Your father wanted me to send you this news. Sorry it had to come so early in your year at Hogwarts. It seems that Aunt May will be moved to the long term resident ward in St. Mungos. The curse that has been placed on her seems to be deteriorating her nervous system. She's begun to revert back to acting like she's 10 years old and then the next minute she's back to normal. They can't seem to find the reason for it or the cure. They said she'll be like that for the rest of her life. I know you two were close and I'm sorry that this has happened. Honey, if you need to talk just send me a reply the way you do; the owl thing. I'll keep you updated on Aunt May. Honey, I love you.

Honey, your father and I have been talking. We've decided it would be better if you didn't come see Aunt May anytime soon. She's getting worse. She isn't even talking sensibly anymore. She keeps talking about things that happen twenty years ago. Honey, I don't think we'll ever get her back. The healers are quite perplexed. They don't know what spell was used or if it was even a spell at all. They can't help her anymore. She's just going to be like that forever. I'm sorry, Honey. I wish there was something I could do to make you realize that it's not your fault. I know you blame yourself for not staying with her while you were at Diagon Alley, but if you had then maybe you'd be in St. Mungo's too. Your father has been working day and night at the Ministry. I'm getting so worried about him. He hasn't been eating nearly enough. He's so worried about you, we all are. After the last attack on the Hogwarts Express, especially. When we heard about that girl we both panicked, please be careful. And don't go walking the corridors at night. Yes, Aunt May told me about your nights of wandering through the castle.
