Kiana closed her eyes in pain as her brush snagged on the knots in her blonde hair. Biting her lip to hold in the scream that would undoubtedly come, she yanked it through the knot and gasped. "Note to self, never do that again." She giggled and danced over to her wardrobe, in her usual good mood. Deciding to choose randomly she closed her eyes and picked the first thing her hand came into contact with. Perfect, her favourite light blue trousers. Doing the same for her top, she pulled out a black blouse. She picked a white tank top to go under it, preferring to leave the blouse open.
She decided to leave without putting make up on and danced through the common room, twirling a first year around before leaping into the corridor. Kiana walked to the student lounge and collapsed into a fit of giggles, thinking of the incredulous looks of everyone that had seen her dancing in the common room. Still giggling, she dropped next to the fire, turning over to stare into the flames. Pulling out her sketchbook and a pencil from her bag, she twisted around to look for something to draw. Kiana's eyes flicked to the door when it opened, almost dropping her pencil in surprise, having expected everyone to be outside or in their dorms.

"I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm super, duper bored!" Kitty chanted, throwing herself on her bed. There was nothing to do, nothing to do, nothing to do! Kitty had already brushed through her hair a million times, listened to the same song over and over again, and she had went outside and watered her thirsty plants. Now she was bored, and more then half the day was left to play around! What to do? Kitty sat up real quick. She could hardly sit still for one minute without bouncing up and down. She was weird like that. Laying on her bed was only acceptable when night time was here, and night time was a big no-no right now. No nighttime! Bad! Sunlight filtered on to her head, warming her. Eh, she should get out of the common room.
She sprinted down the stairs, ran pell mell through the common room, and ran straight into a desk, jarring her knee. "Oooow!" She cried, hopping up and down. There was somebody sitting near by, a younger student she didn't know. "Did you put that there?" Kitty asked suspiciously. She watched as the girl looked up, horrified. Okay, so Kitty must be looking pretty scary now. Time to go. She hastened to the door, hoping that she wouldn't have to scare the girl anymore then she already had to.
Down the hall she went, faster and faster. All her pent up energy was showing. She hated being indoors, it was like a cage with no room to move around. She ignored the pain leaping up from her knee like the flames of fire, and barged into the Student Lounge, making a dramatic entrance. Very out of breath, she looked around the room, found someone, limped over there, and collapsed into the chair, breathing like a hippo with a hernia. "Have you ever... noticed... how long... the corridors... are?" She wheezed, curling up on the soft armchair. "It's amazing... I never noticed... bad corridors! Bad table!" She rubbed her knee ruefully, before finally noticing the girl again. "Hi, I'm Kitty Jones, Hufflepuff fourth year!" She said between breaths, giving off a huge grin.

Kiana giggled at the older girls dramatic entrance, finding it strangely hilarious. An infectious grin appeared on her face. "Yeah, the corridors are far too long. Cut the corridors!" She cried dramatically before collapsing into giggles again. "Whats this about a table?" She asked, when she could finally breathe again then saw the girl rubbing her knee. "Ah, ran into one? I'm Kia, Gryffindor third year and self-proclaimed insane person." Kia twisted around to sit up and smile at Kitty.
"So, what were you running from? The boredom of sitting down for too long or was someone actually chasing you?" She tilted her head curiously, a habit that she had picked up from her younger sister. Kia jumped up and bounced over to the window, looking out at the people below. "They look so small...like ants!" Her blue eyes widened comically. "I wonder if the ants got tired of people stepping on them and decided to make people the size of ants..."
A mischievous grin adorned her face as she bounced back over to Kitty. "Dance!" She grabbed the girl, twirling her around and letting her go before she ould protest. Kia started to spin on the spot, soon getting dizzy and collapsing back into her previous spot next to the fire. She smiled up at the three Kitty's that she could see. "So...which bobbing head is the real one?" She realised how silly that sounded and started laughing again, shaking her head to get her vision back to normal.

