Maddie walked outside one of the many shops in Hogsmeade with a bag filled with new clothes. She knew she already had more than enough clothes, she just loved buying them! She was by herself, and usually was on Hogsmeade trips, then she usually met up with someone later on.
She walked around to a few other shops, just browsing. "Oh yeah..." she said to herself as she remembered that she had to get her wand polished. So, she walked into Olivander's and was greeted by the old man. "Umm... hi." she said. "I need my wand polished, if ya don't mind." she said. She normally wasn't that considerate of people, but her parents had always taught her to respect elders. So, of course, she did.
After she had dropped off her wand, she had about a half an hour to kill so she sat down on one of the benches, in the shade and starting rummaging through her things that she had purchased. She was waiting for someone. She had no idea who, she was just waiting for someone that was bored too, and needed something to do.
((Sorry, I know it's a pretty lame start, but I couldn't think of anything else.))

Lydia pushed the stray piece of hair out of her eyes as she walked down the streets of Hogsmeade. It was a beautiful day. The birds were chirping, the sun was bright, and their wasn't a cloud in the blue sky. Sniffing the fragrant air, she pushed open the door to the art supply shop. Greeting the witch, she demanded several different types of expensive paint. After choosing only the best of canvases, she handed over ten galleons to the witch and left the shop. She watched as the clerk wiped her brow as she left the shop. That woman didn't like her, but she didn't care. She was always very displeased with their merchandise. Not only could she not just go and get the paints she so adored, she had to special order most of her essentials. She was picky about her painting supplies. Only the best for her.
Hearing her stomach rumble, she headed toward Madame Puddifoot's. She wasn't very fond of the establishment, but it was better than The Three Broomsticks. Many of the ruffians from Gryffindor visited there, and the last thing she wanted to put up with now was a Gryffindor. Turning her head to the sound of a carriage, she saw a very young Slytherin sitting on a bench. Why was she there? Didn't she know it was beneath a Slytherin to just sit in the middle of public like that? She looked like a common girl. Deciding to give her the benefit of the doubt, she decided to introduce herself.
Her heels hit the cobblestone sidewalk as she went to confront the girl. " Darling, you shouldn't linger on the streets like this. Someone might think you are a common beggar." Lydia gave a condescending smile. " By the way, I'm Lydia. Of the Rivers family. I don't seem to recall your parentage, but we all can't be perfect. Besides the point, would you like to join me for tea? I'm going to Puddifoot's."

While Maddie was sitting, she decided to kill time by reading. She was reading a very interesting novel, about a famous wizard. She normally didn't read novels, but this one seemed interesting.
Only a few minutes into her reading, another girl, came up to her. The girl was indeed older than Maddie, and she looked a little familiar. She did recognize her as a fellow Slytherin though. After a few seconds, the girl said that she shouldn't be sitting out here, people would think that she was a begger. Well, of course, Maddie didn't want to look like one, so she took her word for it and stood up.
She mostly did take advice from older Slytherins, because, most of the time, they actually did know what they were talking about. Unlike those other prefects from the other houses that will ramble on and on about what they think is the "right way to do things", when they're really, most of the time wrong.
The girl then introduced herself, and Maddie knew who she was then. Well, she had heard about Lydia, and had seen her many times, she just never actually talked to her. "Hey." she said. "I'm Madison, from the Kenacheak family. Well, actually, most people call me Maddie, it sounds better if ya ask me."
Lydia then offered if she wanted to go to Puddifoot's. Alright, sure, she would go. It would kill time, and she could eat, well, just a little... "Sure." she replied.

Lydia raised her eyebrow as the girl replied that her nickname was Maddie. Lydia gave a sneer. " Maddie, how...common. Well, come along." Lydia walked down the street in that noticeable Slytherin gait. Looking over her shoulder at the girl, she slowed down as she noticed that she was a few steps ahead of her. " It's a great day for shopping, if I must say. However, I get so frustrated with the shops in Hogsmeade. It is so hard to get some of the quality stuff that you can get in Diagon Alley. I nearly have to beg to get that horrible woman in the arts supply store to carry what I want. I should never have to beg."
Arriving at Puddifoots, a man, about the age of twenty, opened th door for the girls. Lydia threw a quick " Thank you" over her shoulder. Selecting a table in the corner, she sat down a flagged down the waiter. " I need some Green Tea, and some finger sadwiches please. I prefer egg salad." After taking their orders, the waiter hurried off toward the kitchens. " He was sure slow about taking our orders. Oh well, good help is so hard to find. So, what are you plans for the summer? I'm going to be going to Paris to Louvre this summer. Daddy promised. Oh, and I mustn't forget Dawn McGrogan's birthday party. That will be a place where everyone will need to be seen." Hoping that Madison would pick up the conversation, Lydia stopped talking for a moment.

Maddie followed Lydia down the streets, listening to her talk for a few seconds. Once they arrived at Puddifoots, a man opened the door for the two girls and Maddie gave the man a small and quick smile in thanks. Lydia walked to a table, and Maddie followed close behind. She sat down oopistite of the older girl and took her order from the waiter.
Lydia then asked what Maddie had planned for the summer. Well, she didn't really have anything. She was supposed to go to Paris as well, but it didn't work out. "Well, we might go to America I suppose, but it wouldn't be near as great as going to Paris. "
