D.J. was frozen! Literally! Her hair was wet when she had stepped outside, and the cold froze her hair into little icicles. She shook her head and most of the icicles broke off, but she figured that the only real way to get them off was to melt them off. Once she had reached Hogsmeade she went straight for the Three Broomsticks. There, she found a seat close to a fire, and ordered a butterbeer.
The fire slowly melted the hair icicles away and she was beginnning to feel a bit drowsy from the butterbeer warm liquid. D.J. smiled slightly to herself at the memories that she held from school and from The Three Broomsticks that stuck in her brain without want. She had so many friends that had loved her so much, and had treated her like a little sister. But, they graduated from Hogwarts two years ago and she now had no one. No one to show her the ropes. No one to tell her how to act. She was alone.
She often found herself at night, lying in bed and whispering Anyone there? Of course, no response came. D.J. never really expected any response, but it felt reassuring to whisper those words into the still night in case there WAS someone there to respond. She knew it was odd. And she frankly didn't care, it was like a comfort. When her friends graduated that's all she had. That, and her journal. And her writings, which she spent most of her time on. Her words were her only escape into a world she wanted to be apart of.

It was so cold outside Judith decided to duck into the ‘The Three Broomsticks’ to sit by the fireplace and warm up. As she walked toward the fireplace she saw a fellow student sitting there. Judith recognized her from class and believed she was a Gryffindor named D.J. “Hey there.” Judith said placing her things on a chair by D.J. before going to get a butterbeer at the counter. When she got back she turned back to D.J. “Mind some company?”

D.J. looked up and smiled lightly at the girl, who she vaguely recognized as Judith. She had seen her around, a Ravenclaw if D.J. wasn't mistaken. D.J. didn't know many Ravenclaw's but, she supposed it was time to make new friends, especially since her old ones weren't there anymore.
"No not at all. Actually, I need some company. I'm D.J." She said in greeting with a warm smile. She wondered if her smiling would be a bother, D.J. had a habit of smiling when she got rather nervous. But, something told her she wasn't smiling out of nervousness, no. She was smiling out of happiness. D.J. was happy, in a long time.

“I’m Judith.” She replied sitting down next to D.J. and giving her a smile “It’s incredibly cold out there is it not? I have always liked the cold though; I find it rather refreshing. Not this cold though, this cold is just a bother. I’m glad I was near the Three Broomstick so I could come in and get warm; I was actually out looking for Christmas presents. What are you up to today?” Judith babbled, hoping the girl wouldn’t be annoyed by her bubblyness. Judith couldn’t help it though; she just loved Christmas. She did decided to try and tone it down though, she knew how annoying it is when someone is babbling and acting so cheerful, when all you wanted was a little quiet.
Judith then moved around in her seat to get more comfortable. She ended up resting with her head on the arm of the chair nearest D.J., her feet hanging off the other side, and her butterbeer perched on her stomach in her hand. “I just love the Christmas season; don’t you?” Judith asked, much more placated now that she was relaxing. She then took a sip of her drink and closed her eyes while listening to the fire and waiting for D.J. to respond.

D.J. smiled at Judith. It was nice to be talking to someone. As she was asked what she had been doing today, D.J. felt her camera in her coat pocket, jabbing at her. She smiled with happiness and pulled it out.
"'I've been doing some photography. All my art goes with my writing. So, I have to take pictures of what I am writing about. It's rather fun. Like a scavenger hunt. Maybe you would like to join me? Though not today, I'm pretty much finished today." D.J. answered with a warm smile and a slight pat of her zoom lense. Then Juditch asked if she enjoyed Christmas. Well, yes she did. But, Hanukkah much much much more.
"Oh yes. I suppose I do. But, I love Hanukkah so much more though. I just love lighting the menorah. It's so...peaceful and it brings the family together. Oh, you must be confused. I'm Jewish. No, I don't just celebrate other holidays because, I feel like it. Most people get that idea. But, it's no where near true." D.J. explained with delight. She loved her religion. More than anything in the world. It gave her a sense of pride and happiness.

“You’re a photographer; really? That’s so neat, I wish I could do something like that. I am so not skilled at any form of art; I don’t think I’m creative enough. I would love to join you though, maybe one day when the school opens again.” Judith said while taking a sip of her butterbeer. She then smiled at D.J. and listened to her talk about how she celebrates Hanukkah.
“You know, one of my tutors when I was younger was Jewish. She taught me about Hanukkah. Actually, I also took a summer course in a muggle school on biblical studies; it did not focus on Hanukkah but it was mostly about the ancient Hebrews and their history and mindset and things. It was absolutely fascinating; I was quite upset when it was over. But honestly there is nothing wrong with celebrating other traditions. I feel it brings people together, we can all learn a lot from each other.”