Kitty nodded. "Yep. Corridors long. Too long. We should take scissors to them, I agree." Kitty seriously suggested, leaning back in her chair, and slowly regaining her breath. The throbbing in her knee had become subdued, thanks to her many rubbing and massaging. "Yes, table bad. I think little firstie put it in front of me. First years are very, very suspicious. But this little one looked terrified when I asked her." Kitty frowned, thinking. "I don't think I'm that scary, am I?" She looked up when the girl introduced herself.
"Self proclaimed insane person? Now that's a new punch line." Kitty mused, with a smile crossing her face. "Originality but pretty much hitting home with the meaning. I like it." said Kitty with her usually frank words of wisdom. "Mainly from the desk. Desks have legs, just like we do. They can chase us if they want, I've seen one do it. Once, I was walking around home and..." Her eyes widened. "One came out of now where and tripped me! Bad table! I don't like tables, nope, not at all." She explained. She raised her eyebrows at exactly the same time, a feat she hadn't done for a while. "People turning into ants? That would be scary... very scary. We'd be stepped on and would have six legs... I think." Before she had time to ponder over how many legs ants had, she was hauled off her bottom and sent into a frenzy dance. Kitty's head already hurt from pounding down the corridors; this didn't help much.
"Um..." Kitty sat down quickly as she was let go. Kia spun around a few times, got dizzy apparently, and had to ask which head was the real one. Kitty poked her head with her fore-finger. "That head. This one. The one I'm poking. Prodding. Whatever." She leaned back and contemplated Kia. Strange, but Kitty had never met a girl as strange as she was. She wasn't sure if she liked it or not. "How come you were put in Gryffindor?" She asked conversationally.

Kia nodded seriously. "Oh yes, firsties bad, very bad. I was firstie once...then I grew up. Oooh, no. You're not scary. Not at all. I've seen ants scarier than you...but then again, ants can be rather scary."
"Yep, self proclaimed and insane. Thats me alright. I'm very original, theres only one of me...I think...have you seen any more of me running around?" Her eyes flicked around the room suspiciously, checking the corners for hiding people. "Walls have ears, you know. One could hear you complaining about desks and send one after you! That would be bad."
Kia leaned forward and poked Kitty's head. "Yeah, thats the real one. Its cor..corp...corporeal! Thats the word I was looking for." Her head tilted as Kitty started talking again, crossing her legs to sit indian-style. "Well, I put the sorting hat on and it said some stuff into my ear and then yelled GRYFFINDOR. It was loud, really hurt my ears." She giggled then turned slightly more serious. "I actually don't know why I'm in Gryffindor. I'm not spectacularly brave or anything like that. I'm just...me. Insane and enjoying it while it lasts. For we all must become sane one day. It comes with old age."

"Ants scary?" Kitty asked, surprised. "Creepy-crawlies cool! They have so many legs and eyes... but I don't like the hairy ones. Nope, not one bit. Did you know that each year you swallow a spider eight times at least? Yep. Especially if you sleep with your mouth open." Kitty nodded her head. "Like me. So if you ever feel like there's something sticky in your mouth, you'll know why now." She grinned. She liked to creep people out; it was fun seeing their looks of disgust or anguish over something so relevant. Then again, sometimes people avoided her for being so frank with the facts of stuff no one wanted to hear.
"Walls have ears?" She looked at the one closest uncertainly. "I never would have known. They don't look like they have ears. It's all flat and... flat." Her hands traveled up to her ears. "My ears are sticking out. How come wall's ears don't stick out like us?" She let her hands fall to her lap. "Desks don't have ears, unless they're those real expensive kind where the wood swirls out like fluffy ears! They have eyes too! Usually its just one, if they have a key hole for the main drawer. Otherwise, they just have legs and like to blunder around, bumping into random people. Or innocent people, like myself." She babbled.
"Ouch!" Kitty held the place where she had been poked and looked beseechingly at Kia. "What was that for?! I was an innocent girl. Wait... I still am. You're as bad as desks! Bad desks! Bad Kia!" Kitty smiled and shrugged, flipping back her hair with a shake of her head. "What corporeal mean?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "I'm not good with long confusing words. I only know words that I need to know. Learning too much hurts my head, and I don't like head-aches, no siree!" She smiled and shrugged. "Oh. To me you seem like more of a Huffle, but maybe you fall under the reckless category? Or maybe an over-achiever? It's okay if you are and everything, I just asking. I was put in Hufflepuff because I'm hyper, bubbly, and love to share my heart with complete strangers. At least, that's what the funny talking hat told me." She shrugged and looked down at her hands sadly. "I know some people who are still insane as an adult. Like my mum. She orders me and Jerome around and she does too much work herself. Sometimes she almost passes out. Would you call that insane, or reckless, or an over-achiever?" Kitty frowned. "I think mum would have gone in Gryffindor, and dad Hufflepuff. Jerome would be Slytherin, that meanie."

