Dinner (Cougar)

Brook had awoken that morning happy and full of energy, and now about eleven hours later she was just as full of energy as she had been this morning. She was wearing her favorite T-shirt that had a Green Day slogo on it and some new jeans with sneakers. She had a bright blue hoodie stuffed in her bag and some people thought she was crazy for not having it on because it was so cold outside, which is why she loved her schedule, she didn't have to go outside for class until Friday! As she walked back to the common room to put upher bag she noticed a sheet of paper lying on her bed. 'Great' she thought I found my homework, but I still have detention. "Oh, well!" she said a loud and then sat her bag down and walked back out out of the room.


She was on her way to the great hall and was then mad at herself for not going earlier her table was practically full and all of her friends were in the middle of them all. ''Great'' she muttered and walked to the end of the table and sat down to try and enjoy her dinner even though she was by herself she started thinking ang got happy again when she remembered they had a project coming up in one of her classes and she figured that would distract her for a while.

Cougar had just done his homework, when he decided to go eat dinner. He walked into the Great Hall to see most of the table filled except for one girl on the end. He decided to keep her company. As he was walking over to her, he noticed it was Brook. he was amaze she wasn't with friends or running laps or jumping up and down. He guessed everyone had to recharge, even the Engergizer bunny. He laughed as he related Brook to that lovable bunny from muggle television. He sat down and greeted her, "Hey, are you sick?" Cougar knew that was a little harsh, but then again he knew how she jumped off the wall so he started getting worried for her.

Brook glared at Cougar as he asked her this simple minded question, he could of at least said what's wrong, or are you okay, but no he goes straight to 'Are you sick?'. Brook fumed ''So what are you like everyone else or do you actually give a crap if I am sick or not? And to answer your question no I am not sick I have just been excluded from my friends for some reason you notice everyone down there and me down here." she finished it took a deep breath and sat back down ignoring other peoples stares (not that therre were many, but there were some). Brook took a sip of pumpkin juice and she began racking through her brain for something to say to herself and calm her nerveonly one person could ever make her calm down and he died half a year ago.

Cougar sat a minute to soak it up. He wondered what he could say to excuse what he said. He thought and thought till his puzzler was sore, then thought he'd try something more. "Yeah, I actually do, but if a joke doesn't show it what does? so anyway what have you been up to?" Cougar said while looking over at the other crowd in the center of the table. He hoped that would "calm the storm before the ship was wrecked". He waited in anxiety to see what she would say.

Brook's eyes widened "Okay how can 'Are you sick?' be a joke?" she asked wondering if it really was a joke or just a cover up so she didn't embarass him, because 'Oh' she thought 'That would just make my day!' She looked up and narrowed her eyes where her suspicion was showing. She thought about something and made herself laugh thinking it would be funny if she got made enough and through something, but she couldn't see herself doing it and that is what made it funny. She couldn't hold in her laughter and just started laughing out loud and attracting more startes most likely but she didn't bother looking. She truthfully didn't care.

Cougar smirked. His plan was working. He felt a evil laugh im his throght, but suppressed it. "It was really a joke. I remembered how you are always bouncing off the walls so I figured something was up." Cougar said. He sat a minute, then she started laughing hesterically. Cougar thought she had finally cracked, but thought it better to ask if something whats up." Are you O.K?" Cougar asked. This time it was serious. He sat listening to her. He thought, Man, I have chuckled to myself, but never just burst out like that. He then realized that alot of people were staring at them. He shifted uneasily and thought of moving, but he knew he would never get Brook to calm down then if he left her sitting there. He decided to stick with her

"Sorry 'bout that!" said Brook a few seconds after her outburst. Sometimes people cheered her up, others people didn't. But when Cougar around he could easily make her laugh with his retarded sense of humor, she was never sure if he made her laugh on purpose or if he was just funny by accident, but who cared. "Thankyou very much! I think my newest type of sickness is cured." said Brook joking around. She liked being around people that was what usualy took her mind off things, but lately it just added to the amount of worries. "I think that I am going to actually eat dinner now!" said Brook. She picked up her fork and took a bite of dinner they were having tonight, and in her opinion it was very good.

Cougar ignored her and decided to eat as well. He watched as a plate of food magically appeared out of nothing. He was amazed to see what they were having. Chicken and black-eyed peas was on his plate as well as collard greens, cornbread, and some apple pie was on a separate saucer. He dug into his chicken and took a bite of cornbread. He had only tasted this once before. Once, when his father had taken him to America for vacation. They had eaten in a place called "Cracker Barrel". He couldn't believe that Hogwarts would serve something like this. He took a sip from his cup to find apple cider. Wow how can this get better? Cougar thought to his-self. "So what you been doing lately?" Cougar said trying to start a different conversation.

Brook saw that she had gotten chicken on her fork and then noticed that this was the only good thing on her plate. "Eww, who eats black eyed peas?" she said. A little bit later she answered Cougar's question "Well, let us see. Um.. I have been mad and happy with a lot of different people for many different things. I have been doing homework, and nothing very interesting except hanging out with first years, who I only hang out with because they are there every where I go. Hogsmeade, llounge and places like that. They just walk right over and start jabbering a way!" she said and then after taking a breath "And that is what I have been doing lately! What have you been doing?"

