birthday shopping (anyone)

Sarah was so stressed out from doing her potions homework . She was in her pajamas in the Gryffindor common room. Her silver watch said 11:00 am. She needed to get to Hogsmeade. Sarah got dressed in her good denim blue jeans and black and red sweater.

She got her shoes on and walked into the Great Hall. She saw Slytherins everywhere. After being harassed by 7th year Slytherins she got out of the Great Hall and went to Hogsmeade. Sarah's big sister's birthday was this Monday. " Oh my gosh.. I barley know what 15 year old girls like. All I know is that they're interested in cute boys, which I understand.'' Sarah said in a disappointed way.

Sarah went in The Three Broomsticks. She was looking at the most handsome boy in Hogsmeade.He had glittering blue eyes, shiny brown hair and a very muscular body. '' Dang.. this stuff is good.'' Sarah said taking her eyes off the boy and looking at her chair. '' Hopefully I could get some help from someone.'' Sarah said with a sigh of disappointment.

[Kia Brightstar]

Kiana french-braided her blonde hair slowly, her eyes flicking to the red ribbons on her bed and debating whether or not to add them. She shrugged and grabbed one, twining it into her braid and spinning around to see the effect. The red of the ribbon stood out from her light blonde hair and Kia grinned in silent approval. Today, third years and up could go to Hogsmeade and Kia planned on taking full advantage of it. The thought of warm butterbeer and maybe a visit to Catalina's Cubby quickened her steps down to the Entrance Hall.

Once in Hogsmeade, Kia waved to some students that she recognized but her gaze was caught by a girl who looked the same age as Kia. She vaguely recognized her as a fellow third year Gryffindor, Sarah. The girl disappeared into the crowd and Kia shrugged, turning to enter The Three Broomsticks. The temptation of the butterbeer she had promised herself was too great to resist and she ordered one before turning her attention to the room. Kia scanned the room for a seat and moved over to the nearest table. The table was occupied by her dorm mate, Sarah, and Kia smiled at her warmly. "Hey Sarah, do you mind if I sit here? And what do you need help with, if you don't mind me asking?"

While Sarah was drinking her butterbeer , she recognized a familiar voice coming from behind her. She turned around and saw Kiana ,a dorm mate. " Hi Kia! Grab a seat because we need to figure out what a 15 year old girl will like as a birthday present." Sarah said so suddenly. " Do you know what your wearing to Beltane? If you don't have something to wear , we can also go shopping for that to." Sarah quickly, even though she wasn't in a rush. ''Why am I talking so quickly now? ''Sarah asked herself in her mind.


''Oh no ... I must be talking like this because if the crush I have on that boy over there.'' Sarah thought to herself. ''Hey Kia , you see that boy over there with the brown eyes and blonde hair that looks like he's been working out? Do you think.. he's cute?'' Sarah asked so slowly that you would barely have enough patience to litsten to.

[Kia Brightstar]

"Hey, Sarah. How are you?" Kia greeted her dorm mate and sat down, flipping her blonde hair away from her face. Sometimes having long hair could get so annoying, even when its tied back it escapes and hovers around the face. "Fifteen year old girl? Ah, your sister?" Kia raised an eyebrow questioningly, guessing thast the girl in question was Sarah's older sister but not certain. "I guess that she would like mostly the same things as us. Make-up, clothes...boys." Kia smirked at Sarah knowingly, following her gaze to the boy standing across the room. "But yes, I know what I'm going to wear to Beltane. I brought a dress in the hopes that Hogwarts would be celebrating Beltane and decided that the dress could be used for another event if we didn't celebrate Beltane. I suppose that you havem't got a dress and we have to go shopping for that too?" Kia teased her dorm mate and laughed, suspecting that the two would be shopping for more than just a birthday present.

Kia surveyed the boy critically, taking note of his clothes and posture. A slight, smug smile appeared on her face as she realised that she had been right; Sarah had been watching that boy. "He's not unattractive, I'll give him that. But he has no posture to speak of and his clothes could do with a make-over." Kia turned to look at her friend and rolled her eyes, noting the rather dreamy look on Sarah's face. "If you like him then go over and talk to him. Who knows, he might invite you on a date!" Kia grinned at her impishly and raised her hand to beckon the boy over, expecting Sarah to knock her hand down before the boy caught sight of it. Still, it would fun to see the look on her face when Sarah realised that Kia was calling the boy over.

While waiting for a reply Sarah looked at the boy , then finally came an answer. '' Yeah sweet 15. she has enough clothes because she had a second closet built, she has two cabinets full of make-up, and has a boy...'' Sarah didn't finish her sentence because she noticed Kia was picking on her. Kia said his clothes was the only thing wrong, but it was true. Tie-dye shirt with black leather pants with a peace sign on them?