Kia nodded quickly. "Oh yes, ants bad. Creepy crawlies are very bad." She pulled a face and shuddered. "I hate them. The thought of a spider crawling down my throat makes me feel sick." She had hated spiders and creepy crawlies since she had woken up to the feeling of legs on her face and had seen a spider on her nose.
"Uh huh. Walls have ears. They can hide them though so we never know if they're listening to us." Kia cast her eyes around intently, searching for ears. "If they have ears then do they have mouths? Or eyes? A nose?" She tilted her head thoughtfully, silently debating the likelihood of walls having other body parts besides ears. A grin spread across her face. "Oh yes, desks have ears too. They have eyes as well, maybe they're related to walls somehow? "
She smiled mischievously, leaning forward to poke Kitty again. "Sorry." She frowned when Kitty compared her to a desk. "Hey! I'm not a desk! I'm kind and I have two eyes, unlike those stupid desks." Kia giggled when Kitty asked what corporeal meant. "Corporeal. Adjective. Having material or physical form or substance" She recited from memory, smiling as she remembered the time that she had tried to memorise the dictionary. She had spent two days and the only word she remembered was corporeal. She shrugged. "I might be like a Hufflepuff but the Sorting Hat thought I belonged in Gryffindor and so here I am. Maybe it saw something that I don't see. I don't think I'm reckless, certainly not an over-achiever and afterall, thats more of a Ravenclaw attribute."
Kia smiled in sympathy, knowing exactly what bossy parents were like...well in her case, one bossy parent. She smiled sadly but quickly shook herself out of her reverie to answer Kitty's question. "I think it might be all three. The over-achieving part makes her work hard, the insanity stops her realising when she is too tired to work anymore and the reckless part...thats where she pushes herself until she almost passes out." She paused, her head tilting in confusion. "Jerome?"

Kitty grinned at Kiana and bounced in her seat. "You seem grossed out. Why do you have a thing against creepy-crawlies? They don't do anything to you!" She smiled and wrung her hands. "I step on lots of bugs. Accidentally, of course. Never by purpose. So you'd think they'd get tired of being stepped on and go to war! I think we'd win though, unless they become super-duper large and attacked! That would be scary. Real scary." She shrugged; "Walls and desks are both mean. Why can't walls be softer? They hurt when I bump them. Hurt bad." She rubbed her arm to prove her point. "And then there's meanie desks. They are even meaner then walls! They come out of no where and get in your way! No fair." She pouted, pointing at her knee ruefully. She thought she had made her point.
"Oh, right." Kitty smiled and said no more about Kia and desks being similar. "Um, what - ? Eh, never mind. It's all good." She grinned. "I guess you are right. Ravens really smart. Maybe too smart; very unnatural. I think they transplant books into their heads. That's how they get all their information," she said, nodding, quite convinced. "Yep, mum has some bad stuff and good too. She a Gryffie through-and-through, but she doesn't want to come to Hogwarts. She likes being a muggle, 'cause she says being a witch would make life too easy." Kitty shrugged. "Don't know what that means. Really weird. Oh, Jerome? He's my younger brother by two years. Very much an insensitive twerp that likes to call me names and annoy me. He's not very nice. Don't know where he got it from, since mum is bossy and dad is funny. But like they say - nothing is perfect. Jerome is just the bad side of the apple. Bad Jerome!"

Kia laughed at the sight of Kitty bouncing up and down like a bouncing...thing. "I don't like spiders because I woke up once and a spider was sitting on my nose, staring at me. And I hate ants because when I was younger, my cousin told me that they would eat me in my sleep. I stayed awake for days after that." Kiana smiled wryly, sure she could laugh at it now but to a five year old being eaten by ants was a big thing. "We could go to war with the ants I guess." She shuddered once more and smiled, knowing that no such thing could happen but enjoying thinking about all the ways she could kill the ants. Better to kill them before they kill you, right?
"Desks are bad but walls are the worst." Kia leaned forward, like she was about to tell a big secret. ""They're all around us, walls that is. Not desks. And they wait until you least expect it and...Wham!" Kia clapped her hands together and fell backwards. She sat up and grinned, that wasn't meant to happen but she continued to make her point. "They get you. When you don't expect it. Because they're always watching. Watching and waiting."
"Personally, I think that they might be aliens. Its not natural to be that intelligent." Kia nodded seriously, equally convinced. "I think it would be hard for adults to adapt to wizarding life. They're too used to the muggle life. Besides, if she enjoys her life then theres no reason to change it." Kia chose her words carefully, suddenly serious. She wasn't a pureblood fanatic and didn't wish to come off as one. What does blood have to do with power? "I have a younger sister. She can be quite sweet at times but occasionally she acts rather like you say Jerome does. Kaelae isn't a bad kid, she's just...lonely, I guess. I can and will make my own entertainment but she either doesn't know how to or refuses to. I suppose it doesn't help that she never knew Mum but thats not my fault nor Dad's." Kia sighed, not understanding the way her sister behaved. She had tried to help her but nothing seemed to work. "Is your brother magical too?" She asked, always curious about everything.
