Drake slowly entered the common room after muttering the password at the entrance. It had been a long day for him. In a way he was tired, but all that was going through his mind was what he read in the book in the library.
He thought he needed some time to himself. He climbed the stairs to his dorm and opened the curtains to his bed. He then removed his daytime clothes and put on his nighttime garments. He sat on his bed and removed a piece of parchment from his bag. He also took out his double tipped quill and a bottle of black ink.
He began to write:
Father,
I know that this is not the best time to be writing you. I hope that you and mother are having a nice time working. I do however have a favor to ask you. I need you to locate and purchase something for me. I need you to buy 2 banshee hairs and two bottles of banshee voice. It may cost quite a bit of money, but you owe me.
I love you, and tell mother I love her too.
Drake
Drake folded the letter and rolled it up inside of a small pouch. He looked around the quarters to see if anyone else had entered the dorm, and to all avail, they had not. He walked over to the window and opened it with little difficulty. He then cleared his throat and began to sing:
I wish, more than anything, more than the moon.
He then repeated that little section of song he had learned from his mother years earlier. A few minutes later a tall Great Horned Owl landed on the windowsill and extended it leg. Drake quickly tied the letter to the owl’s leg. He walked over to his trunk, pulled out an owl treat, walked back to the windowsill, and fed the treat to Charisma. With a flap of her wings she was off and Drake expected her back by late night tomorrow.
