Leon had washed and dressed in record time that morning. It was a saturday, and time for Leon to spend the 'quality' time with his cat Zaphani. Although this had not gone well in the past, Leon now wore thicker tops to stop the scratches. Wearing light blue jeans and a dark blue jumper, Leon scrambled out of the castle, the manic feather duster in his arms. He ran straight towards the courtyard, trying to stop the cat from running out, while at the same time soothing it with his voice, which was anything but soothing. Once by the lake he reached a muggle cat toy from his pockets, which resembled a soft version of Papa Smurf. The cat immiediatly pounced on it, hissing and growling. A second later it retreated from the toy, leaving behind a bundle of ripped-up cotton and a squeaker. Sighing, Leon got ready a bucket of the lake water, to throw over the cat.

Katrina walked around the courtyard. She was wearing a pair of pin-striped trousers and a big maroon jumper. She had her hair up in a bunch which some stray pieces of hair had fell out of making her look very beautiful.
She was holding her cat, Blue. Blue was a black cat and was named very unusually as Katrina got her when she was very little. As Katrina was also young at the time, her small, infant brain had come to the conclusion that the kitten was blue and the first word that came out of Katrina's mouth when her parents asked her to name her was "blue".
She walked slowly with her cat who was asleep in her hands. She was a big, furry, and recently discovered, heavy cat.
Katrina glanced ahead of her, so she knew exactly where she was going and saw Leon wearing Ravenclaw blue and playing, or struggling, with his cat. Katrina smiled as Blue awoke and gave a pompous look at Leon's cat's behavior.
Katrina waled further down and examined what was going on. "Do you want any help, Leon?"

"NO you stupid...thing!" Leon bellowed at the cat. It had just tried to rip his jumper, but first thought it needed to kill Leon. Pulling the thing off of his face, Leon looked up to see Katrina, standing with her obedient cat in her arms. Leon grinned at her, then looked with a scowl down at Zaphani.
"See Zaphani, thats how a REAL cat behaves! Not scratching and wailing like you do." Leon threw the cat gently away from him, then stood up, brushing the cat fur off his blue outfit. Then he answered Katrina's question. "No thanks- i'm ok now. Zaphani's just....troubled? No, to put it straight, my cat is nuts." Leon laughed. Blue looked at him almost snootily.

Katrina smiled and laughed with Leon. She had been trying to talk to him but they had only met in class where they had to be silent. Katrina stroked her cat gently and rubbed it's tummy.
"Well, at least your cat does something. My cat is always sleeping!" she said, indiating to Zaphani, who looked like it was going to try and eat Leon.
Katrina looked at the floor around her, she checked but nothing was there so she slowly sat down. She still held Blue tightly.

Leon grimaced as Zaphani scratched his cheek. Dipping his hand into the water bucket he flicked some at the rebel, laughing as the cat scampered away under the bench.
"Yeah, but i'd rather have a sleeper than a killer! I often have to keep water with me at all times- very annoying." Changing the subject, Leon sat next to Katrina, patting Blue with a smile. "So have you a date for the wonderful ball?"

Katrina smiled as Leon sat next to her, she stroked Blue as well as they talked.
"So have you a date for the wonderful ball?" Leon asked politely, Katrina looked at him quickly and shoke her head. This was probably the first time anyone had mentioned it to her. She had already noticed people were getting anxious about it but it had never bothered her.
"No, hadn't thought about it really," she explained, looking down at Blue and stroking him again. Katrina looked up to see Zaphani chasing butterflies down the riverbank.

Leon listened as talked. With a grin, he spoke. "I'm going with Maryn- you know her I think. I hope to see you there- we're going in costumes, it should be fun!" Leon smiled again at the thought.
Then he saw Zaphani, who had swapped his attention from the butterflies to Blue. Swatting, Leon threw the whole bucket over his irritating cat, soaking him. In the hurry, Leon noticed Blue and Katrina had got splashed too. Apologetically, he tried to hide his laughter.
"Oh, i am sorry! Here- Scourgify Leon said, wand pointed.

As Leon fixed her appearance with his spell, Katrina laughed. She patted her chest to make sure every bit was off. She stroked her hair and shifted herself so she sat more comfortabley.
"So, what classes do you like nowadays? I know my favourites have changed since last year," she asked and nodded at the castle.

