Maryn sadley made her way out of the Hospital Wing. A new cut was seen on the side of her face. "Why did this happen?" Maryn thought. But, she knew only Death Eaters knew the answer. Maryn was shaking as she walked. It was only a short time ago that the attack occured. She didn't want to go to the Sorting Ceremony. "How is the ceremony still going on?" She thought. "People died." She knew they had to have it. But, she still wasn't in the mood to go.
Maryn was slowley making her way past the steps on the stair case. She touched her face cut. She hadn't seen it yet, but she could tell it looked horrible. Maryn had also been badley cut on her leg, but Madam Pomfrey healed it. She however didn't have time to attend to Maryn's face.
Maryn quickley entered the Great Hall. She didn't look at anyone as she walked. She let the floor guide her to the Gryffindor Table. She hated people getting killed for no reason. She didn't understand it and would never accept it. She found a spot at the table where no one was sitting and and sat down. Her head was looking down at the table as she thought.

Elisabeth passed the great wooden doors as she entered the Great Hall. She saw all the students sitting at their respective tables. But she noticed - with a touch of sadness - that the hall lacked the usual cheer and joy that had been all too present in previous years. The events on the train had overshadowed the Sorting Hat ceremony with a blanket of doubt. Even the teachers were saddened by the incident, and that was to be expected.
She walked down the hall to the Gryffindor table. Elisabeth's ankle was sprained in the attack and she had some nasty bruises, but it seemed like nothing compared to some of her classmates' situations. She walked with just a hint of a limp, her ankle had been healed but it still hurt when she put pressure on it. She saw Maryn sitting all alone, staring at the table. Elisabeth sat down next to her and placed her arm on her shoulder. "Are you okay Maryn?" She asked, she was concerned about her friend; everyone handled the trauma differently.

Osiris couldn't believe what had happened he was still in a state of shock he was pushed a lot with the rest of the students to Madam Pomfrey at the hospital wing. Soon after arriving she told him he could go. His wrist had gotten hurt during the attack when he was trying to get out of the train. Madam Pomfrey just told him it was sprained and to run off to the Great Hall. Osiris did has she said but he wasn't looking forward to it. It wasn't going to be the normal happy Great Hall he entered the last time it was going to be in panic he knew it. He walked down to the Hall looking at the ground moving his wrist around, it was starting to feel better already.
Osiris Walked threw the doors which were already open and he was right it wasn't as cheerful as it was before. Osiris walked over to the Gryffindor table not knowing where to sit. He kept walking down the table and didn't feel like walking anymore. He sat down not looking to see if someone was a crossed from him but a few seconds he looked up and saw two girls a crossed from him. Osiris tried to smile but it was no use his wrist kept hurting him but he knew he got off lucky. "Umm hi I'm Osiris." He said trying to be polite. "If your saving this table for some people I'll move." He said moving his wrist around, it hurt but Madam Pomfrey said it would keep it from getting stiff.

Elisabeth walked over to Maryn and asked if she was okay. "I've been better." Maryn replied. Maryn turned her gaze from the table to Elisabeth. "I just can't believe it, you know." Maryn said. "I mean one minute I'm talking to you and the next thing I know we are hurt and people are dead." Maryn really didn't want to be here. She knew other people were in more mental pain, but she was still pretty bad. Maryn didn't get over things easily. They haunted her untill she couldn't take it anymore. Maryn was usually a cheerful person, but now she felt like that part of her would never be shown again. Maryn decided to talk about something a little less dramatic. "I bet I look aweful." Maryn managed to say as she touched her scar.
Just then a boy sat across from Elisabeth and Maryn. He introduced himself as Osiris. "I'm Maryn." She managed to say. She felt like a dementor attacked her. She was hurt and really confused at the world. "No, were are not expecting anyone." Maryn said not rembering if they were. She didn't want to talk to her usual group of friends right now.

Osiris put his hand on his pocket and felt his wand which now being in Hogwarts he was free to do magic. Osiris Realized something on the train when the attack was going on. Everyone was in a panic and they all looked for someone to help them, That was when Osiris knew what he really wanted to do with his life. He wanted to be the one people turned to when they were in trouble or scared like he was. Maybe not an Auror but something along those lines, He then moved his hand to other pocket where his flute was, the only thing he could grab before he had to run from the attack. Osiris then lowered his head to the table and closed his eyes for a second.
He soon opened them looking around just to see if a few people he knew were ok then looked back at Maryn and the other girl. "I'm glad to see both of you got out of the attack safe." He said in a calm tone. The attack had made him tired he didn't even think he would eat for the rest of the day, he just wanted to go to sleep if he could.

Osiris looked around for a second. "Thankfully, yes." Maryn answered. Maryn hated feeling this way, but she couldn't stop it. She hated feeling scared and weak. "I'm not this way." She kept telling herself. But, that didn't make her feel better. Maryn was usually brave, but when she heard the word Death Eaters, on the train she freaked. She wasn't scared for herself, she was scared for everyone.
Maryn looked at Osiris and then suddenly realized something. "I'm acting like I used to." Maryn thought. Maryn used to be very shy, but the Diagon Alley attack changed her. She wasn't even there and it somehow made her bolder. Maryn couldn't stand to feel like she used to. She decided to be bolder than her old self and say something, anything.
"What happened to your wrist?" Maryn asked eyeing his hurt hand. "That wasn't the new me." She thought to herself. But, that was the only thing she could think to say. Maryn's face then went back to its frown as she kept up her thinking. "I hope the ceremony starts soon." She thought. She just wanted to go to the common room and sleep in her bed.
Just then Headmaster Dumbledore started the feast and Maryn watched as food appeared in front of her. She just starred at it. She wasn't hungry.

