Meyghan sat in the lounge in a small corner by herself. She had been really depressed lately but with no one to talk to about it. Meyghan hadn't had much luck at making friends so far this year. This was her fifth year here, and every year she had tried to make new friends, but had no luck. She was a nice girl, and never rude to anyone. She was starting to think that there was something physically wrong with her that was stopping everyone from being her friend.
Meyghan watched as everyone around her seemed to have someone to talk to. This didn't make her feel any better. She couldn't even talk to her pygmy puff anymore. It always seemed to be asleep when she needed to talk. She thought that she could make friends with the girls in her dorm, but that hadn't even worked out right.
Meyghan pulled her knees up into her chest, as she continued to watch everyone. Suddenly she began to silently sniffle. Meyghan wasn't much of a crier, but she suddenly felt so lonely. She was starting to wish she were home again. At least, home meant that her dad was there and she could always talk to her dad.
Wiping a tear off of her cheek, she looked around once more.

The fall wind blew through the November air and rustled his red-orange hair that peeked out from underneath his tweed hat. Perhaps his favorite part of the fall was simply the weather, and the fact it was now old enough to wear his hat, which he got when he was a third year and wore every year since. While he liked the cool weather though, there was a point when one simply wanted to get back and into the warm. It was for that reason that he made his way back inside and in the student lounge. He wasn't sure if anyone he knew was here at the moment, but it never hurt to check.
As he glanced around he saw a girl whom he didn't really know, all huddled up in the corner with her knees pulled to her chest. She looked rather upset from where he was standing. Never being the type to like to see anyone unhappy he pushed his way forward and headed toward her, staying quiet until he stood but a meter away. He then moved so that his back rested against the wall and slid down so that he say on the floor "Hey, whats wrong?"

Looking around for the voice, Meyghan noticed that the older boy had been talking to her. " Just a little depressed. I haven't had much luck making friends, and I'm wondering if people see some defect in me that I didn't know I had." She said a little unsure of herself.
Meyghan didn't talk much to others, but she wanted a friend, and someone to talk too. She had met a few people, but none were close enough to actually call friends. Meyghan gently wiped another tear from her cheek, and tried to make herself stop crying.
" Hi, I'm Meyghan, by the way." She said thinking it was probably the lamest thing she could have chose to say at that time.

He gave the girl who introduced herself as Meyghan an easy going smile. He hated to see anyone upset, especially when there wasn't a need for it. She may have thought that something was wrong with who she was, but that was never the case. "Well, I don't see anything wrong with you from here, and if it was glaring enough for people to really notice I think I would be well aware of it by now." He smiled again, his eyebrows raising for a moment. Something that always happened when he wasn't saying everything he was thinking. "I'm Payton Moore, and its a pleasure to meet you. Now look, were already on the right track for forming a friendship. It starts by exchanging names, and then you learn something about the other. So lets give that a try, ay? Tell me something about yourself."

Meyghan gave a slight smile when Payton commented about there not being anything wrong with her. She was glad to have someone to talk to, she really needed to make friends.
" There's not a lot to tell, I'm a fifth year Ravenclaw." She said softly. Meyghan didn't always like to speak loudly. It made her think that everyone in the room could hear her if she spoke too loudly. She was trying not to be shy but for some reason it seemed hard. She looked up at Payton, and smiled. She found it hard to believe that she was talking to anyone, especially a boy. She rarely ever talked to any of the boys in school.

He smiled when she said that there wasn't much to tell. He was sure there was much more to tell than she was letting on. He leaned his head back against the wall, and glanced over at her again. "I bet there is a lot to tell, and besides, you doing great so far. Year and house are always a good place to start. I'm a 7th year Hufflepuff myself." He smiled again, reaching over and giving her a nudge with his elbow. "Now, for to keep along the friendly path, you need to ask a question. Like...about family or where they come from. I live in London, and come from a rather large family, On the older side of the middle of 11 kids. How about yourself?"

Meyghan giggled a little when Payton answered the question that he had suggested that she ask him. “I have a younger brother, and my family lives in Cornwall. We have a large brick home that is somewhat secluded.” She replied to his question. Meyghan thought Payton was very sweet, and kind. She had never had just anyone walk up to her and start talking to her the way he was doing. Meyghan had a tendency to be very flirty but she was determined to try her best not to be. She needed a friend, and flirting was not the best way to make friends.
“You seem to be very good at this whole friend-making process. I have to admit it’s something that I have never been really well at. I usually can’t find the words to say hello to someone. So umm.. let me think a moment. I know your name, house, year, and if you have any siblings, and where you live. So what’s next? What do you like to do in your spare time? Would that be the best thing to ask next or is that a little too direct?” Meyghan realized that she might seem like she was babbling. She giggled slightly and then got quiet. She didn’t want Payton to notice if her nature over rode what she wanted to happen. She knew she tended to be very flirty by nature.
((sorry it's so short. I'm running low on inspirations))

He grinned when she answered his question after he did, and nodded as he took it all in. She was doing just fine at this making friends thing, even if she seemed to think she wasn't. "Secluded huh? Must be nice some of the time. I live right in the middle of the city, about a muggle bookstore." He grinned again, his eyebrows raising as he did--a sure sign he was thinking of something other than what he was saying.
He shrugged at her compliment about his friend making abilities. He never did find making friends hard, but then all it took was talking to people, and he always did do that rather well. "I think thats a very good next question. Since you now house, year family and location its time to figure out if you have an common interests. I enjoy charms quite a bit, and for more muggle activities, I like to cook. Its what I hope to do after I graduate."

Meyghan smiled when Payton told her that she was headed down the right path with her next question. She was hoping that she would actually succeed at the whole friend making process. She would need the skills at any given time, making friends was something highly important.
" I enjoy charms as well, and I guess you could consider Painting as my muggle hobby." Meyghan found considering painting a muggle hobby a bit odd. She was a pure blood and had never really considered that painting was a muggle hobby, but just a hobby in general. " I don't cook very often, but I have made dinner before." She said thinking back to the one time she had made a muggle food called pizza for her father.
