Sunshine and a Good Book.

Hermione woke up early, it was Sunday, the first Sunday since school started back, and she lay staring at the ceiling. She was really glad to be back at Hogwarts, to her old sheets, her classes and all of her friends. She swung her feet out of bed and put her feet in her slippers, she then walked to the door and walked downstairs to the common room from the sixth year Gryffindor girls’ bedrooms. Hermione was wearing periwinkle long pyjama bottoms and a white top, with navy blue slippers. She walked down the stairs, a bit of a hop in her step, she was really glad to be back, even with the danger that there was no since Voldemort had returned; if there was one safe place in the Wizarding community, it was Hogwarts.

There was no one in the common room, and Hermione quickly made her way back upstairs, where she grabbed her towel and some clothes and headed for the baths. A little while later Hermione was back in her room, dressed in her school robes and looking for something to do. She walked over to the boys’ dormitory and knocked, but no one answered, that meant Harry and Ron were out somewhere. Hermione thought that some fresh air would do her good, that and she just felt like walking. She walked down to the great hall for a quick breakfast; toast with jam, orange juice and sausage. After breakfast she was making her way to the courtyard, a quiet place on Hogwarts grounds, but first she stopped in the library for a book to read.

Outside, her book of Protective Charms in her hand, she made her way to the courtyard. She sat on the fountain’s edge and opened her book, she planned to spend the rest of her day right there, reading and enjoying the sunshine.

Kiyla was walking around like she usually did. It was early and no one she knew was around so she had decided to go into the courtyard. She had been walking around for quite some time when she came across a girl reading a book. Kiyla paused for a second wondering if she should say anything to the girl then pushed aside her shyness and walked over to her.

"Hello, I'm Kiyla. Do you mind if i sit with you?" Kiyla said nervously as she stood before the girl. She was afraid that the girl would say something mean to her. She was instantly regretting that she said something to the girl. She looked anxiously at the girl awaiting her answer.

When Liam woke this morning, he wiped the sleep from his eyes and had a terrible feeling in the pit of his stomach. 'It's Sunday,' Liam thought to himself. 'This is the most boring day of the week, I hate it.' As he finished his thought, Liam got out of his pajama's and dressed for the day. He put on his favorite pair of pants, his socks and his shirt before putting on his school robes. Once dressed, he picked up his wand, stuck it in his pocket and left the boy dorm, heading for the Gryffindor common room. As he climbed through the portrait hole, Liam's stomach was growling at him, telling him he had better get something to eat before he went about walking the grounds.

Once he had gotten a bite to eat, Liam headed for the courtyard, looking for somebody that he knew. It didn't take long for Liam to spot someone he knew. As he approached her, Liam saw another girl get to her before he could. As Liam reached them, he heard the girl say her name and ask if she could sit with her. When Liam got a good look at the second girl, he realized he'd seen her someplace before. A few short seconds later Liam realized that he had seen her in the Potions class.

"Hi, Hermione," Liam said when he was finally standing by where she was sitting. "Wonedrful day, isn't it? Do you mind if I join you?" Liam asked. Without waiting for a reply, Liam sat on the ground next to the bench, took out his wand and made a couple of twings that were near by start to dance.

Hermione looked up from her book, there standing before her was a girl, younger than her by appearance, and Hufflepuff by the badge on her uniform. By the look on the girl’s face, Hermione could tell that she was a little uncomfortable, obviously not used to approaching strangers. “Hi. Hermione Granger. Nice to meet you,” she said with as pleasant and cheerful a voice as possible. Hermione moved over a little for Kiyla, “Sure,” she said to Kiyla’s question if she may sit with her. Hermione knew very few Hufflepuffs if the truth were told; she spent most of her time with Harry and Ron.

Hermione’s head spun around towards the second voice to address in the last few moments, “Oh, hello Liam,” she said with smile. “Sure is. Course you can join us.” Liam had not waited for Hermione’s response, but had taken a seat nearby and was proceeding to charm come twigs. “Liam do you know Kiyla?” she asked looking at him.

Kiyla forced a smile towards Liam. She knew him but she highly doubted her knew her.

"No.. he doesn't know me." Kiyla mumbled to Hermione. No one knows me, Kiyla wanted to add but didn't.

Kiyla looked over to Liam and laughed a little at his dancing twigs. She quickly stopped herself surprised that she had laughed.

You need to lighten up. It's okay to laugh. A voice said in Kiyla's head.

As Liam continued to charm the twigs, he hadn't realized what was going on around him. He went along playing with the twigs for a few more moments, before hearing Hermione ask him a question, "I don't know her, not really. I have seen her around the school and in classes, but that is about it."