That's just plain 70's. '' I guess there is a major wardrobe prob... Hey!!! don't call him here!!!'' Sarah said so quickly it was almost a slur. Sarah smacked Kia's hand down as quickly as she could. '' Now ... I do need to get a birthday present ..uhh right now. Let's get going!! '' Sarah said before Kai could actually call him over again.

Kia nodded calmly, completely unfazed by the idea of two closets full of clothes. It was usual for a teenage girl, she herself had two closets of clothes, both muggle and witch. "She has a boyfriend? Muggle or wizard?" Kia allowed her curiosity to overcome her, forgetting about their quest for a birthday present in her interest. She only had one younger sister so the idea of an older sister intrigued her. With Kaelae, Kia had to look after her all the time, give her advice and comfort her. If Kia had had an older sister than maybe someone could do those things for her rather than the other way around.

Kia wrinkled her nose at the boys clothes. How completely uncouth. A wizard in such ugly clothes. Didn't he have a girlfriend or sister to advise him about his wardrobe? Kia chuckled as Sarah knocked her hand down and rubbed her elbow gently. That table was really hard, especially when hit with an elbow. "Oh come on Sarah. Live a little." Kia winked at her friend impishly and waved the boy over determinedly. If her friend was interested then Kia would make sure that Sarah had the chance to talk to him. "The dress can wait, we have hours here yet!" Kia hissed to the words to her friend before the boy came over.

"You wanted something?" The boy raised an eyebrow, obviously amused. Kia smiled at him warmly, twisting a piece of hair around her finger flirtatiously. Sure, Sarah liked him but that didn't mean that Kia couldn't get him talking and then just watch them flirt. It was a good thing to do for her friend, her good deed for the day! "I'm Kia and this is Sarah. Want to buy us a drink? We both drink butterbeer." Kia smirked at him, already knowing that he would obey. The boy nodded his head slightly obediently. "I'm Aiden. Nice to meet you Kia, Sarah." He chuckled and disappeared into the crowd for a few minutes to get their drinks. "Well?" Kia turned to Sarah questioningly, silently asking if she liked him or if Kia had wasted her time.

Aiden returned after a few minutes, carrying three butterbeers. He set two of them down on the table and lifted one to his mouth, drinking half the glass in one swallow. "Happy now, you two? May I sit?" He sat without waiting for an answer and Kia raised an eyebrow indignantly. He could have at least waited for an answer! "So, Aiden. What year are you in?" Kia smiled at him unsurely, she had hoped that he had a nice personality despite his clothes but apparently not. Still, if Sarah liked him then Kia wouldn't say anything. "Year? I don't go to Hogwarts, ladies. I graduated about four years ago." Aiden frowned at them in confusion, having assumed that the two girls were already graduated. Kia almost choked on her butterbeer, four years ago? That would make him 21! he looked at Sarah desperately, wishing that she hadn't invited the boy over and hoping for a reason to escape.

Knocking Kia's hand down was no use, the boy came over. Kia had told him to buy them a butterbeer. While he was gone Sarah whispered '' Kia !!! Why did you do that for? Well I'm going to act like a mute.''. The boy came back with three butterbeers and sat down. Oh my gosh!! He was 21!!!!!! ''Oh no, just act mute. No no take a chance.'' half of Sarah's body was saying talk, but the other was saying be quiet.

'' Oh your not in Hogwarts , eh? What's your job?'' Sarah said in a flirting way. All the sudden a thought came out her mouth.'' Why do you wear muggle clothes? Hopefully it's and experiment on how they dress right?'' Sarah covered her mouth as soon as she said that. '' I am so sorry.. uh .. you can walk away if you want.

Why did Sarah say that? Sarah got up and ran out the door and and sat on a bench in front of Flourish and Blots. ''Oh my..I just really embarrassed myself in front of a 21 year old man. Oh my gosh.'' Sarah said in a disappointed way. All Sarah wanted to do is cry. Trying to keep the tears back, she couldn't. Sarah always took everything hard on herself.

Hopefully she would never see that guy again. Or he would forget in a year or two. Being a pure-blood and only seeing muggles at the train station, you'd expect that. But Sarah didn't know. That would normally curiosity but to Sarah, that was the first insult she'd ever made. '' Why Why Why... I would understand if Aiden would scold me.'' Sarah said between sobs.

[Kia Brightstar]

Kia laughed at Sarah's apparent nervousness. "Sarah, relax. And don't you dare act like a mute! I am not doing all the talking." Kia elbowed Sarah discreetly when the boy came back, signaling fr her to talk, and sighed in relief when Sarah didn't follow through on her promise to stay silent. It would have been awkward carrying on the conversation without help. Kia snorted with laughter at her friends question, clapping a hand over her mouth so she wouldn't appear rude by laughing. Kia shoved past the boy and almost knocked over the table in her haste to hurry after Sarah. She turned around just in time to stall the boys protest, holding up a hand firmly. "No. Goodbye Adrian." Kia ran out of The Three Broomsticks, trying to catch up to Sarah and barely heard the yelled "It's Aiden!" behind her.