Watching as she smiled, Leon thought for a second for an answer. It was true that his favourite classes had changed since first year, but not immensly. With a strained frown, he answered Katrina as he flicked a fly from his nose.
"Nothing much- i hate divination more, and quidditch i like more. But around the same i'd say. How about you? I've heard your great at Herbology." Leon grinned. He didn't mind Herbology, though it seemed a little pointless to him. Swatting at the fly again, he knocked it from Katrina's arm, trying not to hit the girl.

Katrina thanked Leon as the fly flew away and she pulled her hair back so it didn't fall into her eyes. She giggled as Zaphani teased and jumped around Blue and Blue looked back up at him and sneered. "Well, I'm still loving Herbology as you said but I have this strange urge to like Divination this year. I'm still no good at it but still. I'm still terrible at things like Transfiguration and Charms."
She gazed up at the sky and saw hundreds of bird sly over her and Leon. They sky was completely clear with not a cloud in the sky. Katrina loved it when it was like this as she was usually freezing in Scotland at this time of year. "So, are you staying here for Christmas?"

Watching with amusement as Zaphani tried to swat playfully at Blue, and Blue glared at the male, Leon grinned. Then he looked up at Katrina, a small frown on his face. "Transfiguration and charms? My favourites! And beginning to like Divination- you must be mad. I know everything there is to know aboutt he subject, as my mother was into it big time a while ago and i had to research everything and know it by heart. And knowing all that, i can tell you there is nothing in the subject interesting!" Leon grinned. The subject was very boring, but it was handy knowing all the things about it as he knew it would come in handy for his exams.
Leon watched as Katrina looked up at the clear blue sky, smiling as he heard a yelp from Zaphani that could only have meant he had pushed at Blue's limits. Looking back at Katrina, he nodded. "Yeah, my little sister is really ill and thought it would be easier for my parents if i stayed home this year." Leon quickl changed the subject. " How about you?"

Katrina adopted a sad face to comfort Leon on his sister. Katrina didn't like people being sad as she remembered when she saw her Parents become very ill and she was incredibly scared. "Oh, I'm not sure at the moment. My mother said she said she isn't sure if I should come home or not. I probably will but it's with way at the moment." she said, rubbing her hands together and stuffing them in her jumper so she could still feel them as she was getting awkwardly cold.
"Well, I hope your sister gets well," she added, trying to keep their conversation going.

Nodding, Leon smiled. Katrina was nice, and he felt she would be good friend to have. Then he jumped back as he saw Blue and Zaphani chasing each other round his legs, Zaphani tripping on his feet every now and then. Before he could stop them, Zaphani fell over for good and in a blur Blue landed with a crash ontop of him. With an odd, amused frown, Leon picked Zaphani up, scratched his little head hard, then set him down again- this time the right way up. Then he looked up again, noticing a sudden change in the wind. It was getting colder, and he shivered a little in his blue jumper. He watched a school owl jump from a tree, swooping down to the floor in a deep dive, pulling up just before it hit the ground with a crash. Smiling, Leon dipped his head to the side. Murmering to himself absent-mindedly, he spoke quietly.
"That owl- just like a broom. See how it swoops, then pulls up expertly? A very experienced broom of course." He looked up again, noticing he had spoken out loud. He grinned at Katrina. "Which broom do you have Katrina?"

Katrina frowned when was confused at Leon's random outburst about his broom. "Which broom do you have Katrina?" he asked and Katrina thought carefully. "Nimbus 2001, my father got it for me last year!" she said as the memory came back to her. She looked down at Leon, he didn't look particularly broad or strong so she would know if he was lying but she really wanted to know. "Are you any good at flying or....Quidditch, are you good at Quidditch?" she asked quickly, hoping she didn't sound to nosy.

Leon smiled as the subject of Quidditch arose. Sitting more comfortably on the bench, he answered as Zaphani left Blue, and jumped on Katrina's lap.
"I love Quidditch- love it. And i can't really say if i'm good or not without souding like im boasting, so i guess i'll have to boast! I am good at it, seeker's my favourite, though i don't mind chaser or keeper. And a Nimbus? That's good, nice broom. Are you good at Quidditch?" Leon asked her, not unkindly. He supposed she was, what with the great broom and everything. Smiling as Blue jumped on his lap, he stroked the fur slowly as the cat purred.