Elisabeth smiled half-heartedly as a boy about a year younger that her and Maryn sat down across for them. He talked for a moment; and said he was glad that we were alright. She couldn't really agree. I mean, I'm not dead, broken or in a coma but I feel like I'll never be the same. she thought to herself. She was so quiet and saddened, not her usual friendly self. "My name is Elisabeth, nice to meet you Osiris." Her voice was shaky, and probably would be for a long while. She just couldn't get the images out of her head.
"Maryn don't be silly, your scar actually doesn't look that bad." Elisabeth tried to cheer Maryn up, it was the only thing she could think of doing. "And I bet the boys will find it attractive." She looked around the Great Hall for Thomas. She knew he was okay, but she had become somewhat paranoid after the attack and was afraid to lose anyone.

Elisabeth greeted Osiris politely. Maryn could tell Elisabeth felt as sad as she did. Maryn was so different from her usual self right now, a person could greet her and would think it wasn't her. Just becuase of her greeting. Maryn's gaze was still at the table.
She lifted her head after hearing Elisabeth's comment. "It could be worse." Maryn replied. She was thinking about the Hufflepuff who died. Maryn could have ended up like her, but that didn't matter to her. Maryn wasn't scared of death. She was scared of what would happen when she was gone. She couldn't stand to leave the world so horrible. Maryn was the type of person that hated the world in its current state. If she could make one tiny thing better, then she would be happy.
"You think?" Maryn asked when Elisabeth said her cut would attract boys. Elisabeth's gaze flew to the Hufflepuff table. Maryn knew why. She knew about Thomas. Certainly after what she heard on the train. Maryn wished she had someone like that.
"Madam Pomphry said it will be gone in about a week." Maryn said. "I'm so tired." Maryn said. She was. She didn't sleep the night before because she was so excited about going back to Hogwarts. She had planned to sleep on the train, but that didn't work for obvious reasons.

Maryn was right. It could've been so much worse. Elisabeth couldn't even imagine the sadness that the Hufflepuffs were feeling, one of their classmates died. Maryn asked her if the scar would attract boys. "Definitely, you can make up some brave story or tell the real story and have them comfort you. Either way, you win!" She tried to put some cheerfulness into her voice, but it was so hard to feel this way when this were so bad.
"I'm tired as well. I feel like I haven't slept in ages." She couldn't wait for the ceremony to be over so she could go to the dormitories and sleep.

"I think i'll go with the heroic story." Maryn gave a tiny laugh. "The real one ends with me sitting in a corner shaking, a charm hitting the glass, and me getting covered in it. Actually, they might say "Poor Maryn" and comfort me!" Maryn smiled for the first time in hours.
She was a happy smiley person. She couldn't just end it forever. Even though thats how she felt. Her face then drooped a little remebering recent events. "When is the ceremony going to be over?" She asked. She felt like maybe if she fell asleep and woke up everything that happened would go away forever.

Elisabeth laughed along with Maryn's idea that she would go with the heroic story. She saw Maryn smile, and she smiled as well. It felt good to make her feel better. "At least you have a scar that you can make a better story out of. Mine *on the back of my head* is from a party that got a little 'out of hand.' Yeah my ankle's sprained too, but that's no problem at all."
She saw her smile fade a bit, as she asked impatiently when the dinner would be finished. "I have no idea. I can't wait to get to my room. I have so much inspiration. And I need to write a letter to my...family telling them I'm alright." Elisabeth frowned, almost all the other students had mothers and fathers at home worrying about them. And what do I have? An aunt who's afraid to use magic and gets drunk 3 times a week! But then she felt guilty for thinking such thoughts, she was....lucky to have someone to come home to.

"Yea, the heroic story will be fun to tell." Maryn said. Maryn listened to Elisabeth's comment. "Yea, I need to tell my parents I'm all right. But, they will probally just tell me I should have been in the front of the train, but oh well." Maryn replied. "I don't like the front of the train, to many teachers." Maryn gave a samll devilish smile.
Maryn looked at the food in front of her and took a small sip of pumpkin juice. "That felt good." She thought as the juice made its way trough her body. She hadn't had anything to drink since the morning. "So, who do you think will teach Defence of thee Dark Arts this year?" Maryn asked wondering if there was anyone left to teach it.
Maryn then imagined her bed. She now realized how tired she was. She then thought of something. "Whats the common room password?" She asked. She didn't know.

Osiris still moving his wrist around. "I wish I had some kind of heroic story to tell about this." He said with a smile kind of glad he didn't. "I just sprained it trying to get out of there." He said looking about again at the people that were walked around. Then Maryn asked when the ceremony would be over and Osiris agreed. "I hope it's kind of soon I just want to sleep right now." He said then looking down at the table. "If that’s even possible right now." He said in a low tone. Then he felt his stomach growl. " On second thought, I wouldn't mind some food first." He said with a smile grabbing a chicken leg and putting on his plate. Then Elisabeth talked about writing home.
"I might just send a small letter saying I'm ok tonight. Then send them a bigger one tomorrow." He said then taking a bite out of the chicken leg.

"Your story sounds better than mine." Maryn gave a small laugh. "I mean I practically caused my own injurys. If I didn't get so freaked out from everything then I wouldn't have moved near the window and gotton cut. I should have been braver."
Maryn watched Osiris eat. Right then she would be fine if she never ate again. "Laura won't." Maryn said to herself. She thought of the dead Hufflepuff. Maryn now didn't feel like talking about the attack. So she looked once again at the table hoping one of the two would change the subject. Maybe then she would feel more normal.
