Hogsmeade was filled with students newly arrived to Hogwarts for the new year. Joyful conversations rang out in the warm air as the students and teachers alike roamed about enjoying the last breaths of summer. Birds sang softly and the tinkle of bells in various store doorways added to the chorus of voices ringing merrily in the town. A local street performer was singing softly and several students were enjoying the music. One student had begun to sink down further on her bench as the warmth and song stole over her. Suddenly a loud clamor broke the spell of the music and the half-asleep student almost fell off of her bench. The birds stopped singing ad the street performer shot an unpleasant look over her shoulder as the sound of several heavy textbooks slamming into the pavement echoed around the center square. All heads turned for a moment to the source of this commotion to find Illiya scrambling around on her knees, desperately trying to catch several rolls of parchment before they flew away. Her messy bun of curly brown hair had let slip a few rogue tendrils which now hung in her face as if to spite her efforts to see. She swiped at them absently as she rushed about, trying to collect the books she’d let slip. Her arms were over laden with a myriad of heavy tomes already; small pieces of parchment were sticking out from between their pages like fleeing refugees, rustling as they tried to catch the breeze and break free.
Illiya’s thin silver glasses slipped down her nose another fraction of an inch and her eyes crossed as she looked at them. Her hands were filled with parchment which prevented her from pushing them back up, Illiya tried leaning her head back, hoping they would simply slide back up with a little help from gravity. Suddenly two people appeared before her as she crouched on the ground with her head thrown back. The two people became one as her eyes uncrossed and focused, revealing a young Ravenclaw Illiya guessed must be around the same age. The girl looked friendly enough as she stood over Illiya but Illiya opted on the safe side anyway and hurried to apologize to the slightly blurry girl before her. “Uh..oh…I’m…I’m so sorry. I just…they got away from me.” She stuttered lamely

Terra slipped through the crowd of people quickly, stepping on a few feet in the process. "Excuse me! Pardon! I need to get through!" she called although the crowd pretended to be deaf. She slipped through to big, beefy men just barely before running straight into a small lady, knocking her to the ground. Terra looked around before crouching next to the elderly lady, her face shinning with embarrassment. "I'm so sorry.....Please, let me help you up." she held out her hand and the lady tugged on it to retrieve her balance and posture. She didn't say anything but instead wobbled off. Terra tried to remain calm as she looked over the crowd again. Where had her mother gone? She had lost her in this huge crowd and now she was no where to be seen. Terra ran through the lush grass besides the shops, the sparkling dew attaching to her sneakers. She stopped to lean over and catch her breath. Her side ached with the cramps of running and her face shinned with sweat. How far had she ran? She decided to stop and stay where she was. After all, wasn't that what muggles were always saying if they lost their children? That's what her mommy had taught her. She looked around for a sanctuary of some kind but instead spotted a girl on the ground with a number of books and parchment. She hurried over to her, wondering if the girl had hurt herself. From the way she was crouching.....it looked extremely odd.
"Are you alright?" Terra asked after the girl had finished her broken down sentences. She seemed rather embarrassed and also sorry. Terra smiled down at her while reaching her arm down so if the girl wanted to grab on, she could. "What are you doing down there anyway?: Terra looked around at their surroundings. A singer was playing a soft tune and the birds were playing their own music in their nests on the high trees. Terra then turned back to the girl, deciding she should introduce herself. "I'm Terra Carlson, a Ravenclaw fourth year."

“Oh…uh…hi. I’m Illiya. Illiya Jenkins.” She stammered as she made a weak attempt to shift the books in her arms and offer her hand to Terra; the attempt almost cost her balance and she quickly scrambled to stay on her feet. Illiya Finally stood up and looked forlornly at the one remaining book still on the ground as she distracted said, “Gryffindor, 4th year.” She glanced back up at Terra. “I’m ok,” she said as a shy smile spread across her features, “thank you. Um…could you….?” She looked down at the book and nudged it with her toe. “Please?”
The crowd around her had resumed its lazy afternoon and Illiya was glad the spot light was not on her anymore. She had picked up some very interesting books and was already doing some extra studies for this year's classes. ‘I always seem to need a head start just to keep up,’ Illiya thought. “One too many books,” she muttered in embarrassment, “they keep getting away.”

