That morning Leon had got up late, had a rushed breakfast, then had run straight to the lounge to watch them. He sat in the corner table right beside a window. From ther, he looked out onto the window ledge, to watch his find. It was a tiny little birdnest, no bigger than his palm. It was made of twigs and straw, bits of grass and leaves. A sock was tucked away in it, red with blue spots. Inside the nest were five little chicks, born just yesterday. The mother hadn't shown her face since yesterday, and he was beginning to get worried about them so began to feed them himself.
Leon smiled, opened the window a crack, and slipped them some worms from the lake. He had been feeding them since he saw them hatch and they were the only thing, other than quidditch and classes, that made him happy. He continued to watch them with interest, carefully slipping a worm at a time through the window. He had watched them with wonder as they hatched, watched as two of them died as they came out, then continued to feed the others. Finishing the worms, they looked up at him expectantly.

It was early in the morning and Alyson was up. She had decided to skip breakfast and just have a coffee in the student lounge. The morning rountine was going longer than it should have this morning. Alyson suspected it had to do with her fixing her hair. The soft honey blonde hair that was ussaly in waves sat on her shoulder straight. She had put a non-tangle charmed on it so she wouldn't have to fuss with having to straighten it every five minutes or so. Since it was a saturday Alyson decided to were a blue top that read Ravenclaws aren't genuises their just smarter than you are. Alyson than left to go to the student lounge.
Sitting in one of the big arm chairs Alyson read a british novel. She wanted to be able to blend with the muggles even if that meant reading their books. Her eyes drifted to the window where boy sat. He was feeding some chicks Alyson jumped up with out warning and went over there. " Don't feed them. Their mother won't come back if she smells you scent." Alyson said in a cold voice.

Closing the window with a soft bang, Leon continued to watch the little birds. They hadn't even began to grow true feathers yet, and their chirps couldn't be heard through the window glass. Smiling at them, Leon jumped as a voice hammered through his thoughts. Though it was a Saturday, Leon guessed the girl who spoke to be in Ravenclaw by the text on her top. He laughed at it, thinking it true. Then he listened to her. His eyes widened as she told him the mother wouldn't come back. Apologetically, he answered.
"Really? Oh no! I didn't know that...i thought i was helping them! I haven't seen the mother for twenty-four hours, i thought they might starve."
Leon looked sorrowfully at the helpless chicks, then back at the girl. She had long straight blonde hair, which was very shiny.
"Do you think they'll be ok? And i like your top by the way." He hoped it didn't sound like he was sucking up to her, he really did like the top.

" You"ll have to bring the chicks with you. The mother is gone. She has smelled you and now her babies are yours." Alyson said simply eyeing the guy. She guessed he was about her age maybe in her house. Yes most defently she had seen him in a few lessons. Classes being the furtherest thing from her mind. With finding out about her grandfather to dealing with her mom she had had barely anytime with her school work. She was glad she was one of the ones that could do homework right before class. It was simply a gift.
Her thoughts were inturpteed by the boys voice. " They'll be o.k. You might have to take them in and teach them to fly your self. Maybe go by broom. Or train them to carry mail I guess. But the will be o.k." Alyson said as she also toke in the complement. " Oh I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Would you like to jion me for coffee or something. All I have to do is read a boring novel about a cat. So..." She asked. " Oh and I'm Alyson Wekki." She added.

Leon grinned at the girl. "Take them in? That would be fun...i could easily find food for them, and there's a small window with a sill by my four-poster for them..." Leon rattled on, making plans for his new chicks. Then he looked up, almost forgetting the girl.
"Shall i take them now? Maybe later, after lunch would be best, then i could get some more worms. And sure, i'd love to get a drink with you Alyson. My name is Leon Harrow- i'm Ravenclaw too, third year. Where would you like to go?" He was glad she had suggested it.

Alyson consider his question. " Taking them wiht you after lunch would be fine." Alyson said smiling. " Anyways as I was saying we could have coffee." Alyson said as she walked balked to her lounge chair were the novel sat almost untouched. Alyson knew better. She twirled her wand and two cups appeard. Alyson had the same thing every morning. A cup of coffee. Well not really coffee a latte. The two cups were on a silver tray. The intales A.N.W she had gotten it from her grandmother who was a Wekki woman and believed since before she was born every lady was brought up young. Every week her grandmother gave her lessons. Alyson new now how important those things were.
Sitting down she made the tray sit on a coffee table a few feet from her chair. It landed with a soft tink. She toke a sip of the warm substance and thought about her early years. Everything the had told her had been training for this. Alyson smiled a wicked little smile. As she thought about her father. What he think now? His so-called 'only' daughter was taking his place.

With awe, Leon watched as Alyson got the coffee cups that easily.
"Wow, thats must have taken time to learn!" Guessing the second cup was for him, Leon took it, marvelling at the pattern. "These are beautiful, i love the pattern. Do you like art?"
Although the subject was a random change, Leon loved art and wanted to see if Alyson did too. The cups were very nice, and Leon could easily tell they were precious. Grinning, he sipped at the coffee, taking it milky.

