Fiona sat at a table in the Three Broomsticks reading her latest book on potions. She had a flair for the topic and wasn't exactly sure why. She could make some potions that 7th years couldn't even make. She couldn't help it, she just knew what she was doing. Of course, she was like that in most subjects. She felt that knowledge was power and she wanted power. She was never seen without a book in her hand. Always reading or studying or practicing. Maybe it was because she loved to learn or the fact that she didn't have any real friends other than her cat Dottie.
Fiona put the book down and took a drink of her Butterbeer. Looking around the pub she couldn't help but ease drop on a few conversations around her, but gave up when they weren't that interesting.
Fiona smiled to herself as she thought about how much space her parents had begun to give her this summer. She would normally not be allowed to go anywhere without them, but they had allowed her to come to Hogsmeade by herself. Of course they weren't in Ireland either, they were staying at Fiona's uncle's manor in London. On the other hand, the argument that Fiona had had with her parents the moment she got back from Hogwarts could have been the reason. Fiona had been so angry at them for the way she had been raised. After the attack on some students in the Lounge Fiona had begun to rethink everything she knew about the Dark Lord and his followers. She wasn't sure if she wanted to follow in her parents footsteps and it began an argument between them, a rift between the only people Fiona had ever really cared for. It was tearing at her heart, but she knew that if she didn't fight them about this whole pureblood thing then she would never feel happy.
Fiona sighed and looked back down at her book and smiled at the title of the next potion: 'Draught of Living Death'. She began to read the ingredients as she took another drink of her Butterbeer.

"What do you mean 'no refunds'?!" Kori Williams shrieked as she threw the silk blouse at the store clerk. The man was now red with rage and he placed his hands on the glass counter and looked Kori squarely in the eye. His blond mustache was twitching uncontrollably and he had a vein in his neck that was popping out at a weird rhythm. Kori made a face of digust, but kept her stand and waited; "Well?!" She shrieked again. The store keeper took the blouse and stepped out from behind the glass counter. He shoved the blouse into Kori's hands and stated, "No refunds means what it sounds like! Take this blouse and mend it!" He then wobbled to the back of the room. Kori shrieked in outrage and stomped out of the forsaken shop. The warmth hit her face and she walked over to the Three Broomsticks with such rage that she was sure people were walking away from her and not the trash underneath the jokeshop.
"No refunds! NO REFUNDS!" Kori kicked at a chair and was scolded sharply by Madame Rosmerta. Kori merely rolled her eyes and walked to the bar. She ordred a oak-matured mead and leaned against the bar, her knee bent inward slowly so she could take pressure off her feet. She adored her three inch heeled boots, but honestly- not for a day in hogsmeade. Kori flipped her golden hair over her shoulder and smirked as her oak-matured mead was handed to her, "Thanks much." She said sarcastically, collapsing into a chair. She let her eyes wander around the Three Broomsticks and stop on a girl reading a book. Kori raised her eyebrow, took a sip of her mead and walked over. She put her foot up on an empty chair and looked at the girl slightly, "Potions. What are you a third year? And you're reading a potions book meant for sixth years?" She asked with a bemused glint in her eye.

Fiona heard the door to the Three Broomsticks open and recognized the girl that entered. She was unsure of her name, but knew that she was in Slytherin. Fiona went back to her reading before a voice interrupted her "Potions. What are you a third year? And you're reading a potions book meant for sixth years?" Fiona looked up from her book and at the girl looking down at her. She was older than her by a year or so. Fiona closed her book and smiled politely at the girl.
"I'll be in my 4th year this coming fall and potions just happens to be one of my many talents. I'm Fiona O'Reilly," Fiona said as she stressed the O'Reilly part. The name was one that demanded respect due to its pureblood origin. The name had been carried down to purebloods for thousands of years. Fiona extended her hand to the girl to shake. The girl could prove to be an interesting conversationalist.
"Have a seat if you would like. I'm not expecting anyone else." Fiona gestured to the chair across the table. She didn't know the girl too well, had seen her around a bit in their common room back at Hogwarts, but knew little about her. Fiona took another sip of her Butterbeer as she thought about the last potion she had read about. Bringing herself back into reality she set the Butterbeer back on the table with a little more force then intended and received a scowl from Madam Rosmerta. Fiona shrugged in her direction and looked back at the girl.