Terra smiled as the girl introduced herself as Illiya Jenkins, after much stammering, that is. She watched with a friendly look as she attempted to help herself up but almost lost her balance in the process. Terra wanted to laugh but held back; it would be mean to laugh at her like that. After all, they had just met and she didn't want to ruin Illiya's thoughts on her. Mostly when someone meets a new person, it's a good impression but sometimes, like if a Gryffindor meets a Slytherin, it's not such a good impression. Things like that happen, and Terra didn't want to make a bad one on Illiya. So, she held back her peals of laughter by biting her lip. She reached down a retrieved the book, putting it carefully on top of the pile in Illiya's arms.
"Do you like to read or are you studying today?" Terra asked, looking very interested in the matter. She tried to glimpse a few of the titles but she couldn't get a chance to read the whole thing. She looked up and smiled as Illiya muttered another random apology. "No need to apologize." Terra said, raising her hand up to block any farther excuses. She then let a grin split her lips and she shook her head. "Some books have a way of getting off, don't they?" she asked but not in a mean fashion. She directed Illiya to the nearest table and sat down, waiting for her to follow suit. Terra put a stray strand of red hair behind her ear and out of her eyes quickly before looking up at her. "What brings you to Hogsmeade today?" she asked casually, hoping to strike up a friendly conversation.

Rosaliz was outside of Hogsmeade gripping her older aunt’s hand tight. She didn’t want to lose her no matter what. Especially since she was afraid to loose her aunt in death, just like her parents or even worse, to encounter Monica in her trip there. She had her hair braided into two-French braids on each side of her head. She was wearing a white t-shirt and flip-flops with a denim jean skirt. She continued walking with her aunt, named Marybell, making there way to the three broomsticks. But before they reached it, they reached a spot a local street performer was singing softly. Rosaliz let go off her aunt’s hand, griping her own hands in excitement. She started to dance a bit, with the slow steady beat.
Then all in a sudden a loud clamor broke, when this girl dropped some books to the ground. Rosaliz wanted to go help, so she turned around to ask her aunt if she would walk over there with her and to help, the girl out. But when she turned around her aunt wasn’t there. Rosaliz moved threw the crowd looking for her aunt but couldn’t find, her. This, time tears came to her eyes, and started to roll down her checks. She wasn’t usually like a baby crying for every little thing but she was afraid that she’d lose her aunt forever. 'Maybe she’s at a table drinking a smoothie waiting for me or something’ she thought.
Rosaliz ran towards the outside tables. She didn’t see her aunt’s face anywhere but she spotted to young girls that looked very generous. Rosaliz walked up to them and then said “excuse me, sorry to bother you but I need help I lost my Aunt.” She said. Her last words sounded quite muffled since she started to sob very hard again.

Illiya watched as Terra kindly swept down to get her lost book. As the newest weight was added to the pile, Illiya’s face became all but lost behind the mound of frayed spines and dog-eared pages. She peered up over the latest edition to the load in her arms and smiled gratefully at Terra, though she doubted highly that Terra could see it. As Terra questioned her about the myriad of titles still clutched in her arms, Illiya attempted to use the corner of one book to shove her runaway glasses back onto the bridge of her nose. “Uh..studying,” she said softly, “I always think it’s good to get a head start, you know?” Illiya followed Terra to a nearby table and with a great sigh of relief set her burden down on its marred surface, careful to avoid the recent addition of Drooble’s Best Blowing gum which, with the help of some uncaring student, had found its way onto the table’s top. As she laid the burden of books down, the small rickety table groaned its protest and the wrought iron legs were forced to spread just a little to handle the weight. Illiya looked up at Terra and wiped a small trail of sweat from her brow. “Thanks again,” she said brightly, lowering herself into the chair opposite Terra. “I’m in Hogsmeade to get a few last minute things since Diagon Alley is sort of out of the question right now. Mum doesn’t feel its safe there but then again, where is safe right now?” She seemed a little sad at the last comment and quickly changed the subject. “So, um…what brings you here? What house are you in? Which classes are you taking?” The questions rattled off her tongue fairly quickly and Illiya stopped herself before she got carried away. Instead, she simply offered a shy smile and waited for an answer.
Suddenly a younger girl came up to their table and looked at them both forlornly. “Excuse me, sorry to bother you but I need help I lost my Aunt.” The young girl before them broke down into sobs and Illiya’s heart ached for her. The poor thing was obviously scared and an overwhelming urge to protect her came over Illiya. As the oldest of 3, she was used to caring for siblings and she jumped up to put a comforting hand on the newcomer’s shoulder. “Shh, shh, it’s ok. Don’t cry. We’ll help you find her.” Illiya glanced back at Terra to make sure she hadn’t made a mistake by volunteering the other girl’s assistance. Looking back down at The quietly trembling figure before her Illiya offered a brave smile and said “Now, let’s start with your name and your Aunt’s name, then we’ll go from there. I’m sure she’s just fine and we’ll find her in no time.”
