Dear Mum and Dad, I am sure you have heard about the back of the train attack by now. I just wanted to let you know, I'm fine. However, I was in the back of the train during the attack and got a couple of scrapes. A piece of glass severely cut my leg, but Madam Pomfrey healed it. I also have a medium sized cut on my face. It was quite red at first, but it's less noticeable now. I'm sorry this letter took so long. I haven't been feeling well lately with the Hufflepuff dying and all. I'm sure you heard that a Hufflepuff named Laura Pennington died along with an auror. This year I will try and stay out of trouble, but I cant promise anything!
Love your daughter, Maryn

Dear Maryn, Why on earth did you sit in the back of the train? We taught you better than that! You know perfectly well how your father and I feel about Death Eaters! This year I want you to walk around with your friends all the time, don't sneak out of you dorm at night, and work hard on you Defense Against the Dark Arts spells. If you ever come across a Death Eater, I want you to know how to protect yourself. You came very close to encountering one that day! Do not go or do anything that makes you vulnerable. Do you hear me? Now, as I said stay by your friends. Especially Piper and your other Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw friends. You know we trust those houses the most. How you ever got in Gryffindor is beyond me! We're glad to hear you weren't hurt too badly, but make sure that cut doesn't get infected. Stay safe.
Love, mum

Dear Maryn, I'm sure you've gotten your mother's owl by now. I know she may seem a bit extreme, but you know it's for your safety. Now, listen to every rule she gave you. If we find out you broke one she will demand for me to pull you out of Hogwarts. You know her, she would rather you be in a muggle school. It's a lot safer. As for the cut on your face, don't let it get infected as she said. I know infected cuts aren't fun to deal with. Piper's parents also told you to stay near Piper. With her loyalty and your, ahem, bravery you will be safer. Remember what we told you.
Love, Dad

Dear Mum and Dad, I got both of your letters and I will follow your rules. Mum, you know why I got into Gryffindor. I tried to help them, well I don't want to talk about that right now. Sure, i'll stay near Piper. My cut is looking much better. People can barely tell it's there. Going on to a more cheerful subject, today was the first class. I had charms, which I quite enjoyed. Don't worry mom, I will practice every night like you always say. Just because I'm not in Ravenclaw doesn't mean I don't study and make decent grades. Oh, by the way I think Morgen has a broken toe. Mom, you know how to deal with owls. Please help her. I love you both.
Your daughter, Maryn
