Kelsey ran outside, tears brimming her bright green eyes. She turned sharply into the courtyard with its beautiful fountain and wonderful gardens. She sat down quickly as her books fell from her bag. She couldn't help but break into sobs. She tried desperatly to pull her books back into her bag, but gave up and laid back against the wall.
Kelsey's day was just plain horrible. She had woken up already ina bad mood, then went to breakfast where she spilled her Pumpkin Juice on her new red and black plad skirt. She had tried to get the stain out, but only to find that Peeves had cursed the water to make it worse. Kelsey had then went to her first class and found she couldn't concentrate. Not getting any work done that day, she even ran into Justin. Her new found crush. She now knew nothing would help her concentrate. Kelsey had spilled more stuff on her skirt at Lunch. She had snapped at Amelia, who isn't talking to her now, because of Kelsey's bad mood. And now Kelsey just wanted to be alone. But she wasn't alone. Someone was walking up to her right now. Kelsey had an urge to snap at them to leave her alone. But she suppressed it.

Justin Lionheart had just woken up. He quickly realised however that class was over and people were rushing out. Justin stood up and began to put his book back in his bag. He then remembered that he had to find a date for the Halloween Ball and he thought that today ought to be the day he asked the girl he wanted to take. He quickly rushed out of the class with all the others and saw quite a few of his friends ,most of them fellow Gryffindors. He said " Hi." to a few of them and made his way to the Courtyard. He walked down the many flights of stairs and saw many people going up and down the stairs in hurrying way. One of the people bumped into him and knocked his bag down over the side of the stairs. ((Uh-oh ,)) he thought ,(( better think of something ,quick.)) He pulled out his wand ,pointed it at the falling bag and said "Accio!" His bag promptly flew back to him and he pocketed his wand. He began the long walk down the stairs again.
When he finally reached the bottom he saw that there were a few students in the Entrance Hall. He saw that most of them were Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs. He said hi to a few of them and walked outside. When the sunlight touched his skin , he suddenly felt woken-up. It was a bright sunny ,yet cloudy day. He walked torwards the Courtyard and began to look around for any of his friends. He noticed Kelsey Maddison ,a Hufflepuff 5th year girl he had met the other day. He walked over to her and said "Hey Kelsey." in an energetic voice ,but noticed that she was crying. He sat down beside her and said " What's wrong?" in a caring ,wondering voice.

Kelsey looked up at Justin suddenly. He was so handsome in the half light and she felt the need to brush her tear away as fast as possible. But not before he asked what was wrong. She sighed, knowing she could trust him.
"Justin, my day is so screwed up!" she sobbed slightly then and looked down at the grass. The fountain's sounds seemed to slow through her and she sighed, brushing her dark hair behind her ear and wanting nothing more than to go for a swim. She looked at all the flowers surrounding her. The colors seeming to brighten her up. She suddenly wanted to be holding her Violin.
"Justin, I hate today," it was the complete truth, "I just want to rewind and record over!" she sighed then.

Justin looked into her tear streaked eyes and suddenly felt the need to cheer her up. He said " You know I think ,ummm ,your really pretty." and blushed a deep scarlet. He then looked at the lake and thought about what he was going to say to her. He then looked back at her ,still blushing ,and smiled. He said " You should'nt be sad , your to pretty to be." He then finanly worked the courage to ask her ,but he wanted her to be cheered up befor he asked her.

Kelsey smiled. He thought [1]she[/i] was pretty. She couldn't stop blushing. She felt suddenly happy and had a sudden urge to hug him. She looked up at him and flung her arms about his neck in a hug.

Justin suddenly felt Kelsey put her arms around him and he suddenly blushed a deeper scarlet. He finally said " Well that was ,cool." He then hugged her back and waited a few until he realeased her and he stood up to his full heighth and said " Would you like to go to the Halloween dance with me?" blushing even deeper.

Kelsey smiled, blushing. In the dim light she couldn't see if Justin was blushing, when he realised her asfter hugging her back. She saw him straighten and asked her something she would never forget. Her jaw dropped and she smiled. Her heart exploded with joy and she bounced on the bench.
"YES!" she said hugging him again, all traces of sadness or irritation was gone and only the fact that her and Justin were going to the Ball together remained.

Justin looked at Kelsey waiting for her answer. He then saw her bouncing up and down on the bench . He then felt happiness and extreme relief when she answered 'Yes.' He said " Alright ,this is going to be fun." He then said " I did'nt think you would say yes ,but I sure am glad you did." blushing once again. He sat down beside and could'nt help but beam at her.

Kelsey saw him beaming at her and she couldn't help but laugh. She was that happy. No time in her life had anyone told her she was pretty. All those times in Foster Homes with no real sense of belonging anywhere always had put a dent in her self asteem. She always this idea that no one liked her, that no guy would ever ask her to something as a Halloween Ball. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of someone liking her. She was so happy she wanted to cry. She didn't of course, most people wouldn't understand how much this meant to her.
"Justin... I am truely speachless." she said smiling, again.

Justin watched as Kelsey smiled and said she was speechless and he could'nt help ,but smile. It was the first time he ever heard a girl say she was speechless to him and mean it in a good way. He said " Good ,so what do you think we should go as?"

Kelsey laughed. "I have no idea, Justin!" she said. Her silky dark hair fliped as she flicked her head to rid her eyes of the stands of hair. Her green eyes watched as a fire fly made its way across the dark grass. She smiled.
"We could be Hawiian people," she smiled at Justin, "I can get a grass skirt and flowers and stuff... don't know about you... Um... or Pirates." she laughed at the idea, "That would be so much fun to dress up as,"

Justin looked up and saw a mental picture of him as a pirate and said " Lets think about this later ,when we have a whole lot of time on our hands." He then stood up as the bell rang and said" Uh-oh ,gotta get to class. Bye Kelsey see you after class." Went over to her kissed her on the cheek and turned around rushing to class.

Kelsey stared after him, strangely dreamly. The feeling of his lips on her cheek lingered. She put her fingers up to her cheek and smiled. Then grabbed her books and walked over to the castle for the last class of the day.
