Some people need a good laugh (Brooke-Vincent)

Katie was walking out of the Library. She was studying for potions and charms. Since she wonted to be the next prankster she needed to know some good charms and spells.

As Katie was walking down the corridor her hair was flowing behind her. As she walked out and into the courtyard she noticed her fellow prankster friend, Brooke. She than went over towards her and smiled at her.

"Glad I found you we need to start a prank." Katie said looking at people who they could prank on. Katie than notice Vincent Crabbe and her lips curled up into a smile. Since she wonted to prank on in DADA class she didn’t she really needed to pay attention to the Professor.

"Okay I am going over and give him a piece of candy and I will come back and you go over and give him this book." Katie said with a smile and a wink.

She than walked over towards Vincent and gave him a big smile.

"Hello I am Katie Davenport a fellow first year Gryffindor. Do you won’t a piece of candy? I am trying to be nice to people and I wont to make new friends." Katie said to him and she left over towards Brooke wondering if he will eat the candy.

Brooke had just come down from the owlery for a spot of fresh air when Katie walked up to her.

"Okay," she said as she watched Katie walk over to Crabbe and hand him a piece of candy.

'Now it's my turn,' she thought as she walked up to him.

"Hi! I'm Brooke. I'm a first year and I was wondering if maybe you would like to have this book? I have so many already and people just keep giving me more and more. So I decided I would donate most of them, but then I saw you and though, 'hey maybe he would like one' and I know I'm rambling on and on but I get nervous around new people. Especially if their someone like you," Brooke said with a fake giggle, "So, um, if you want it?"

She handed the book to him and walked away slowly.

Vincent was walking along the corridor, trying to get back to the Common Room without too many Mudbloods bumping into him when he noticed a girl in front of him. He would have carried on walking straight into her. She was a lot smaller than him, there was not a teacher in sight and she was getting in his way. But she began to speak, and he looked down at her, wondering whether she ought to get a shove for this insolence.

Then he noticed the candy in her hand, and grabbed it from her. He was bemused when another little thing walked up to him and tried to hand him a book. He considered walking right through her, and then walking over her just a few times before leaving her thoroughly bruised.

Vincent stared stupidly after the two girls. A voice in his head was urging him, "Drop it! Drop it!" So he dropped the book. What did an almost illiterate person like him want with a book that a filthy Mudblood had had their hands all over? Then he had a better thought. He picked up the book from the floor and flung it at the stupid girl.

Vincent looked down to the piece of candy in his hands. He then looked to the two girls. He didn't trust them. They were either extremely stupid and foolhardy, or they were up to something. Vincent couldn't decide which. He pocketed the candy and walked towards them, cracking his knuckles.

Katie was glancing back at him she noticed he didnt take the candy and throw the book at them. She wasnt afarid of him at all she lived with an abusive father and she wasnt afarid of geting hit.

She than looked at Brooke as if to say go or stand your ground. Katie looked up at Vincent and smirked at him, she put her hand in her pocket and touched her wand slightly.

"I am guessing your not the stupit huh? Try to hit me than but your have to catch us. But I been used to geting hit I lived with and abusive father." Katie screamed at him. She was making sure the Brooke wouldnt get hurt.

"Run Brooke run! I will stay here run!" Kaite screamed at her. She than looked from Brooke to Vincent when he was just a intch from her her lips curled up into a smile and she stared at him she wasnt afarid of him. Just when he neared her Katie than grabbed Brookes hand and dashed to the other side of the courtyard.

"Go to the common Okay Brooke?" Katie said to her still grabbing her hand.

"I am not scarid of him I was used to this at home." Katie said trying to fight back the memories.

Brooke thought quickly as Crabbe came towards them. She considered all of her options and was just about to speak when Katie pulled her away.

Brooke had never been one to run away and leave her friends hanging. She was a Gryffindor after all. And that would do awful things for her reputation. She refused to be the little first year coward. No, she would stand her ground right beside Katie. Besides, the only thing to fear was fear itself, right?

Brooke snorted, "He doesn't scare me."

She eyed him up and down carefully with one eyebrow raised.

"I'm not leaving," she said with a formidable note of finality.