"Well, aren't you special?" Kori asked, drawling only the slightest on the word 'special.' When the girl introduced herself as Fiona O'Reilly, Kori couldn't help but smirk at her emphasis of her last name. She pulled out the chair and sat down, perching her feet on the table, tilting her head and stressing her own name; "Williams, Kori Williams." She smiled smuggly and looked at the book Fiona held, she would be taking that class next year and Kori was rather- she wasn't sure if 'ecstatic' was the right word to use, but it was the only one that came to mind, "Right, so you're some sort of special smart child who is marvelous at potions? Your parents fawn over you and give you anything you want as long as you exceed their expectations?" She asked sourly, yet with no emotion on her face.
The small thought of that made Kori sick, she in no way wanted to spend time with some spoilt little girl who got whatever she wanted. Kori found much better use of her time, such as spending it with someone better than those of younger years. She sighed and waited for Fiona's reply without the slightest indication that she actually cared. Her curiousity had, again, gotten the best of her- and Kori hadn't been able to help it. She was naturally a curious girl. She 'got it from her mother', or so says every one in her family, but Kori begged to differ on that matter. She had gotten it from her father; and that was a complete given. There was just something that everyone knew, if Arvid Williams hadn't gotten married, he would have been dead- if he were a cat that is.

Fiona's eyes narrowed at Kori's remark about her parents fawning over her. "You don't know me, so don't assume you can talk about my parents!" Fiona glared at the girl for a few moments before picking up her Butterbeer and taking a long drink. She took a few breaths and set the bottle back on the table.
"So, you think I get everything I want? Why are sticking around then? Do you think it's interesting that a fourth year knows how to make potions you can't?" Fiona snarled at Kori. She didn't understand why Kori continued to stay there. It just seemed like she wanted to make fun of Fiona for being smart and Fiona was definitely in no mood to be made fun of. Especially from a girl who didn't know her.
Fiona watched Kori's face for any kind of reaction, but found none. However, she didn't seem to be leaving either and Fiona realized that Kori was curious about her. A smile played across Fiona's face and she leaned forward. "What would you like to know? I know you find me interesting, so by all means ask me a question and I'll debate on whether to actually answer you." Fiona waited to see how Kori would respond to her bait.

"You don't know me, so don't assume you can talk about my parents!" said Fiona with a glare at Kori. Kori couldn't help but smile and raise an eyebrow, "So it isn't true, then? You don't recieve anything and everything you want? Hmm...your attitude sure showed me different. After all, you did stress your last name as if it were so important that if I offended you in anyway I would be put under the Imperius curse. I'm sorry, I must've been mistaken- though I am rarely ever mistaken." She said back to Fiona with a smirk. Finishing off her oak-matured mead, she listened to Fiona as she continued to talk.
"Let me ask you a rather interesting question; how much do you think I care about potions? Or any class for that matter? They are all a waste of time; especially since I am not going to pursue any career that needs potions or History of Magic, really. So, I might just openly admit that you can do potions that I can not, but then again I'm the one with the life and the things that I do out of school that don't revolve around horrid teachings such as Professor Snape's." She answered shortly with a glimmer in her eye that suggested she wasn't in the mood to get into a full blown argument, but if need be- she would.
When Fiona told Kori to ask her a question, and all Kori did was stand up- pushed her chair in and said, "Wanna go for sweets?" She smiled as she wondered if Fiona thought Kori would ask another question that would set her off, but she hadn't so Kori felt rather pleased with herself- but didn't let it show too much.

"I don't get everything I want and if I did I wouldn't be sitting here by myself. And I take pride in my name because I'm pureblooded," Fiona snarled at the girl. It was one thing to insult her another to insult the family name.
Fiona was waiting on the edge of her seat for Kori's next remark, but she was taken aback when she admitted that Fiona was probably better at potions. Fiona sat dumbfounded at Kori's remark. She never expected her to agree with her, but then again this girl was different in many ways then others. Fiona was trying hard to fight with her, to egg her into casting a spell on her, but Kori seemed oblivious to the bait.
Fiona was about to protest at Kori's comment about Professor Snape, but stopped with the look in Kori's eyes. Fiona decided it would be better to not argue.
Fiona sat waiting for Kori to ask her a question, she didn't really plan on answering when she was utterly surprised. "Wanna go for sweets?" Kori asked her. Fiona shook her head and narrowed her eyes in question. "What? You wanna go for sweets? We were just arguing and you want to go for sweets?" Fiona asked in dismay, but shrugged her shoulders after a few seconds of thinking to herself. "Sure," Fiona said as she collected her stuff and finished her Butterbeer. Standing she slid her chair under the table and left out the front door as Madam Rosmerta bustled to her dirty table.