Alyson grinned when Leon watched in awe as she made the tray appear. " Not at all. You see my grandmother thought all the Wekki woman should know how to do this kind of stuff young. She thought me all my beauty spells. As well as easy household charms. I've known this charm forever. Its really simply if you would like to know how I could bring my book." Alyson replied modestly.
She thought about how to pharse her next anwser. " Not art really. Theatre I like more. I'm really into lituriture. I read alot. Not a bookworm yet. Yet being the opertive word." Alyson replied.
Alyson set her cup on the tray and looked out the window. The sun was streaming in playing tag with the particals that just hung there. She sighed thinking of the letter she had recieved from her driver at home.

Leon smiled again as he saw how proud Alyson really was about her cups. "That's quite a good thing to learn really, i'd say. And literature? Interesting! I i love to draw, still-life sketches mainly. Maybe i could show you sometime."
With another hopeful grin, Leon caught the wistful gaze on Alyson's pretty face. Although he knew it was none of his business really, he politley asked her what was wrong, trying not to seem nosey. Alyson was a nice girl and Leon didn't want her to think he was annoying her.

Leon asked what was wrong. " Nothing important. its my mother at home. With my father dead , and my grandmother , dad's mom , bugging the hell out her she's worried about me. Whatever. She never really wanted a duaghter. Or two in that." Alyson said bitterly.
Putting her smile on she looked at Leon. " Doesn't really matter to me." She said. " She never acted like a mother anyways." She said looking at thefire which kept burning. Sorta like her grudge against her parents.

As Leon watched Alyson's face, he couldn't work out her expression. It looked worried, a little scared and marginally it showed some pity. FOr what Leon didn't know, but he tried to cheer her up with news about his own terrible family. "Yeah- my dad is the same. I love to draw, absoloutley adore it, and he just can't handle it."

" Thats teribble." Alyson said looking at Leon once again. " At least ya'll communicate. I baberly knew my parents. They built magical cities going from one country to another. My mom didn't even stop working wi'll she was pregant. She was with me for three monthes after I was born and the rest of the time I stay with my grandfather at his Mansion." Alyson said as she rembered her younger years. Why weighted the descion to tell Leon about Taylor. " Actully my twin and I were with my grandfather. When we turned two my dad and my grandfather had a heated argument. It ended with my twin being put up for adoption." Alyson's lip quivered before a tear raced down her delicate face.
Turning away so Leon couldn't see more tears escaping at rapid paste. Turning back she once again found her strengh. " Worst part was. I didn't even know till this summer." Alyson said. This time not hiding her tears.

Leon froze as Alyson went on. He was really, really bad at sympathetic acts. Not just bad, but terrible. So naturally, as Alyson talked about her twin being put up for adoption, Leon didn't really know what to say. And, as a tear ran down Alyson's face, Leon still wasn't sure what to say. So after a long silence when Alsyon had turned away from Leon, he spoke in what he believed to be a soothing voice.
"You-you've been through a lot." Then he broke. "Sorry- i'm not good at this. Do you remember him? No, of course not you were two. Erm..." Leon thought for a moment, then smiled. "Are you pure blood?"

'' Well Yes and no. I do rember things. Only I see it from my head from a diffrent angle. As I was witnessing it not experincing it. It was a her. Her name is Taylor Catherine Wekki. Her new last name is P-peo. Something like that." Alyson said weping her face dry with a lace napkin.
" Yes I am a purebood. Lingage they call it when you've been a pureblood like that. So is she with her new family. She has to be at school. Here I mean." Alyson told leon who was sitting there. She couldn't believe anyone could be so patient.

Leon smiled sympathetically. He tried not to look embarrassed as he got the genders mixed up, and apologized politley. After he did so, his bright eyes widened considerably. If Taylor was at the school, then why didn't Alyson meet her? He voiced his thoughts, trying not to sound to nosy. He would hate it if his twin had to go away, though he didn't actually have one. After asking the question, Leon lookeda t Alyson.
"I sort of understand how you feel. My little sister should be here now, but she is...ill at home. Should have joined the sorting this year, but she can barely ge out of bed. And since i am staying ehre for christmas i won't get to see her...but its for my parents. They'll have too much to do with me there too." Leon smiled at the thought. His parents hardly ever even knew he was alive, even when he was there. He patted Alyson's shoulder awkwardly.

Alyson sat paitentley as if she had never had cried. " Well I didn't find out about Taylor until this summer. She obviosley is in another house and I probley never paid attention to this kind of stuff." Alyson said. She looked out the window. The birds nest set calmly on a branch. The sun hit Alyson's face showing her smile. It brightned as the sun before she had arrived at the lounge. Just like her smile the sun was shining now.
She listened to Leon go on. Her smile faded and was replaced by her eyes showing pain. " Thats so sad. If you don't mind me asking. Whats wrong with her? I mean her medical problem." Alyson said slowely not wanting to provoke the Ravenclaw boy.

Leon watched Alyson question further. Nodding and taking a glance at the bright sun outside, Leon answered clearly, without cracking. Although he did sound a little like a robot, as he had said the speech so many times to all the people who stared at him pitifully.
"I can't exactly remember what it is called, but about every other year she falls terribly ill. It's no where near a deadly thing, but it still keeps her in bed all the time and she can't come here."
Flicking some light blonde hair from his eyes, Leon smiled a little. Slightly- only slightly, his sister was beginning to improve with her illness, though it would be a long time till she could have four full years.