Katie looked at Brooke and nooded her head fast.

"No go...... he really can punch and I am used to it." Katie said to her. She was used to it when she lived with her father he would hit Katie.

She looked up at Vincent and she could see her father. Katie started to back away as he came near. She was trying to hold back strong tears swelling up in her eyes she hated her father and he looked like Vincent.

"Br.....ooke........lets........go.......together." Katie tried to say as she saw the image of her father come up. She was hypervanulating and she grabbed Brookes hand and ran into the castle.

Brooke stared at Katie in shock. Katie was hypervenilating and it looked as if she was about to cry. Brooke stole a quick glance at Crabbe and a glance at Katie, deciding in a split second that Katie was more important than her reputation.

Katie started to pull her back towards the castle and she ran along beside her. As they entered into the castle Brooke felt as if she should say something to her, but she decided that it would be easier once they had stopped running.

The only question was, where was Katie taking her?

Katie was running as fast as she could still holding onto Brookes arm. She stoped in the middle of the hall way and looked around she saw the One eyed witch and she ran over towards it. She than looked behind her and saw that Crabbe wasnt behind them. Katie was relieved and she took out her wand and looked both ways before tapping th witched left leg and right eye.

Then a secert passage came up and Katie ran inside still grabing Brooke by the arm. As she ran inside she tripped and fall down the stairs with Brooke behind her. As they reached the bottom Katie got up and took out her wand.

"Lumos" Katie said as light came into the dark passage way. Katie could see a mouse squrrey by them and cobwebs everywhere. She looked up at Brooke and smiled.

"Are you okay?" she asked Brooke.

"This passage leads to Honeyduckes...... I came down here once." Katie told her walking ahead of her.

As she was walking she notice a door she hasnt seen before. She starred at it for a while.

Brooke squinted in the dim light, trying to look around before realizing that she too had a wand.

"Lumos," she muttered, pulling her own wand out.

She scanned the area as best she could.

"Nice," she said to herself before turning to Katie, "I'm fine. Are you? You looked really freaked out back there."

Brooke cocked her head to one side and leaned back against the wall.

Katie continued to look at the door she never heard Brooke say anything. She was very courious about what could be inside of it.

"Aloa Almoa" Katie with a flick of her wand and the door opened. She waved her hand for Brooke to follow her.

As they went down the path of the door Katie couldnt see anything she let her feet guide the way to get out. As she reached the center she could see a big snake head. She stood where she was shocked. Could they be in the chamber of secerts......

Brooke stared into the black abyss that lay behind the door. Katie waved for her to follow, but it took her a moment of hesitation to finally give in to her curiosity.

She scuffled along the dark hallway, trying not to trip or run into Katie. When they finally reached the center she looked at the large thing in the middle for a moment before realizing that it was a snake head.

'What is a snake head doing in here,' she thought.

But then she remembered something she had heard about the Chamber of Secrets and Salazar Slytherin.

"Katie," she half whispered, "this isn't the Chamber of Secrets, i-is it?"

"I don't know......... it couldnt be the enterance is in the girls laventary...." Katie said walking walking forwards closer to the snakes head. It was a big head and it had red eyes. Katie looked around but she didnt see anything else.

"It isant the Chamber of Secerts it can't be they passage only leads to Honeydukes." Katie said than walking away from the head and through the door.

As she reached the one eyes witch she peeked through the a crack in the wall too see if any one else was there.

Brooke followed Katie back to where they had come in making a mental note to figure out what this place was.

"Anyone out there, Katie?"

(( I'm not sure that we ever were particularly in the Courtyard - Crabbe doesn't go there much. Just carry on here for now, I guess.))

Vincent smirked as the girls ran away from him. Well, he hadn't been exactly sure what he was going to do anyway, but scaring them had certainly been fun. Vincent chuckled and turned back, walking along, humming. The sound came out as a drone, but he wasn't aware of quite how tuneless it was.

Vincent pulled the candy out of his pocket and eyed it, smiling. Maybe he ought to go to the Hall and grab some pork pies off the Hufflepuff table? That would be a suitable detour to make before he returned to the Common Room. Vincent pondered this, walking in a slightly random direction, which would eventually take him to the Hall.
