It was a rather pleasant day. Sure, it was pouring outside – again – but Kris was rather cosy. He had been to the Shrieking Shack earlier as well and had never ran into any ghost, so he wasn’t necessarily afraid. Besides it was private with no one coming to bother you. Having repaired a couch with a carefully placed spells, Kris now lounged in a room that was surprisingly in fashion. Shifting himself to find a bit more comfortable position, Kris threw one of his legs over the armrest and let it dangle there while leaning on one of his elbows and reading. The Dark Elf Trilogy didn’t belong to Kris’s most preferred literature, but it was alright.
Kris glanced at his wrist-watch and saw that he was in no rush. He wasn’t expected anywhere besides it was still only 12.13. Reaching his free hand over Kris took a sip of his coffee and let the book pull him along. It was only about 10 minutes later when a loud crach was heard and as an automatic reaction Kris’s wand was out. He didn’t move from his lounging position as he regarded the person who had apparated into the Shack. He was tall, but rather gangly with his glasses askew. He didn’t seem dangerous, but as Kris very well knew – looks could be deceiving. Besides he was obviously grown wizard – Kris recognized Apparating, when he saw it, so Kris’s wand was firmly pointed to the boy’s throat.
“Got lost?” Kris drawled out slowly to pull the guys attention to him as he observed the boy closer. He didn’t seem as someone familiar so Kris was wary, being ready to attack at any given moment. In mind Kris quickly valuated the room and the furniture in it, should he make a hasty retreat or attack and their locations. He shouldn’t have much to fear, but first he would want to see who this guy was. And why he was so stupid? The Shrieking Shack was very close to Hogwarts Grounds boundaries where one couldn’t apparate. This guy was either a maniac, trying to hide himself or just someone who couldn’t even apparate to where he wanted to go.

Ed skipped down the streets of Diagon alley with a happy smile on his face. Ed had just come from the book shop he had discovered there and had had a interview with the old couple that ran the place. He had received a weekday job for summers at the place. Ed couldn't have been more happy. Ed had also received a owl earlier in the week from Catalina Cavales, a fellow 7th year Ravenclaw. Ed and Cat had never been on friendly terms, but they did know each being in the same year and classes. She had opened up a shop in Hogsmeade called "Catalina's Cubby", Ed had applied for a job there also and received it. Now he worked at the bookshop on weekdays, and at Catalina's Cubby on the weekends.
Pulling this double job duty would ensure that he had enough money to buy his school supplies for his 7th and final year at Hogwarts. Now that he had all his arrangements in order it was time to get home. Unfortunately, in his happiness Ed forgot the three D fundamentals of apperating. Ed's happy mind wasn't focusing on one place and as he performed his turn and disappeared with a Crack he felt like everything had performed well. Than he opened his eyes. Ed stood in a dusty old shack. He scratched his head in confusion. "Oops, this isn't right." Ed looked around at the ceiling, floor and walls trying to find out where he was. Suddenly a voice spoke behind him. Oh god! I've apperated into someone's house. I'm so dead....
Ed turned and spotted the boy who had addressed him, or more, the boys wand. Ed looked at the wand for a long moment and than finally forced his eyes off the wand and up at the boys face. Ed held out his hands to show he wasn't dangerous. "I...I'm dreadfully sorry. I messed up in apperating. I guess I didn't picture my destination with even determination and I ended up here. This isn't your house is it? Cause if it is, I'm very sorry for intruding." Ed could tell he was starting to ramble so he stood up straight, fixed his glasses, and clamped his mouth shut.

The boy seemed paralyzed by the sight of Kris’s wand that was pointed at his throat. Finally he looked up to his face and started babbling rather nervously. Kris mentally rolled his eyes. “Great, one day – one place – where I expect not to be disturbed and some idiot apperates in accidentally,” Kris snapped bitingly as he slowly sat up and eyed the boy – he was about an inch taller than Kris - but other than that, he most probably wouldn’t stand a chance against him. That didn’t mean Kris relaxed yet. Hearing the question about this being his house Kris glanced at his clothes that were completely tailored and silk. Kris didn’t really understood how someone wearing such clothes would fit into such a shack, but he refrained from comment.
“No, you apperated into the Shrieking Shack and I want to know who on earth are you? So perhaps in the future I could make sure to keep my distance from you,” Kris added coldly – he really had wanted to read in peace today. And this idiot just had to drop in. Slowly Kris flicked his wand, sending his wand back into his sleeve, where he had a special pocket made for his wand. This way his wand was always easily and quickly reachable. Besides something was familiar about the boy. Kris wondered if the guy went to Hogwarts – he might have seen him fleetingly in the hallways. HE might be a 7th year, but Kris wasn’t sure. The guy wasn’t in Slytherin and unless torturing, Kris didn’t pay much attention to other houses.