As the twigs continued to dance, Liam tried to listen to what was going on around him as he was growing bored with the dancing twigs. As he heard Kiyla laugh, Liam said, "It's rather funny isn't? It was always something to do since I don't have any siblings and I live with my grandfather. I don't know why I still do it."

Liam turned his attention back to the twigs, which had stopped dancing and were just standing there, waiting for Liam to make them do something else. At this site, a new idea poped into his head. The new idea was for the twigs to sword fight, so with a wave of his wand, Liam made the twigs start to have a sword fight.

Justin woke up later than he usually on Sunday morning. He looked out the window and saw that it was a mildly breezy ,yet sunny day. He got dressed in his school robes and grabbed his wand. He also grabbed his DATDA book for some studying if he felt like it. He was about to be on his way out when he remembered that he was going to light some fireworks (,due to a dare). He then made his way down the stairs and into the common room ,where he saw that there were only a few of his fellow Gryffindors there. So he decided to head outside ,to the Courtyard. He walked doown the many flights of stairs ,passing many familiar faces and finally reached the bottom of the many flights.


He stopped in the Great Hall and grabbed some toast before he made his way outside. He reached the Entrance Hall and went outside. As Justin neared the courtyard he heard two familiar voices. He decided to stop by and see 'em. He walked over to the voices and smiled ,saying " Hermione ,glad to see your back. Hi Kiyla ,how are you to today?" then he recognised the third guy ,but did'nt know him all that well ,though he knew his name. So he said " Hi Liam."

Kiyla smiled at Justin.

"Hey Justin, I'm alight... i suppose... how are you?" Kiyla was feelign alightly comfortable now that she saw Justin arrive. She decided to live a little and try to make friends.

"That'a really cool, Liam. I'm an only child too. I like with my adoptive mum. She's pretty cool."

As Liam sat there, playing with the twigs, he became even less aware of his surroundings until one of the twigs poked him in the leg. The twig had been trying for the other, but the other moved out of the way just in time for the first to poke Liam. "Ow, bloody twig. I didn't say stab me," Liam said, but it was to late the twigs kept on fighting each other.

As Liam was rubing his leg, he heard another boy come over. "Oh, hi Justin," Liam said. "How are you?" As Liam sat there waiting for a response, he made the twigs change what they were doing. Being a big fan of muggle writing, Liam was making the twigs now do scenes from Shakespears writings.

Katie woke up late in the morning. She looked around the dormitory and saw no one there. She leaned forward in her bed and noticed her book on the flour. She was up reading all night her new novel her father bought her. Her father was a teacher for Langue arts in a muggle junior high. He would always send her letters along with books with her snowy white owl snowflake. She picked up the book and put it on her bedside table. She got dressed and grab her notes and her book and walked out of the Gryffindor common room and onto the court yard. Katie was walking along the flowers and benches to find a nice place where she can read her book in the sunshine. It was a beautiful day with the sun gleaming over the castle. Katie then realized Kiyla a 3rd year Hufflepuff she meat. She also noticed a girl with bushy brown hair with the patch of a lion Katie thought she was in Gryffindor also but allot older. She also saw a boy watching the sticks dance. She walked over towards them. "HI Kiyla can I sit with you guys" she asked with a smile on her face.

Hermione looked at Kiyla as she mumbled that Liam didn’t know her, but when she laughed, she looked back at Liam, who had some twigs performing a show. “Now you do,” Hermione said when Liam confirmed what Kiyla had said. Hermione smiled as the twigs performed their little dance, “It’s cute Liam,” she told him as he explained how it had come about.

Hermione was watching the twigs, which Liam now had sword fighting, and had managed to get himself poked somehow, when Justin Lionheart appeared, she looked up, “Glad to be back Justin. How are you?” she asked him after he had spoken to the others. The conversation then turned to family, Liam had already revealed that he had only his grandfather, and now Kiyla was announcing that she had been adopted, “I’m an only child as well,” Hermione added, trying to make everyone more at ease. Just then another voice broke in, this time a girl, much younger than Hermione, a first year no doubt, she thought she recognised her, it was Katie, Katie Davenport of her house. “Hi,” Hermione said to her.

Katie smiled at Hermione glad that another Gryffindor said hi to her.
"I am also an only child too my mom died when I was born so I live with my father he’s a muggle teacher" Katie said wondering if anyone would care about her history.
She than looked at the twigs and laughed she thought it was a little funny when it poked Justin.
Katie was a little nervous and took a sit on a bench in front of them. Katie can be a bit shy at times epically now where she goes to another place not knowing anyone.
She smiled again at Hermione and tried to start a new topic as she watched the sticks.
"No one will care about soccer since in the wizzarding world love Quidditch and I am staring flying lesson soon...... ummmm" Katie thought
"When’s the next match I mean Quidditch game against Slytherin and Gryffindor" Katie asked. She thought that was a stuip question but she went on.

