Genevieve walked out of Hogwarts with her bookbag and an arrangement of quills and parchment. It was close to sunset and the weather was terrific. It was warm so Genevieve was just wearing her uniform. She was headed towards the courtyard, one of her favorite places at Hogwarts. She loved the environment and not that many students gathered around the part of the Courtyard she went to. She would go to the gardens, sit down on the many benches laid out, and would engulf herself in a good book.
Today though Genevieve wanted to break her tradition. She sat down on the same bench she sat at everytime she went, but instead of pulling out The Giver the extra-credit assignment for Muggle Studies, she sat her bag next to her and looked around.
It was a beautiful day and although few people came to the Courtyard she was surprised that there were so few people there. Next to her was a bush with a small ball sitting next to it. Genevieve reached over and grabbed the small ball and placed it in her hands. It was a blue and purple swirled ball. Genevieve bounced it on the ground and watched it bounce back up to her.
She amused herself for a while until the ball continued to bounce over to a patch of flowers. Genevieve looked at all the flowers. They were beautiful. She sat down on the ground next to them and watched as a ladybug crawled over one of the daisies petals.

Dresden looked over the essay she had just finished. "Well, it's all there. 14 inches of rambling on about the pros and cons of keeping magic a secret from muggles." Stuffing it into her bag, she picked up her Muggle Studies text book and tossed it in. Putting the stopper in her bottle of ink, she carefully placed it, along with her quill, inside her bag.
Dresden's essay had been due a week ago, but that was just how she did things. She procrastinated until she no longer could, insisting she worked best under pressure. She called it her 'plan of action'. Everyone else called it 'being lazy'.
Dresden stood up from her place under the weeping willow and stretched, deciding to stretch her legs before she went up into her common room.
She began to take the long way around the school, the way that would take her up through the courtyard. She looked at the sky as she walked. It was a beautiful mix of oranges and pinks. As she looked, she thought of an old muggle saying about the weather.Pink sky at night, sailors delight. Pink sky in the morning, sailors take warning. It was in reference to a storm. They said if was pink at night, the next day would be nice, but if it was pink in the morning, a storm was coming in.
Dresden wove her way through the courtyard, into the gardens. Dresden could see a girl in the distance, bouncing what looked like a ball. The ball eventually got away from the girl, and she turned her attention to the flowers around her.
Dresden walked over to the spot where the ball had rolled and picked it up. She continued to walk over to the girl, bouncing it as she went.
When she reached the girl, she sat down beside her on the ground. "Hi, I believe this is yours?" Dresden stuck out her hand with the ball in it, smiling.
[[I'm assuming this is open to anyone because there was no name in the title...]]

Genevieve loved looking at flowers. Perhaps it was because Herbology was one of her best and favorite subjects or just the fact that she grew up with a large garden with tons of flowers. Back at home Genevieve would spend her summer days sitting by the flowers and taking pictures of them. Now that she was in Hogwarts she couldn't take any pictures and she couldn't draw worth anything. Something about the flowers though made her happy. They made her feel like she was back at home.
She actually hadn't realized that she was in the middle of the Courtyard sitting down looking like a fool, until a girl sat right next to her.
"Hi, I believe this is yours?"
The girl was Dresden a fellow third year Ravenclaw. Genevieve had heard about the girl through friends but hadn't really talked to her. She always seemed way to spunky for Genevieve and intimidated her.
"Hi Dresden. Well actually I just found it somewhere. You can have it if you want."
Genevieve looked at the ball. Such a small little muggle toy. Maybe she would keep it, or just buy one. Genevieve wasn't ready to try all the new wizarding things. She liked being a muggle. The thought of flying scared her more than anything. When she did have flying classes she would go up about four feet and panick immediatly. For the longest time she though that she was afraid of heights but that wasn't the case. She didn't like all the wizarding stuff, it scared her. Genevieve had no clue how she had become a witch herself, she liked the magic but would much rather be home in a normal school.

