Anne ran a hand quickly through her wet hair. The water ran through her fingers and down her robes to the ground below. She frowned. Rain. Of all the things that could have happened today it had to rain. Annie threw her soaked notebooks on the floor just inside the Entrance Hall. She was soaked, thanks to her own brilliance with deciding she needed to be as far away from the doors as possible. She reached in her pocket and pulled out her wand which slipped from her wet hand and hit the floor causing a few yellow sparks from the end. She winced at the sight. Wonderful. It better not be broken, because I don't have time for this, she thought to herself as she bent down and picked it up trying to hold on to the slippery wood. She then pointed it at herself and her clothes quickly dried as did her hair. Although it wasn't top notch. She still couldn't get the spell perfect. A few places were still damp and her hair was frizzed. She ran her still wet hands through her hair and tried to calm it.
A Gryffindor thought Anne to be quite the sight and they started laughing. Anne turned quickly to the kid and glared as she held her wand out. The kid seemed to get the hint and took off at top speed, still laughing unfortunately, but at least they were gone. Anne rolled her eyes at the pest as she returned to running her hands through her hair. She shrugged as she realized it was as good as it was going to get. She turned to her soaking notebooks. They were her journals. She had been reading through them for the past hour. It was something she enjoyed. You never knew what you could run across in an old journal that could help you in future endeavors. However, the site of the soaked books chilled her to the bone. She held her wand at them with a daring look and said the spell. Within seconds they were dry, but she was afraid to open one and see if the writing had washed away. Picking up her latest journal she opened it and a smile washed over her face. The writing was intact. A little blurry, but it would be fine.
Anne flipped through the other books and was glad to see that only a few entries had been ruined partially. She stacked them back together and headed up the stairs. She wanted to continue flipping through her old entries without too much of an interruption and that only left the student lounge. Though, now that it was pouring outside the lounge would probably be completely full. But maybe she would get lucky and find somewhere to sit inside. The door to the lounge was standing open when Anne reached it. Walking inside she was relieved to find that most students had ended up in their common room as opposed to the student lounge. She held herself upright in her dance stance as she made her way to the back of the room to a table near the window. The soft patter of rain could be heard and she realized a window was ajar when she smelt the familiar scent of fresh rain. She smiled lightly at the smell as she placed her journals on the table and took a seat. Now where was I? Oh right, 3 April, she wondered as she pulled out the journal and flipped to the date.