Ed watched the boy. Now that Ed looked at him he noticed that Ed was probably older than him by maybe a year, maybe even two. That meant he probably went to Hogwarts. Maybe thats why Ed was having the nagging sensation that he had seen this boy before. The boy seemed to be sizing him up and finally decided Ed wasn't a immediate threat for he had put his wand away. Ed ignored the boy's retortful snap, figuring he probably deserved that one. He had just apperated into the boy's life. Ed's face drained of color as the boy told him he had apperated into the shrieking shack, which was all the way in Hogsmeade. "The Shrieking shack?! How could I have missed my mark that badly? My manor isn't even anywhere near Hogsmeade." Ed seemed to start mumbling to himself. The boy in front of him forgotten for the moment as he tried to figure out what had gone wrong.
Suddenly the boy came back and he quickly looked back at the him. "Sorry about that." Ed couldn't help but frown at the rudeness in which he was being questioned. He did admit he had just dropped in unexpectedly, but still he did not deserve this much nastiness. If Ed didn't know any better. This boy was from Slytherin. "My name is Edward Summers." Said Ed. He hated using that name. His family was a well known pureblood family, all Slytherins, and many people hear only the family name and assume that Ed is just like his siblings and parents. Ed couldn't be farthest from them being the only Ravenclaw, ever, in his family. His family liked to pretend he didn't exist. "And may I ask who you are?"

The comment about the boys manor made Kris arch an eye-brow. Only pure-bloods lived in manors. It was the last name that went ringing in Kris’s ears. “Summers,” he drawled out slowly. They were a known family. Most worthy purebloods in Slytherin, except for their only son. Edward here. “Do give my best regards to your younger sister. Ashley is an absolutely enchanting girl,” Kris said eyeing the boy with an almost malicious smirk, “Tell her that Kris Graas sends his greetings.” Kris knew this guy. Not personally, but he had heard about Ed from the guys sisters. But there was still something. Kris narrowed his eyes and tried to recall what. “And you’re the guy onto who Dana dumped a bucket of water once,” Kris finally made some kind of a connection and smirked. The bucket story had been an accident, but it was still amusing for Kris.
“So what is someone so far from your family doing at the Shack? Why aren’t you at some dusty corner reading some idiotic book as you certainly seem like a goody-two-shoes, so unlike the rest of your family,” Kris stated slowly reaching over and picking up his coffee cup and took a careful sip of the hot drink as he observed the boy. He had a good family behind him and Dana knew him, so Kris would take his time deciding his value. Even when it didn’t seem very high right now.

Ed noticed a slight recognition in the boy's eyes when he heard the name 'Summers'. This was to be expected but the next part sent Ed for a loop. "H...how do you know my sister?" Ed asked. Ed had been confronted by people who knew his family by reputation, but Kris sounded as if he knew her personally. Ed blanched a little, thinking of how he could possible get a word to Ashley. Well, Ashley wasn't as bad as Samantha. Ashley would probably just ignore him, whereas Samantha would hex him on the spot. Ed looked at Kris. "I'll do my best to get the message across." Ed said blandly. At Kris's next comment Ed became red in the ears. He remembered the incident clearly. Dana had been washing the windows due to some kind of detention. She accidentally knocked down her bucket of water and Ed had been unfortunate enough to be passing at that moment.
He remembered now Dana had mentioned she had a cousin in Slytherin. This must be him. "You must be Dana's cousin than, I presume? Yes, I was the one she dumped water on." Ed frowned at Kris. " I was out preparing some Personal" He said this in a tone that clearly spoke it was his own business. "Preparations. I was on my way home and well. You know the rest. I missed my apperition mark." Ed looked at the shack again and mumbled. "By a whole lot...."

Kris sent a bored glance at Ed, as he started stammering at the mention of his sister. “We have met and got along rather good. I’ll be sure to ask if she received my greeting next time I see her, which should be in a week,” Kris replied making sure Ed couldn’t back out from giving over his greeting. Watching with an amused sneer as the boy blushed at the mention of getting a bucket of water hitting him, Kris decided that maybe it was even fun to see this guy and mock him a little. On the other hand he was such an easy target that it almost wasn’t worth the trouble.
“Yes, I know Dana,” Kris confirmed the fact as he smirked looking at Ed, “Missed your apperation mark? Now that’s not true. Had you apperated 30 metres further you’d have needed up slammed against Hogwarts shields against apperating. I wouldn’t want to do that, but it might have been rather educating to watch it. Apperating away from here won’t be easy either.” The apperation shield would disrupt it as far as Kris knew, even though he wasn’t 100% sure. Being genuinely curious about what the boy was going to do – was he really going to walk further in the pouring rain, Kris observed him calmly. Due to Dana he being somewhat friends with the guy, he couldn’t really hex him. At least not badly.