Stryder Stalk normally would never be seen out in the Gardens, he wasn't that romantic. Though he used to hang out in the gardens his first year because a lot of girls were there. Stryder's love interest wasn't that desperate though. He didn't mind being single plus the only relationship he had been in was stupid and pointless, he didn't want another one of those. The gardens though reminded Stryder of Catrina. They would go here all the time.
Stryder wasn't sure what dragged him into going into the gardens. Most likely his boredom though. He walked around passing different girls and a boy everynow and then being dragged by a girl. Stryder laughed at them, at least he wasn't being dragged in.
The gardens were pretty. If Stryder wanted he could probably draw some of the things he saw but he knew that if his room mates found out he would be laughed at more than anything. The excuse of it being an Herbology assignment wouldn't even work because anyone that was in Herbology with Stryder knew that he hated that class.
Stryder continued to walk without a cause, he was almost out of the girly gardens when he saw someone he knew sitting on the ground. It was Dresden. Stryder always ran into her somewhere now it seemed like. Ever since he got knocked out it was like she was there, just in case it happend again. Stryder smiled and walked over to Dresden and some other girl.
"Dresden, just because I get knocked out once doesn't mean that you have to follow me around in case I black out again."
Stryder said jokingly as he sat down next to Dresden. He looked at the other girl. He had seen her before in his classes. He couldn't say which class but he knew that he had seen her before.
"Are you guys doing some lame Herbology extra credit assignment or something?"

Dresden was rather surprised when the girl answered her using her name. She had seen the girl around, and they were in the same year, but she had never talked to her before. It didn't bother her, but it made her wonder a bit what the other students were saying about her if this girl knew her name.
Dresden sat down beside the girl and handed her the ball. "That's all right, you can have it." Dresden handed the girl the ball. "I'm sorry, but I feel silly not knowing your name when you know mine. Perhaps I'll call you Cornwall." Dresden grinned as she tried to be friendly. She didn't think this girl would mind her weird sense of humour.
Taking a couple unused quills from her bag, Dresden twisted up the top half of her dreads to get them out of her face. She stuck the quills in one at a time to keep them in the bun she had made.
Dresden looked up as she heard a voice she recognized. She smiled at Stryder, recalling the first time they had met."Didn't you hear? I've been assigned as your personal body guard. I'm inclined to follow you everywhere you go. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to tell you to sleep with some pants on, and those dance moves in front of the mirror when you think no one is looking? Those have GOT to stop."
Stryder sat down beside her."Extra credit? Nah, not me. Mines for Care of Magical Creatures. I'm training the bumblebees and butterfly's to take the pollen from the flowers." Dresden pointed to a butterfly that had come near them, inspiring her joke."See? Look how well I've trained them."

Genevieve didn't know Dresden that well, she just knew her name. Genevieve actually knew a lot of names, it was one of her talents. She could meet someone and remember their names for the longest time afterwards. Even if she didn't know the person but figured out their name she couldn't never forget it. Her 'talent' scared people but Genevieve knew that she had a good memory, one of the keys to a Ravenclaw.
Genevieve knew Dresden from her classes and overhearing the girl talk in the Common Room. From what Genevieve saw and heard she was a spunky girl. Genevieve always wanted to actually talk to her one day, especially about her hair.
"That's all right, you can have it."
Genevieve took the ball from Dresden and smiled. She would keep it as long as she good. Maybe even give it to Gypsy, her cat. Either way the ball was one of the only muggle toys left. Everything else she had to get rid of.
"I'm sorry, but I feel silly not knowing your name when you know mine. Perhaps I'll call you Cornwall."
Genevieve laughed at the idea. She was a shy girl and hadn't hear of anyone calling her anything besides Gen or plain old Genevieve. She wasn't surprised that Dresden didn't know her, not that many people did. Genevieve liked keeping to herself and her studies. She wasn't even sure if her roomates knew her name for she had never talked to any of them.
"Well Cornwall is my middle name. I'm Genevieve Cornwall Edwards."
Genevieve laughed hoping that Dresden would understand her sarcasm. She finished laughing and watched as Dresden messed with her hair. Genevieve loved Dresden hair, well sort of. She loved that it was different from everyone elses but Genevieve would never do it to hers. She loved her hair. She had recently decided to dye it from red to blond and the change was unbelievable.
Genevieve was about to ask how long it took for Dresden's hair to get like that when a boy came over. Genevieve knew this boy as well. His name was Stryder and he was in her Herbology class. Genevieve was surprised to see a boy in the gardens, not many of them would be seen there. He's probably with his girlfriend. She thought to herself until he came over and started talking to Dresden.
"Dresden, just because I get knocked out once doesn't mean that you have to follow me around in case I black out again."
."Didn't you hear? I've been assigned as your personal body guard. I'm inclined to follow you everywhere you go. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to tell you to sleep with some pants on, and those dance moves in front of the mirror when you think no one is looking? Those have GOT to stop."
Genevieve thought that this was extremely funny. She laughed extremely hard and was quite embarrassed when she realized how hard she actually was laughing. She blushed and wondered what they were talking about. Genevieve hadn't been the gossip queen at Hogwarts and didn't know what happend that much. She especially didn't know what would be going on in a boys life, she didn't talk to many boys except her professors. Therefore Genevieve was intimidated when Stryder sat down with her and Dresden.
"Are you guys doing some lame Herbology extra credit assignment or something?"
."Extra credit? Nah, not me. Mines for Care of Magical Creatures. I'm training the bumblebees and butterfly's to take the pollen from the flowers."
Genevieve watched as Dresden pointed to a nearby blue butterfly who was taken pollen from the flowers they were sitting next to. Genevieve always loved butterflies, they were so beautiful.
"See? Look how well I've trained them."
"Wow I'm impressed."
Genevieve smiled and watched as the butterfly flew away from the flower and surprisingly landed on Stryder's head.
"Did you train it to attack boys as well?"

