Tristan placed his ice-cold hands into the pockets of his jeans and wished his cloak would block out the wind better. He walked briskly through the cobbled street of Hogsmeade alone today, his only companion was his black satchel which banged rhythmically against his side as he walked. A few snowflakes danced along in the cold breeze and dead leaves tubled along the road from the old oaks which lined this particular path. A group of children sprinted passed him, chasing a small blue ball and Tristan smiled wistfully. He wished he could go back to having no cares in the world.
After a few minutes Tristan was in the main street of Hogsmeade and an adition to the dozens of villagers who were out and about running their everyday errands. Tristan wandered why the street wasn't packed with girls from hogwarts waiting to see Darran and the Dragon Tamers perform at the three broomsticks. As he walked in the door and past the rowdy shrunken heads which hung by it his mental question was answered. The three broomsticks was bursting at the seems with excited hormonal girls. Tristan rolled his eyes and made his way to a table by the stage and sat in one of the warm armchairs which surrounded it. Tristan didn't particularly like Darran and the Dragon Tamers personally, but he didn't mind some of there music. Especially the drum solo in "That Night at the Fly-In"
Presently a waitress approached his table. She looked stressed and no wonder with all these girl placing orders. Tristan ordered a butterbear and a turkey&vegetable pie with chips. His stomach was growling with hunger. He had skipped breakfast this morning as he was posting an owl to his parents. It wasn't long before he realised that he was alone here. It hadn't occured to him before, but he wouldn't mind some company.

Terra walked through the Hogwarts door and onto the path to Hogsmeade, her high-heels tapping. She smiled slightly as Hogsmeade came into view. Her red hair down and flying around her face. Her dark brown eyes dancing. Today, Darren and the Dragon Tamers were going to be preforming in the Three Broomsticks. Terra could hardly wait; although she despised the over-excited girls that always screamed. She couldn't enjoy the music as much over such a racket, but she wouldn't miss a chance like this. The wind was cold for summer, which surprised Terra. She started shivering and went to pull her cloak around her when she realized that she had left it at the castle. Sighing, she crossed her arms and clenched her jaw to stop her teeth from chattering. Her black tang-top that had a label on it for Darren and the Dragon Tamers, and she wore blue jeans. Not the best clothes for cold weather like this. Her shoulder-length red hair covered her bare shoulders. It didn't help much.
Terra glanced at the Three Broomsticks, trying to see how many people were in there. The windows were slightly misted over; probably because of all the heat that was coming off all the bodies in the little place. She knew that most of the people inside would be girls; she, however, wouldn't be joining them. Terra entered and instantly a few girls she knew came over to say hello. Terra flashed them a smile, knowing that they had seen her so quickly because of her strawberry-red hair. After getting away from them, Terra glanced around at the crowded place. Almost everywhere people were getting excited about the music, which was going to start any time now. She could feel her excitement rising with the noise. Suddenly, she spotted Tristan, a boy in her year and house, sitting alone. She walked over to him, side-stepping the girls that she knew would try to persuade her to join them. Sitting across from Tristan, she grinned at him.
"Didn't bring anyone along, eh Tristan?" She let him know through her deep brown eyes that she was joking. "I didn't either. But, there's lots of girls here. I don't see nearly as many boys as there are girls. All excited over the band players." Terra rolled her eyes, still grinning. "So, fan of Darren and the Dragon Tamers, are you? I am, as you can tell." she pointed at her shirt that had the Darren and the Dragon Tamers logo on it and a dragon. She smiled and settled into her chair so that no more girls could see her. It proved hard, since her flaming red hair was visible from a distance. Right now, she didn't feel like being with girls. She knew that Tristan wouldn't be nearly as excited as them, so she could relax around him.

Sitting in the Three Broomsticks, watching the girls squirming and wailing about "Darren's hot haircut" or his, "great new wardrobe" made Tristan tired and bored. Suddenly the bell of the Door chimed and Tristan watched a girl emerge from the breezing day outside into the doorway. Her hair was smooth and shiny, glinting red in the light and her brown eyes seemed to scan the room, taking in everything in a second. Terra Carlson. He watched her walk across the room in his direction.
Tristan smiled broadly as Terra joined him at the table. Because the two were in the same house he felt a connection with her, stronger than with other girls his age. He was also flattered that she had come to sit with him. She seemed a rather popular girl at school and could easily have sat with the other girls. He chuckled as she joked about him being alone. It was true, though. He was alone. Since his brief relationship with Mackenzie Holden Tristan had realized that some company wasn't worth being around. Even if they seemed nice enough at first.
He turned to Terra and listened to her before replying, "Yeah I like their music, but I'm not ..." He glanced around and indicated with his head towards a group of girls painting dragons on their faces at a nearby table, "... obsessed." He grinned at Terra. "Oh! Do you want something to eat or drink?" Tristan asked Terra, handing her a menu. He gazed into her eyes. They were deep and expressive ... Tristan blinked and lean back in his chair as his food arrived. He was about to dig into his food when he realized her was being rude; his parents had always taught him to be courteous, "Do you want some chips or anything?" He pushed the plate toward Terra, "We could share ..."

Terra grinned at Tristan as he chuckled to her question; she was glad he hadn't taken it as some insult. But, who would do that? Looking around carefully with one eye while keeping the other eye on Tristan, she overheard some girls asking if anyone had a pen they could use. Terra felt her hair absentmindedly, which was shiny and full. She fingered the pen in her pocket that seemed to be cutting into her leg as the girls giggled in excitement as they found someone who did have one. She sighed in relief: she was glad the girls hadn't asked her. Shifting in her chair to get a better view at Tristan with both eyes, she grinned. "I'm glad you aren't obsessed, otherwise I might have to leave this table." Terra waved her hand at the girls who had previously asked her to sit with them. "They, unlike you, I think, have their room pasted with posters of this band. They talk about this band every time it crosses their minds; which is many times, believe me." Terra giggled slightly, before closing her eyes. "Amazing, isn't it, how people can be so different, and yet so alike?" she opened her eyes to look at Tristan. She was enjoying talking to him; she had known him for three good years. Terra grinned at Tristan as he asked if she would like something to eat.
"Er-well-yes. I suppose so." Terra told Tristan brightly. Waving a stray harassed waitress over, Terra looked down at the menu. "Could you get me curly fries please? Oh, and a Pepsi too." She smiled at the waitress who seemed rather happy that Terra hadn't asked more of her. Terra put her hand in her pocket and found a few galleons left from her savings. Feeling their weight in her palm, Terra shook her head at Tristan who had offered to share. "Nah, I'll just have those fries. Ah, here they are." The waitress had arrived with the fries and the Pepsi. Terra handed her more than what was needed. "Keep the change." The waitress walked away, looking happier then she had been when she had arrived at Terra's call. Turning back to Tristan, she popped a fry in her mouth with ease. "Can't wait until they start. Don't worry, I'm not some crazy fan." Terra laughed merrily before taking a drink of Pepsi. "But really, they are quite good. Aren't they going to start soon?" Her brown eyes gazed at him for a few moments before turning back to the food. She was still grinning rather stupidly, but she was very happy that she had found someone not crazy with excitement and someone she could actually relate to. She pushed the fries over to him. "Like some?" she asked, her mouth almost stuffed with as much food that could fit. Struggling to overcome another fit of giggles, Terra swallowed her food and laughed. "Sorry for my lack of manners. I have seven brothers, you know, and no sisters."
