talking about families Stryder would avoid revealing anything about his own. Drew wasn't a pureblood and didn't know about the Stalks and that's how Stryder wanted to keep it.
"Go bug someone else Gaenor." Stryder said looking at the boy waiting for him to give Stryder one of his sly comebacks. Stryder didn't want to pick a fight, he wasn't going to loose house points, but he wasn't going to let Gryffindor's dignity fall down to a hot-headed Slytherin either. Whatever was about to happen Stryder knew that Drew and Derrick would be right there with him. Stryder still slid his hand in his pocket, gripping his wand, just in case.

Kris sipped his coffee calmly as he waited for things to unroll. Gaenor was as good as ever at wanting what he wanted, even if he was usually one of the calmest Slytherins and therefore not one who was treaded most. Yet Kris was rather sure that they could handle the boys on their own. Gaenor had said ickle cubs so Kris guessed someone no older than 4th year tops. Yet the guys seemed to enjoy the feeling of a pack because they actually had the gall to talk back to Gaenor. Ah, the arrogance. And one of the boys even knew Gaenor’s first name Kris arched an eye-brow and stepped next to Gaenor ignoring the small annoyance in the back of his mind that he had been discarded this easily. While he was blind, that didn’t mean Kris’s hexes were any simpler or less meaner. “A new car, a shower, maybe a smoothie and a calm hour spent here. Meaning you three might as well pull your tails between your legs and get lost,” Kris said with a sneer his head slightly tilted as he tried to listen to any threat if one of the boys would decide to do something foolish.
Kris turned slightly towards Gaenor, leaving his side towards the boys. It was harder to attack someone’s side and Kris was as paranoid as ever. With all the right to be considering the latest events that had taken place. “Bug someone, Gaenor? Why, I didn’t know you were an insect,” Kris asked with feigned innocence and ignorance, “Should I take on the role of a well brought up-lady now too to fit the scene?” Kris took a sip of his coffee before throwing the still mostly full mug in the air aiming it slightly towards the boys while placing one of his hands over his heart: “Oh my, a bug. I’m so scared.” It was a waste of perfectly good drink yet it just might be worth it if one of the younger boys got burns from the still steaming liquid. And Kris got his hands free now. “Oh my, did it hit you? I didn’t really mean to… then again I’m kind of glad if it did hit you.”
“Now Kris, if you put on a skirt, shaved and used some potions I just might ask you out on a date myself. At least it would be an interesting experience,” Gaenor commented quietly making Kris smirk as he flicked his tied-up hair in a mocking gesture: “Sorry, Gaenor, I already have a jealous spouse.” Kris knew that Gaenor would carry on this conversations yet but for now they waited for the younger boys to react. It would be easier on everyone if they just turned and fled.

Drew smiled and shook Derrick's hand. It was good to meet someone that Stryder had talked about on ocassion. A friend of Stryder's was a friend of his. "Yeah, Stryder here can't stay away from me. I guess I'm just too cool for him to leave me alone," Drew said with a laugh as he pushed his friend sideways, like normal. Drew loved messing with Stryder, especially since the two of them got along so well. Stryder was the first one that Drew had really talked to at Hogwarts. It gave him a sense of familiarization with the place. Anytime he thought of Stryder he thought of the first day at Hogwarts and vice verse. Stryder was his best bud and it was even cooler that the year was dwindling down so that they could hang out more often than they had during the school year.
Drew could have gone on and on about the topic in his head for days, but it was interrupted by the voice of someone he didn't recognize. He turned his attention quickly to the two boys that had just entered. They were obviously older than him and what was worse they were both in Slytherin. Drew raised his eyebrows in amusement at the two. Drew didn't much care for getting into arguments especially with people he didn't feel deserved his attention. Drew was taken slightly off guard when Stryder said the name of one of the Slytherins. He looked at his best bud before recognition dawned on his face. This Slytherin must be the one that Stryder had briefly told him about. He looked the guy over and surpressed a laugh. Maybe it was Drew's muggle side coming out, but he just didn't see anything threatening about the two of them. So he couldn't help himself with letting his voice be heard. However, just before he began to speak the other Slytherin threw his steaming cup of whatever in the air and it took a great motion for Drew to dodge it enough to not get any hot liquid on him.
"You know that wasn't the most polite thing to do," he said before he could really stop himself. He knew that any Slytherin would just assume he was stupid for saying something like that, but Drew was on a roll now and he wasn't going to stop. "Just because you're a pure-blood doesn't mean that you're better than everyone else you know? I'm just as good as you are. Sure I might be younger than you, but that doesn't mean I'm on a different playing field. Besides as far as I'm concerned pure-blood doesn't mean anything to anyone. It doesn't make you better at magic and it doesn't make you a better person, because obviously by looking at you two it only makes you a rude, stuck up, rich jerk. But no matter what, pure-blood or muggle born, at the end of the day...I'm not you...so it's still a good day," Drew said as he stood tall and looked at the two older Slytherins. He didn't care what they did to him, because he was being honest. If he was persecuted by them he didn't care. Nothing could stop him from being who he was and he enjoyed being a muggle born wizard.