Liam looked up, surprised at everybody telling about how they were also only children. He knew that there were several other students at Hogwarts who were the only child in their families, he just didn't know to many of them. He noticed a new girl to arrive by the fountain, and he noticed right away that she was a Gryffindor by the badge on her robes. He stood up and as he reached out his hand, said, "Hello, I'm Liam, and your name is Katie if I remember right, if I'm wrong please say so."

As he waited for her to shake his hand, he said, "Soccer? That's where the muggles run around on a field and kick a ball into nets, right? I saw a game once, several years ago. But, the next Quidditich match, I'm not sure, Hermione, do you know?"

Katie looked up at Liam and took his hand and gave him a flashing smile.

"Yep that’s my name but I don't know yours?" Katie said letting go of Liam hand and sitting down next to him. She continued to look at him with her eyes of mischief.

She started to laugh once he tried to explain soccer.
"Yes that’s right us muggles running around on a field and trying to kick the ball into the goal." Katie said trying to remember her years playing soccer. She decided when Ron has left she will try out for Keeper she was a great soccer goalie and never let the ball go back her. She might never let the quaffle go into the hoops.

“Yeah Katie, it is Gryffindor versus Slytherin, in the next quidditch match.” She looked at Liam, “Yes that is what soccer is. Us muggle-borns still like muggle sports,” she said with a smile. “If you really want to know about soccer you should talk to Kimberly Sullivan, she loves soccer and listens to it all the time.”<br>
Hermione stood, she had been sitting for a while and she was rather bored of it. “Do you play Liam? Quidditch I mean?” she asked him. Both Ron and Harry were on the house team, and Hermione was like their cheerleader for lack of a better expression. She would cheer from the stands and root Ron on, especially, she knew he was still nervous about being the Keeper for the team.

Liam looked at Hermione and said, "Oh, sorry, I didn't mean anything by what I said about muggles, I'm just not use to being around so many, or even muggle-born witches and wizards that much."

"No, I don't play Quidditch, well not for the school, but I play with my family when I'm at home. I am thinking about trying out for the team though," Liam replied to Hermione. "It's just that I'm use to playing seeker at home, that it would be rather hard for me to learn a new position since Harry's the seeker for Gryffindor."

As Hermione and Liam started to have a conversion Katie grabbed her backpack and got out her journal full of music and prank ideas. She opened it and started to write some things down. She needed at least 30 new ideas in her journal so she could show Brooke, Jordan, and Dillion.

She stared off into space and started to think. She was stomped and needed her partners in crime. Katie than turned her head at Hermione and Liam and smiled as they talked about Quidditch.

"I know how you feel Liam I wont to play Keeper but Ron doing a great job he just needs to relax more that’s all. But he’s good." Katie said smiling at Hermione. She knew that Hermione and Ron were friends.

After she said something she went back to her ideas page and started to write some stuff down.

“I wasn’t offended Liam, don’t worry about it,” Hermione told the younger Gryffindor. “Yeah, Harry is Seeker and I don’t think he is about to give it up anytime soon Liam,” she said with a smile, “but you could try out for is sub, or another position.” Hermione realized the Katie had pulled out a book and had begun to write, she gave her a quizzical look before refocusing on Liam and the others.

She smiled as Katie complimented Ron, “You should tell him that, maybe it would mean more to come from someone else in the house besides me and Harry,” she told Katie.

Katie continued to write down some more prank ideas. She pulled away some of her hair that was in the way. Katie than looked up at Hermione and tried to smile.

"I don't think he wants to talk to me anymore. I played a little prank on him." Katie said with a chuckle.

"I gave him a piece of candy that will give him pimples. I shouldn't of given him the candy but I couldn’t help but too." Katie said with a smile. She hoped Hermione wouldn’t be mad at her for playing a little prank on Ron.

"Don't worry I wont pull a prank on you just yet. I try not to pull pranks on my friends." Katie said with a reassuring smile. She hoped Hermione and her will be friends. Katie was a really good person in the inside.

Liam listened to Hermione talk about Harry playing seeker, and when she finished, Liam replied, "I didn't expect him to give up being seeker, if I was him I wouldn't either. But, I don't know if I'll try out for a spot on the team. It's hard enough trying to keep up with my school work, what with getting detention from Snape all the time."

When Hermione turned her attention to Katie, Liam did his best to not listen, but when Katie mentioned pulling a prank on Ron, he focused in on the subject. "So, you're a prankster? Same here, but pulling one on Ron, come on. I wouldn't even do that. Now tell me to pull one over on a Slytherin and I am all over it, especially Malfoy, that git," Liam said with an evil looking grin.
