Kennedy walked into the student lounge and peered around for a place to sit. Noticing an empty chair in the corner by a window, he rushed over. He threw his winter robe onto the chair carelessly and reached into his pocket, retrieving a small wrapped package. The package had the words 'To: Kennedy, From: Uncle Kirk' written in gold ink on the paper. Excitedly, Kennedy unwrapped the package to see what was inside. He knew that a gift from Uncle Kirk was always a memorable experience. Carefully examining the box, he noticed a silver inscription on the deep blue color of the box. Kennedy read the note silently to himself.
If a laugh is what you are looking for, Then stop your searching and look no more. For humor I will willingly provide, Just point me to whom I am to deride. Be careful though, for this I fear That bitter truth is all you will hear.
Confused, Kennedy opened the box to examine the contents. The sole item inside was a round, emerald shaped stone-like object. Taking a closer look, Kennedy saw an engraved arrow at one end and a set of lips in the center. He held the stone in his hand just as he heard a noise. Quickly, he closed his fingers around the object and hid his hand behind his back. He looked up to see somebody walking his way. Grabbing the box, he hurriedly placed the stone back inside and then covered it up with his robe.

A bit irritated that the girl was bothering him, Kennedy gave a brief look of disgust. This look however was quickly extinguished when he began to see the options laid before him. After his brief examination of the talisman and from his understanding of the short poem, Kennedy assumed that the object would simply insult whomever it was direct at. Since Kennedy recognized the girl as a Gryffindor, or at least he assumed, he figured this may be interesting.
"I'm Kennedy," he said habitually, ignoring the idea of telling which house or year he was in, as introductions were the least of his concerns. "Sure, sit down," he rambled. I want to show you something." Kennedy pulled the box back out from under his robe and opened it. He held out the stone, prompting the girl to take it. He decided that if it was as he had thought, it would be best to test it on somebody else before using it himself.

The girl about to walk away, came back reluctantly as Kennedy revealed what he had been hiding. He sensed suspicion in her remark, but he knew that his clever persuasion would have her holding the stone in no time. His choice of words rarely failed to get him something he wanted or to have someone do something for him. There were the times when his demands were quite unrealistic, but he knew the task of getting the girl to hold the stone would be one of the easier jobs for his persuasion skills. "This silly thing?" he asked jovially. "It's just a stone that I got from my uncle. It is supposed to tell you something useful about yourself," he lied, "but I was unable to figure out how to make it work. Maybe you are a little brighter than me, and you would be kind enough to see if you can figure out how it works." Kennedy gave a fake smile and put on his best 'trust me' face. Unless this girl was a mind reader, there was no way she could see past his sly scheme. His eyes sparkled as he could barely wait to hear what the stone would say to the girl, provided that it worked and really did what Kennedy assumed it would do. He waited kindly for her to take it from him.

Kennedy kept his false demeanor, trying so hard to get the girl to feel welcome. He began to worry as she seemed reluctant, but just then she finally decided to grab the stone. Kennedy watched anxiously, awaiting to see the stone in action. He noticed the girl's face had a relieved look, almost as though she was expecting something bad to happen. And then, it did.
The engraved set of lips started to move, and Kennedy stared in amazement as he listened to what the rock had to say.
'A skinny girl, we have here today, Give me some time, to decide what to say. I could tell of her laziness; sloth is a sin I could tell of her temper; either way is a win. But I think I'll tell of her deepest kept secret, She is holding me now, but soon she'll regret. What I will tell you, I assure that it's true, But it's also something she doesn't want me to tell you. Dear Alarice here is fickle, the boys that she likes, Are, might I say it, mostly the Slytherin type.'
The lips on the stone stopped moving and went back to their original state. Kennedy let out a small chuckle. In a way, he expected something of the sort, but he didn't expect it to be so funny. The best part was that he knew that Alarice would be devastated if anybody found out she was partial to Slytherin boys, being that she was in Gryffindor. Half expecting to be slapped, as it wouldn't be the first time a Gryffindor female gave him what he deserved, Kennedy stepped back and with a smile, observed the girl to see how she would respond.

Utter delight filled Kennedy's mind. He reminded himself to send Uncle Kirk a thank you owl as soon as he could. This gift was definitely a keeper. Alarice had played right into his trap and he couldn't wait to get others. Knowing things about people that they kept to themselves could surely prove useful. He however had to keep the stone a secret. He couldn't afford the its power be revealed to others. For this reason, he figured he must keep the secret about Alarice, but not without a little fun first.
Kennedy watched as she reached for what he assumed was her wand. "I know you wouldn't do anything to me," Kennedy snapped. "Why you probably like me for all I know," he said with a chuckle. "After all, I am in Slytherin, so I must be your type." Kennedy was enjoying this all to well. He only wished he could tell everybody, but that would have to wait until the knowledge of the stone was full circle. Only then could he risk telling of its amazing abilities. "If you weren't a filthy Gryffindor, I might consider, but I guess you will just have to continue dreaming because you aren't getting this Slytherin pure-blood." Kennedy could hardly refrain from the fun he was having. He reached toward Alarice and snatched the stone from her hand. "I'll take this back," he snarled. "Oh and by the way, thanks for your help- couldn't have made it work without you." He gave a fake grin as he put the stone back in the box and tucked it safely in his pocket.

Kennedy let out a sigh. "It's a pity. I would have like to have seen you try to hit me with a spell," Kennedy said arrogantly. "Apparently you are too sloppy that you got caught so many times, but it doesn't surprise me one bit. I wouldn't expect anything more out of a filthy Gryffindor."
"As far as being a dark artifact, I'd like to see you try and prove it. First of all, it merely talks. How can something that talks be considered dark. And second, by the time you tell Dumbledore, I will have it hidden so that only I know where to find it. Plus," he added looking around the empty room, "doesn't look like anybody was around to see." Kennedy's eyes were like stone as he glared at Alarice. "So go ahead, tell Dumbledore."
Kennedy felt a sense of victory. He had won this argument, or at least in his opinion he had won. However, he expected Alarice to offer a defense. He didn't care though. He knew she had nothing to hold against him besides pure spite. This made him smile.

Kennedy listened as Alarice went on as she threw out a couple of names and some comments. Kennedy could tell she was just saying whatever she could think of, and he knew she was running out of steam. He laughed to himself inside all the while she rambled on. "Done?" he said with a small yawn when Alarice finished. "Good," he added immediately, not giving her a chance to respond. "Now if you'll excuse me, I believe my work here is done," he said as he gathered his robe and belongings. Kennedy walked past the girl and he left the student lounge.
Walking down the hall, he instantly began thinking of who, where, and when he would use the stone again. The ideas seemed endless as he played the many possibilities out in his mind. Kennedy headed to the owlery where he found an unoccupied owl and began scrawling a thank-you note to his Uncle Kirk on a piece of spare parchment.
Dear Uncle Kirk, Thank you so much for the stone you sent me in the mail. It is amazing. My first victim was this dreadful Gryffindor girl. When she grabbed the stone, it told a rhyme in which it revealed that she likes boys who are in Slytherin. Her reaction was priceless. Well, I just wanted to thank you and let you know I got the gift. I plan to use it much more in the future, and I can't wait to see what you send me next. Take care! Your favorite nephew, Kennedy
((OOC: I think this post is done, unless you wish to post something in addition. However, I think that the only potential it has left is to turn into a verbal spar (unless we use magic- but that may turn out badly), but I think we have already exhausted that possibility. It was fun, and once again thank you for your good sportsmanlike attitude ;D))