Stryder looked around him, he wouldn't stay here long that was for sure. It was filled with girly things. There were flowers around them, trees and bushes, and more flowers. Stryder didn't like it too much. At least he was with girls now, if he had been spotted without a girl here he didn't know what he would say. The only boys that did go here without girls were ones obsessed with Herbology or really wanted a girlfriend.
."Didn't you hear? I've been assigned as your personal body guard. I'm inclined to follow you everywhere you go. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to tell you to sleep with some pants on, and those dance moves in front of the mirror when you think no one is looking? Those have GOT to stop."
"Man I knew that someone was watching me while I was sleeping. And the boys thought I was crazy. Excuse me, I'm pretty sure that my dance moves are the best you've ever seen you're just jealous."
Stryder laughed but he couldn't hear himself laugh. His laugh was suppressed by the laughs of the blonde girl. Stryder looked at her, sure it was funny but he didn't think it was that funny. Stryder smiled and raised his eyebrows in a confused manner. She must have realized that her laugh was obnoxious because she suddenly stopped and blushed. Stryder was relieved that Dresden had continued to talk. She always knew how to break awkward moments, maybe it was a good thing to keep her around.
."Extra credit? Nah, not me. Mines for Care of Magical Creatures. I'm training the bumblebees and butterfly's to take the pollen from the flowers. See? Look how well I've trained them."
Stryder wasn't surprised that Dresden wasn't doing extra-credit. She didn't seem like the type that would bother to do it. Then again she was in Ravenclaw. Stryder didn't see how she was, he thought she fit Gryffindor a lot better.
"Wow I'm impressed."
Stryder turned to see what the girl was talking about when out of no where a purple butterfly landed on Stryder's head. He raised his eyebrows and tried to see the butterfly on his head. Stryder had always thought that butterflies were like unicorns, they preferred girls to boys, his assumption was obviously wrong.
"Did you train it to attack boys as well?"
"Ya Dresden, I thought you were supposed to be my bodyguard, not attacker."
Stryder smiled and tried not to move his head. He wanted to see how long the butterfly would stay on his head, as long as it didn't pee or anything he would be fine with it.

Hay Lin loved to wander around the grounds, and after dinner that’s what she did. As usual, she began to daydream. What will her first grades look like? As she began to evaluate herself on this, she noticed she had wandered over to a gaggle of people, most of which looked about her age. They seemed deep in conversation with each other. Shying away like she normally did, she tried to be casual. But the fact that she couldn’t get her head to go up, or her shoulders down, didn’t help. Hay Lin thought she heard a boy from the gaggle call her back, but she couldn’t be sure. Maybe it was just what she wanted: a boy to call her back, she halts and the boy comes to her, gives her a kiss and… “No. That’s what I want. No one cares about me, a skinny, half Asian girl. No one called me.” She convinced herself. It may have been true, but Hay Lin didn’t want to get her hopes up. She’d had enough of that in her elementary schools, al ending in tears. By now Hay Lin was over by the lake, and she sat down by the edge. Sighing, she pulled up her knees and lay her head on them. Maybe she heard footsteps, but by the time they registered in her mind, she had nodded off into a shallow sleep. Boys, boys… Hay Lin dreamt.

Dresden laughed at Genevieve. She liked her already and could feel the beginning of a long, humourous friendship."Awesome, Cornwall it is then!"
Dresden liked talking to both Stryder and Genevieve, even though she had just met the latter. They both seemed to be able to sense Dresden's sense of humour, and even threw it back at her. She giggled at the way she made Genevieve laugh, or as she called her now, Cornwall.
"Man I knew that someone was watching me while I was sleeping. And the boys thought I was crazy. Excuse me, I'm pretty sure that my dance moves are the best you've ever seen you're just jealous," said Stryder. Dresden made a face at his remark. "The best I've ever seen? I've seen a new born llama dance better than you."
Dresden watched the butterfly as it flew and landed on Stryders head. "Of course I trained it to attack boys. Why would you be an exception?" Dresden smiled sweetly at Stryder, twirling one of her dreads between her fingers.