Kiana sat down by Sarah, pulling her into a comforting hug. "Sarah, its alright. Its ok. Don't worry about it." Kia tried to soothe her friend quietly, treating Sarah as she would treat her younger sister. Kia was well used to comforting crying girls and although Kaelae was several years younger than Sarah, the concept was the same. "Sarah," Kia tipped Sarah's face upward to look in her eyes calmly, "you did not embarrass yourself. I thought it was hilarious and I wish that I'd said it myself. You just said what both of us were thinking. Its nothing to be ashamed of." Kia stood up and brushed some dirt off her skirt before holding a hand out to Sarah. "Come on, lets get a Beltane dress for you and your sister's birthday present. Then we can go to Catalina's Cubby and have something to eat. I don't know if you've been in there but I haven't and I'm rather curious." Kia grinned at her warmly, trying to make her forget about the unfortunate incident with the boy from the Three Broomsticks. Boys weren't important enough to dwell on for a long time, especially not that idiotic boy.

Sarah was crying for what seemed like hours, Kia came rushing to her. After being comforted Sarah started to smile. " My sister would never rush like that for me. She wouldn't even come to comfort me. Well actually I've never been comforted by anyway. But , of course you expect that from a Slytherin you know. I don't know why I'm even going to buy her a birthday present anyway. I wish I had a sister that would rush to me and comfort me like you do." Sarah said.

" I've decided something... let's not waste my knuts and sickles for her birthday present. It's not like she buys me birthday presents anyway." Sarah said while giggling for some reason. '' Come on, let's go to Catalina's cubby and check it out. That was actually funny what i asked though. I guess i worry to much about everyone's feelings more than my curiosity." Sarah said slowly cheering up.

" I hope they have chocolate!!" Sarah said giggling. " How did Aiden act after my questions anyway, Kia? Did he get mad or start crying or what? It would be funny for someone crying for that at his age anyway though! I hope he reacted funny."Sarah said.

Kia grinned as Sarah started to smile, the worst was over now that the tears had stopped. In Kia's experience, when the tears were over the sadness soon passed. "Well it sounds like you have a mean sister. But no, I wouldn't expect that from a Slytherin. Some Slytherins happen to be nice, you know." Kia almost glared at Sarah but checked herself just in time. Most Gryffindors were prejudiced against Slytherins, thats just the way it was. "You have a younger sister, right?" Kia waited for Sarah's nod before continuing, "so you have to treat her like you wanted your older sister to treat you. Be nice to her and spoil her. It sometimes feels better than being spoiled yourself when you see the look of pure delight on her face."

"All right, but I do think that you should buy her something. Just something small. Who knows, she might feel bad for treating you the way she does." Kia shrugged and smiled slightly. It was always better to be nice to someone who was mean to you, nothing ever confused them as much. "Aiden. Well, he just sat there and stared at your seat. I don't think he could believe what you said. But who cares about him. We have one amazing present to buy for your sister. Then we can buy chocolate and stuff from the Cubby. Agreed?" Kia lifted an eyebrow sternly; her words may have been posed as a question but she made it clear that the only answer acceptable was a 'yes'. Fighting between families was wrong and especially between siblings. Sisters or brother were there to help each other and comfort each other; not argue, fight and be mean to each other.

" I guess we should buy Wendy a present... but a small one like a bag of candy from Catalina's cubby. Slytherins are mean to me. Wendy tells everyone to pick on me the most. But you get used to it after 3 years of it you know. But come on , to Catalina's cubby we go!!!.

"Alright. I'm sure your sister isn't as bad as you seem to think though. Maybe she's just jealous?" Kia shrugged and smiled, allowing Sarah to drag her towards the Cubby. "And if she picks on you when I'm there then she won't get away with it. Three years or no, she isn't picking on one of my friends while I'm watching!" Kia brushed her hair away from her face with her free hand and laughed, the day was turning out to be more eventful then she'd expected. First the boy in the Three Broomsticks, then comforting Sarah and now picking out a present for Sarah's hated older sister. It wasn't the most thrilling activity but it certainly beat sitting in the common room, doing homework.

Catalina's Cubby. This was a new place that had only been set up this year as far as Walden knew. And very popular with the students too, it appeared. A trendy place to spend your free time. There were two young girls about to enter it now, but as Walden came up the street, leaving his trail of fire and destruction behind him, he blasted them backwards against the door of the shop using 'Reducto.' He regarded them both for a moment, making sure they'd remember his cold stare, even through any pain he might have caused them already. A quick 'Stupefy' to knock the both of them out was all he bothered with in the end before he carried on down the street. He would have to return to that goblin soon enough, to check it still had things under control, but for now he was rather enjoying this. It had been a while since he'd had the chance to just be cruel for the sake of it.
