Dana had never before found the Hogwarts castle boring, or even afflictive. Yet most people were either packing or leaving the school for winter holidays. With the exception of Dana. Oh no, for the first time in her history she wouldn’t be returning to the Hogwarts Express to drive back home before holidays began. As she was passing a window Dana threw a glance outside and grimaced slightly. The drive to school had been… eventful enough to make sure Dana would never voluntarily take a step on any train ever again. It wasn’t as much as she was afraid of the train itself, no that was merely a piece of metal. Dana was afraid of loosing control over herself should she ever see the train from inside again. The image of Kris being hurt still haunted her anyway, without her having to enhance those memories any more. That would only be pointless self-torture and Dana wouldn’t hurt herself. That would me simply silly.
Shaking such thoughts from herself Dana continued her way, taking the turns almost automatically by now. After having studied here for 6 year, Dana knew her way around the castle relatively well. But the Great Hall was still one of the main pointers and it should be relatively nice place to have dinner and find a moment for herself to read. Tapping a rhythm of Christmas colour on the leather-bound book-cover hanging easily from her hand as she side-stepped a group of giggling girls offering them merely one glance.
The Great Hall doors opened and Dana misled at the two boys who had been exiting the room, as they but politely pulled back, letting Dana pass through the door first. Answering the boys greeting with a calm ‘Merry Christmas’ Dana moved shiftly through the room, choosing a seat near the middle of the Ravenclaw table hat was relatively empty.
Placing the book on the table next to her Dana looked around the choices of food before selecting out some pasta for herself. Pouring herself a pitcher of water Dana started to eat relatively quickly as her mind whirled around other subjects. Christmas and holidays mainly but also tried to recall as much as possible about the subject of the book she had brought along today. It was nearing the edge of dark magic, but since it had been sent her by Meredith, Dana had no hesitations about it being rather educational and neutral. The difference between good and evil was only knife-blade thin and the matter of view-point after all. And Dana tried to remain as neutral as possible, for the sake of herself and everyone. If two extremes destroyed themselves, then it was always the neutrals who had to rebuild the world after all.