Genevieve watched as the buttefly stayed on Stryder's head. She was really surprised, normally they wouldn't stay on that long. Genevieve looked over Stryder. He was handsome for his age, it seemed like all the other boys in her grade were ugly and horrible. The only thing about Stryder was that he intimidated Genevieve. He was so outgoing and popular that there was no possible way that she would be able to like him because she knew she didn't add up to his qualities. Genevieve hadn't really started liking boys until this year. She's never had a crush but she knew that one could be in the making easier. It seemed like everyone was dating, especially around 'ball' times. Genevieve didn't even bother showing up for the balls. All she would end up doing is standing and watching everyone have fun. She could instead occupy herself with homework.
"So Stryder lets see these dance moves of yours."

“Hi. Are you Hay Lin?” The voice startled her. She had been looking out over the lake when somebody had come to her. “Um, yeah, I am.” Hay stood up to get a better look at the boy. He was a bit taller than her, but looked about her age. They began walking around the lake together. “I like-I mean, I think we like the same subjects. I’ve noticed you pay attention more in Defense Against the Dark arts…” The boy stopped, and Hay Lin did too. They looked at each other, smiling, and leaned in… “Aah!” Hay’s eyes snapped open and she sat up straight. Standing up, she brushed off the grass from her clothes. She had fallen asleep by the lake and had been- “Dreaming. I was dreaming. No boy would ever even notice me, that was just a dream.” Hay Lin told herself. Grabbing her pink bag, she started towards the castle. She decided to take a tour by where the group of people had been earlier. She didn’t know why, but she wanted to see if they were there. As she got nearer, she saw that they were still there. She hoped they didn’t notice her when she dove behind a nearby bush and pulled out a book.

Stryder smiled when Genevieve asked to see his dance moves. He actually didn't really know how to dance, anyone who attended the balls knew that. He knew though that he could make up some weird ones. Stryder rolled his eyes at the girls.
"Normally you would have to buy a ticket but since you guys are my friends I'll put you on the VIP list."
Stryder winked as he stood up. The butterfly, reacting to Stryder's movement, started flying away. Stryder smiled, his inspiration had arrived.
"I call this one the butterfly." With that Stryder bent down and touched the ground. He counted to five in his head and jumped up in the air flapping his arms and moving his head. He then did the wave with his arms and skipped around following the butterfly. Stryder finished his move off with an attempt to do the splits but really just hitting the ground. He looked up and smiled at the girls. This was pretty fun. Stryder then noticed a girl jump in the bushes. He raised his eyebrows in curiousity near the bush. Stryder got up and went back to Dresden and Genevieve.
"Was it just me or did you see a girl fly into thoses bushes?"

Dresden agreed with Gen, a smirk on her face. She wanted to see Stryders dance moves, or 'dance moves'. She wasn't actually sure he could dance, but then again, neither could Dresden."Go on Stryder. Show us your awesome dance moves."
Stryder rolled his eyes and made a comment, and Dresden fired it right back. "Buy a ticket? Why? Have you joined the circus?"
As Stryder stood up, the butterfly flew away. Stryder began his dance move called, ironically, the butterfly. He began jumping and flapping his arms around. Dresden rolled around on the ground in uncontrollable laughter. Her eyes began to form tears, and her face became red. When she was able to gain control of herself again, she sat up and wiped her eyes, still laughing. "You call that the butterfly?! From where I was watching, it looked more like a seizure!"
Stryder came back over to where Gen and Dresden were sitting on the ground, and asked if they had seen the girl jump into the bushes. "Of course I did. The eyes in the back of my head aren't there for nothing."

Genevieve wathced as Stryder got up and began his dancing. Genevieve had taken dancing lessons herself when she was little and this didn't resemble dancing whatsoever. Instaed, just as Dresden had said, it looked like Stryder was having a seizure. Genevieve laughed hysterically along with Dresden. She wished now more than anything that electronics could work at Hogwarts, because if they did this would be the greatest black mail in the world.
Stryder had closed his piece with a not so gracefull fall and to top it all of his famous handsome smile. Genevieve couldn't help but smile back, he was so charming. She turned quickly to show that she wasn't flirting and couldn't help but notice what looked like Hay jump into a bush. SHe wasn't the only ones who spotted Hay. Genevieve stood up and put her finger on her lips to tell Dresden and Stryder to remain quiet. She walked over to the bush and moved some of the branches away to find Hay reading a book.
"Hey Hay, you can join us if you want. I'm sure it will be much more comfortable over here than in a bush." Genevieve said extending a hand out to the Ravenclaw to help her up.
