Derrick could not help but feel slightly depressed as he munched on his toast at the Slytherin table, all alone as usual. He had been to Hogwarts for three years so far and he still felt like a first year. Perhaps it was partly due to the house he was put in, which he still didn't quite feel he belonged to. Sure he had ambition! He wanted to be Minister of Magic and restore honor back to the Gordon family as he promised to his dying father but his fellow Slytherins creeped him out. He could just imagine a few of them turning psychopath or becoming a death eater or something. It was no secret that Slytherins have turned out the most evil wizards and witches of all the houses. 'Oh why couldn't I have been a Ravenclaw?' he thought, dropping his head on the table.

Arabella stalked to the closest table and sat down to eat. There was someone else sitting there already, and he was wearing Slytherin robes. Well, tough luck. She couldn't be bothered moving to her own table, where everyone would be mistaking her for one of the Weasleys. Again.
You'd think that after an entire year people would've have caught on to the fact that her hair was actually a georgous shade of auburn, not that disgusting orange that sprouted from Ginny Weasley's head. You'd think they'd notice that she was several years younger than the youngest Weasley child. But no! Everyone saw the red gleam in her hair and the red tie about her neck and assumed it was another Weasley. They bred like rabbits, that family, and Arabella had to suffer for it.
Arabella turned to look at the Slytherin boy. He looked like he was sulking too. Maybe he was a first year. First years always sulked. Arabella knew, because she'd done a lot of that last year.
"What's up with you?" she asked irratably.
And that was another thing. Ginny Weasley had a posh English accent. Not as posh as that Hermione girl who bossed everyone about whenever she got a chance, but certainly not the broad Southern Irish accent that was coming out of Arabella's mouth right now. Not that Arabella considered it an accent. She spoke normally. It was everyone else who sounded weird.
