Life at the Cubby ( Employees )

Early mornings were quite dull and Savannah had awoken early this morning. A bit of a storm was moving through and a loud burst of thunder had woken her up a full hour before she had intended to wake. So she dressed and cooked herself a nice microwaved breakfast rather than the usual quick bowl of cereal, yet she still had plenty of time. A full hour before the Cubby would open, Savannah grabbed her skateboard and apparated away to the Cubby.

"Lumos" Savannah said as she found herself in the pitch black Cubby. She quickly found the lamps and in no time the whole store was lit up and ready for customers. She next used her wand to slide several displays against the wall and then moved a few tables and chairs to the center of the store along with the staff door and in a matter of minutes had created a series of ramps in the middle of the store. Savannah then set her skateboard down and sped up the first ramp and did a small jump off but stopped short of the 2nd ramp, it was simply too quiet. In her backpack she took out a music crystal and went to the store's Mega Wireless and inserted her crystal and turned the set on. The normal assorted music the store played was soon replaced and Savannah hit the volume dial several times until her tunes were booming throughout the store.

Now with the proper atmosphere Savannah returned to her skateboard and took the ramps and jumps at full force as the clock read 35 minutes until the store would open.

10 boxes of Wireless crystals, check, 1 box of Quidditch Robes, check, 2 boxes of stationary, check, 5 bags of sugar, check, 2 bags of chocolate powder, check. Catalina had been up since 5:37 and had been busy checking over the inventory that was to be delivered to the Cubby today. Halloween was this week and that meant one thing, lots of people buying candy! It also signaled something else, the start of the holiday shopping season and the Cubby had to be overstocked on a daily basis to meet the customers shopping needs. The back warehouse would simply be more crowded this time of year but the profit the store turned out would be more than worth it. Perhaps the Cubby would raise enough money that by next year's holiday season, they could be able to have a vending cart in Diagon Alley, then in a few years perhaps a second store in the alley!

After a quick breakfast, Catalina took up her lists and apparated out of the family kitchen and apparated into the staff room of the Cubby. Immediately she knew something was amiss, the lights were on and the store's wireless set was playing at a way too high level. Setting down her parchments, Catalina held her wand in hand and walked into the store to find Savannah riding about the store! Catalina stormed over to the wireless set and hit it with her wand shutting off the music in an instant. "Aye! Savannah! W'at te bloody hell do ye t'ink ye doin!? Te store is goin' te open in fifteen minutes and ye got te place a mess! Yer goin' te haf' te clean it all up and ye haf te get it clean by te time te store opens! If ye don't I'm goin' te charge ye fer te wasted time!"

The music suddenly stopped and before Savannah could stop and turn to see why, she heard Catalina start after her about the store opening, the store being a mess and Savannah having to clean it all up or be fined. "Yeah yeah yeah" Savannah said as she kicked her board up to her hand before shrinking it back to it's tiny size with a tap of her wand. She'd been friends with Catalina since her 1st year and knew full well Catalina wouldn't fine her and that she'd become way too serious since the store opened up. Waving her wand at the tables and racks in the store, Savannah had all of them back to their original places in under a minute. Next she walked over to the wireless set and removed her crystal before returning the set to the store's normal settings.

"There, all done, good as new and look! We've a whole 10 minutes to go before the store opens!" Savannah said as she walked over to the cafe and walked behind it to the counter area and looked at all the pastries, making a mental note of which ones were on the shortest supply and thus would need a new batch baked first thing. "You've got to relax Caty, the Cubby is making good money, people love it but you need to relax the employees aren't incompetent, at least the Ravenclaws. And the others are good too, or you wouldn't have hired them." Savannah shot Catalina a discouraging look before walking over to the racks that held the boxes of candy and she once more took a mental inventory, noting which types of candy would need to be baked and brought out of the supply room.

Heading back into the kitchen, Savannah waved her wand about the room summoning pans, pots, and all sorts of ingredients and in seconds she was deeply immersed in the fine art of magic baking. Various ingredients poured into pots while a wooden spoon stirred them in a constant clockwise motion while Savannah checked off her supply list and made a note to Catalina that they were down to only 9 bags of flour and she'd have to buy a fresh batch soon. In a few minutes, Savannah had muffins, croissants, three apple pies and cinnamon rolls baking, while chocolates sat on a pan to cool before they were packaged into boxes.

The clock was just about to strike 8am, opening the store for the day's business and Savannah stretched and walked out into the store on her way to the post area to check on any mail orders that had arrived during the night.
