The day, compared to the others in the week, was fairly warm. The icicles which had set onto Kiani’s dorm window through the night were melting slowly and only a few wheelbarrows of snow could be seen here and there. Smiling at her cat Kia, Kiani slowly, tiredly stepped out of her four-poster bed and looked around the room. She was up fairly late and apart from two cats, no-one could be seen in the Slytherin dormitory. Sticking her feet into her white furry slippers and rising to stand, Kiani began the first move of her daily routine for getting ready. First she took one, long hot shower with tons of gorgeous lavender smells and bubbles, then dried herself with her special soft, white towels. Once dry s he would wander over to her wardrobe and choose her clothes, and set her Slytherin robe on-top. She often didn’t wear the robe on Saturdays unless it was quite cold but she felt like it today, though no reason for it. Beneath the robe this particular Saturday, she wore a long green silk skirt and a pure white top, ending in her elbows and mostly hidden by a small black jacket. Once the robe was neatly set on her shoulders, Kiani would always head over to her small Dressing Table and apply her make-up and jewellery. She chose some simple black mascara and liner, pale shadow and a little bit of blusher on her slightly tanned cheeks. Once this was completed she pulled from a little mahogany rack a beautiful emerald necklace with matching earrings and a silver, thick bracelet which she slipped easily onto her slender wrists.
After her dressing she headed towards the Student Lounge, a place she often enjoyed going for no obvious reason. She brought her book, Under The Skin, and after glancing around the fairly busy Lounge she saw a small white chair in the corner of the room, beside an equally small fire and a similar size window where she could watch the ice upon the sill melting. Unlikely! Kiani thought to herself as she noticed not a single ice slab on the sill. It would have been boring anyway, she realised. Like watching paint dry- watching ice melt. Why had she even thought of it?
Smiling at her own stupidity Kiani sat on the chair, sighing happily as it seemed to swallow her whole in a cover of white plush. Opening her book and turning to a page about halfway, she began to read. The book had been given to her by her old friend, a boy who attended Durmstrang. She had heard many tales of the school and believed from what she had been told that it was far better than Hogwarts, and her friend had given her the book from the school library for her birthday. As she began to turn the current page she stopped, looking up. A shadow had appeared on the page and she was sure no-one had noticed her arrival into the lounge, and the corner she was sitting in was quite far from any other people.
