A bird flew across the sky overhead, making soft and beautiful chirping noises. Incests flew past, making buzzing noise. Students chattering, and the swishing of the waves in the lake nearby were all in earshot. Nathaniel looked up, as he watched a beautiful blue butterfly flying overhead, and the boy's eyes followed it, high, up into the sky, until the butterfly could no longer be seen. As Nathaniel watched the butterfly go about on his way, a small grin began tugging at the his mouth. The urge to smile quickly vanished, however.
Nathaniel sighed deeply, and a sad feeling washed over him. His mother loved butterflies. If only she were here now. If only she were here to watch her three children grow up. Even though Nathaniel's mother had passed on six years ago, it still pained the boy to think about her, and life without her. The boy quickly pushed the horrible thoughts to the back of his head, and forced a small grin upon his face.
Nathaniel stood from the spot that he once occupied, by the lake, and began a small stroll around the Hogwarts grounds. It was just like the saying that he had always heard from friends and family: You never forget the person, you just get used to it after a while. It was true. Although the boy still missed his mother deeply, he had gotten used to her not being around. He supposed that it wasn't much different than being away from his father, Britney, and Chloe all school year. It was probably just the fact that he knew that she wasn't there anymore.
Nathaniel plopped himself on a bench in the courtyard, as his eyes traveled around his surroundings. Many students chattered and enjoyed themselves. No one that Nathaniel actually knew, or knew enough to go up to them, to start a conversation. Nathaniel sighed again, and shrugged. He didn't mind being by himself.