Ed couldn't help but frown. Now he was forced to get the message to Ashley. Ed couldn't help but be curious about the enchantment that surrounded Hogwarts. What would happen to somebody who tried to apperate their way into Hogwarts. Dumbledore didn't seem like the type to make it permanently hurt someone, but he sure would want to discourage that person from ever trying it again. Would it be any harder to apperate from here? During his tests and studies Ed hadn't found much information about these anti-apperating enchantments. Ed didn't know if it would disrupt his apperating or not.
"Well, I suppose I could always walk......." Before Ed had even fully finished the sentence he finally became aware of the world outside the shack. It sounded like a downpour was in process. There was no chance of walking all the way to his manor in this weather. There was even a less chance of him flying out. Getting his broom wouldn't be a problem. A simple summoning charm would do the trick, but Ed was not the greatest of fliers, not being able to get his broom to even lift off until his third year. There was no chance of him making it in this weather.
Ed's frown grew with each new idea that was shot down. Finally he sighed and glanced back up at Kris. "Well, it looks like I don't have much of a choice. I don't want to risk the enchantment around Hogwarts throwing me off, and theres no way I could walk to a safe distance in this weather. Not to mention the rain would distract me, so I wouldn't get the destination correct anyway. I guess I'll just have to sit around here and wait until better weather."

As it could have been guessed, Ed choice the safe – but boring – way. Staying around. “The ever-boring Ravenclaw solution,” Kris drawled out, “Gryffindors would have foolish stomped out and caught a cold – which actually wouldn’t have been that bad – just cause I’m a Slytherin, I would have probably hanged a Hufflepuff to hang outside the window and a Slytherin wouldn’t bother me. Now you aren’t any of those aren’t you? So what exactly should I do with you?” Kris knew he couldn’t hex the boy – he was off Hogwarts grounds. One spell and the ministry would be present and that wouldn’t be fun at all. Maybe bait the guy to use magic?
Kris glanced around the room curiously. The only couch in the room that looked trustworthy enough to sit on was the couch he was occupying. And he most certainly wouldn’t be sharing it with the guy. Sending a warning glare towards Ed, Kris glanced towards the floor with a smirk: “If you’re going to sit on the floor, then you might as well wave palm-leaves over me for wind. Some harp music woulnd’t hurt either – I’ve always wanted a personal slave.” Kris smired towards the Ravenclaw – sure, he had 6 house-elves and human servants in his home manor, but seeing this guys reaction was amusing.

"Yes, well it may be the boring solution but its the easiest and safest. Knowing me, I'd probably get struck by lightning or something." Ed listened in horror as Kris began to speak of his bullying tactics. Before Ed could bite back his remark his mouth opened. "Yes, and I bet that Hufflepuff will be a first or second year. Any older and they may be able to fight back and you wouldn't want that now would you?"
Ed's mouth closed with a snap. Ed tried to get the situation past his remark but than again. Kris managed to bait him into another unwanted remark. "Whats the matter? I live in a Slytherin house hold. So I know that Slytherin family's have a bunch of house elves running around. I guess you don't have any. Since it seems you are currently in the market for one." Finally, and to Ed's great relief, his courage gave out there and his mouth closed sharply again.
There was a moment's silence. Ed looked at Kris. More than ever Ed wanted to get out of this room and get away from Kris. Ed didn't have to worry about magic, since Kris was underage and wasn't allowed to use magic outside of school. Than again, Kris didn't seem like one to follow those rules, and he probably had enough influence to squirm out of the situation. "Well. You do what you want. While I'm here I might as well take a look around the shack. It's not everyday someone gets to come in here and poke around." Ed began to walk to the doorway that led out of the room.

Kris smirked but didn’t bother to correct Ed. Actually it had been a fourth year Gryffindor who’s and Kris had broken. And a fourth year Hufflepuff who he had left out hang from the Astronomy Tower for a night. The Hufflepuff had been so scared of Kris that he hadn’t even dared to tell the Professors who had did it. For the Gryffindor – Kris had had to pay for his new wand and serve detention. Nothing new there. But it was always better for you if you were under-estimated. Gave you more chances to win.
A lazy smirk went towards Ed’s direction at his comments. The boy himself looked mortified of saying them out loud. “Oh, I have house-elves. But my cousin was rather pleased with one of the 6 I have. You could probably fetch a few things for her. Be a servant for my house-elves. That position is still open,” Kris drawled out lazily in response watching as the boy looked around the room before starting to leave. Kris had looked around the room. The scratch marks in a few rooms were most certainly werewolf’s. The marks were old and the house dusty, but the marks were there. Kris wondered silently if it was the werewolf here that made people think the house was haunted. The owner of the house was a werewolf perhaps. And died or moved but wasn’t able to sell the house.
“Enjoy your exploring. But do keep your mouth shut and don’t bother me with your screaming when you fall through some of the floor-boards,” Kris threw at the boys back coldly before picking up his book again and started to look for the place where he had left off. The Shrieking Shack was old and some of the floor-boards were rotten. If you weren’t careful and didn’t know what to be watchful of – it was a possibility. Considering how tall Ed was he should weigh enough to make one of the rotten floor-planks break under him. And Kris really didn’t want to hurt his eyes with his screaming.