"Same thing except for dealling with first years. It seems like they multiply by 2 every year. Doesn't it? Well I haven't done much at all." Cougar opened out. He sat eating quietly. After he finished he felt as if he couldn't move. He sat contented. he looked at her to see her pushing everything aside on her plate except for chicken. Cougar smiled a bit. He couldn't help but say, out loud, sarcastically," You know they put peas and etc. on your plate for a reason." He couldn't help him-self. He sat braced for a counter-attack, for he knew it was coming.

"Oh," said Brook sarcastically "I am so glad you care!'' she finished and made that remark toward his black eyed pea remark. She could tell he was waiting for a better remark but she didn't feel like coming up with one so she just sat there with a big smirk on her face. "She finished her chicken and then suddenly her plate disappeared and some weird looking pie appeared, "What kind of pie is this?" she asked Cougar. "It looks like it has chunks of some fruit. Oh, nevermind I know what it is." and then it disappeared to. Brook was very picky about what she ate, she either liked it or she didn't, and when she doesn't like it she doesn't eat it, even if it is all she has.

Cougar enjoyed his meal. He was content just as he looked over to see Brook making a face. "What's wrong with you?" Cougar joked playfully. "By the way, I'm glad you know I care." Cougar added sarcastically. He had sat feeling very good. He was gleeful. He awaited what spasm would come out of Brook next

Seeing that she had nothing to say and she had used up all of her energy when she was insulting the Slytherins, she just sat that and scowled at the food and everyone else around her she had woken up happy and her good mood had evaporated just like 'that'! Her roomies were annoying and she couldn't think of anywhere to go where there wasn't anybody else. She had just gave up looking until she had reached the Great Hall, where she had hoped the table was completely empty, but she was out of luck, and there was a whole section that had been empty and of all people she had ended up sitting with Cougar. "What are you looking' at?" she had said when she noticed he was looking at her.

"Don't burst a blood vessel!" Cougar exclaimed. He didn't know what was wrong with her, but he was getting tired of it. Just because she had some personal problems didn't mean she automaticallt had the right to chew his head off. "What is your problem, anyway?" Cougar finally brought himself to ask. He was going to get to the bottom of this and try to fix it, because he had been around Slytherings long enough. "Which reminds me, you should put on the sorting hat once more. I think you belong in Slytherin." Cougar said hoping to finally put it to a rest.

"Blood vessels don't bust that easily!" Brook sneered, getting even angrier. She saw that he was trying to calm her down, but he wasn't going to be very sucessful. She had even tried to calm herself, but she couldn't. She grabbed her glass and actually debated on whether or not to throw in Cougar's face. Feeling that he didn't deserve it she took a small drink and set it back down. She began to calm down and finaly was ready to apoligize and was about to until she heard Cougar's next comment 'Which reminds me, you should put on the sorting hat once more. I think you belong in Slytherin.' that just did it, she was now really mad. Glaring at Cougar she said "I would rather be a Slytherin right now because then I would have some people behind me in a line waiting to smart off to you after me!" finishing this she thought about what she said, though it came out the wrong way, and wrong order it was suposed to come out in she meant it. Almost all Ravenclaws had atleast four enimies, she did and was positive that Cougar did too.

"Well they do that anyway." Cougar said with a . Cougar had had enough of that for one day. He didn't usually mind, but when it happens over and over in one day it loses it resistable characteristics quick. "Look are you gonna calm down sometime today or should I leave and see you some other time?" Cougar finally retorted. He put his hands on the table ready to get up

Watching Cougar get up and get ready to leave she debated again on whether or not to tell him she was sorry, deciding against it she said "Well, I didn't mean to take it all out on you, but you shouldn't have said anything to me! You brought this on yourself. I am not going to say I am sorry because I am not, and the only thing I regret is yelling." Slumping back down in her seat she started muttering curse words, and half phrases like 'there went another' and stuff like that. Looking up she saw that all the heads that had turned toward them a minute a go had lost interest and went back to their dinner. Wondering she looked up to see if Cougar had stayed or left.

Peter strolled in behind Amycus, he didn't look like the Creevey boy anymore. He looked like Peter. There was a girl. Yay! A girl! He looked at Amycus and quickly stepped forward with his wand raised, "Stupefy!" There was a shriek and Peter looked over to see Amycus torturing another student. Finally it had all begun. There was another boy there, how did Peter miss him before?

"Crucio!" Peter watched with pleasure, like a young boy in a candy shop or in Zonkos. But his fun was short lived. The boy passed out after only a few moments and lay there, limp. Peter scowled and rushed off, not caring if Amycus followed. He looked back and saw he had.

"Where to now?" Amycus asked with a scowl, obviously he hadn't had as much fun either. Peter grimaced and scittered along to the Student Lounge. Maybe there was to be fun there.