"Photography's easy. If you want, I can teach you. It's easier then painting or drawing and so much more faster.Actually, I have a scheduled photoshoot, with a 5th year Ravenclaw named Jasmine Anderson. You could come to that one, work some of the cameras if you want." D.J. suggested as she sifted through her purse. She pulled out some prints and showed them to Judith. They were recent ones, only about a week old. And D.J. enjoyed going through them and saying to herself, that's from chapter 6 or chapter 3. It gave her great pleasure.
"I agree with you. People should get together more and celebrate other religions. My whole family isn't Jewish though, some of them are....I don't know what. It doesn't anger me, it just makes me wonder what it's like. I suppose I should try it, but I'm too faithful to my religion. I have this saying, well actually it was my friend's saying, if everyone married someone of a different race...in one year there would be no prejudice. I guess that would go with the same thing about religion.Wouldn't it?" D.J. thought about this. Retracing Tracy's words in her mind as she tried to think of a way to sound witty, which D.J. was never good at...ever.

“I would absolutely love it if you could teach me how. Yes, I’ve meet Jasmine before; I think that would be quite a good time. Just let me know when you guys schedule it and I will show up.” Judith said quite excited. D.J. then handed her some prints out of her purse. Judith was blown away as she was looking at them. “These are magnificent. You have quite a talent.”
Judith continued looking through the photographs as D.J. talked about how prejudice could be whipped out with everyone marrying someone of a different race and religion. “Well, I believe that would work for a time; but what of the people from the marriages that don’t work? They may then associate the negative traits of their ex-spouse with all people of that race or religion. And children who don’t like one of their parents. Next thing you know we could be back at square one.”
"Oh, thanks. THey're not my best. But, they're pretty good. I was thinking, that we could start with stills? No models or anything...just bowls of fruit or something?" D.J. smiled and laughed lightly. She had never in her life taken a picture of a bowl of fruit. But, her mother had always told her to take pictures of anything worth taking a picture of. She was pretty sure a bowl of fruit qualified as that. D.J. came back to reality as Judith brought up the point of divorce. She nodded and smiled.
"Good point. So there was a flaw in Tracy's idea. Well, I must tell her that. So, I really don't mean to intrude, but what are you doing out in Hogsmeade alone?" She asked, curiosity burning in her hazel-green eyes. D.J. never wanted to seem nosey, but sometimes she just had to ask. She just had to. ANd normally she wouldn't ask such questions as that, but she was looking for something to grasp and racism and prejudice was getting a bit old for her liking.

“Stills sounds good. Actually I think that is a good thing to start with. I mean at least a bowl of fruit wont get mad if you screw up and take a bad picture. Plus you don’t have to worry about hurting the fruits self-esteem if the picture turns out ugly. Judith said with a laugh.
“Well this year I have been very irresponsible with my shopping. I did not buy a single gift until this morning. So I couldn’t go shopping with anyone because anyone who I could ask to come with me I need to buy for. Ergo I am out shopping alone.” Judith said and smiled at D.J. “How about you? Why are you by yourself?”
"Well, you never know with magical fruit. One moment they can be still, the next they can yell their heads, okay maybe not their heads, off at you. I wouldn't be surprised. So, I'll make sure to use Muggle fruit." D.J. said with a laugh also. That was an amusing picture, pieces of fruit yelling at the two because they took a bad picture.
"Shopping alone, is definitly no fun at all. I hate shopping alone, it gets so boring. I'm actually doing the same, shopping. But I am also taking pictures, so I'm not totally bored." She answered with a smile as she patted her camera that was next to her with happiness.

Judith laughed at the thought of taking such a bad picture that fruit yelled at you. Oddly enough she believed that she could do it. “Yes, you’re right. I hate to shop alone; but what can you do when everyone you can go with is on your list to buy for? Beyond of course slipping into pubs and starting conversations with random strangers.” Judith said giggling again.
“How much else do you need to buy though? Because I'm almost done and would love it, if you don’t mind of course, some company while finishing up. Plus I can help you with your shopping as well if you have any left.” Judith said all of a sudden talking quite fast. She was anxious that D.J. wouldn’t want to go with her and then feel obliged to say yes. “If you don’t want to I can go alone of course though.” She added giving D.J. a nervous smile, hoping the other girl would agree to go with her.

D.J. smiled at Judith as she offered to come along. The truth was, D.J. was finished, but she would love the company as she took pictures. She also could keep Judtih company as she finished up..yeah.
"Well, I'm actually done with my shopping. But, I'd like to come along with you, if you want the company." D.J. smiled and pulled out a ribbon from her camera bag, she pulled her hair back, twisted it and tied it in place. This way it wouldn't freeze when she went back outside. People who knew D.J. very well, knew that she liked to pull her blonde hair up with a ribbon or a barret, more then likely it was a ribbon because, it was the easiest to find in her bag. She also tied her hair up when she was thinking to keep it out of her eyes. She found it irritating when her bangs slipped in front of her eyes and blocked her view of the problem she was trying to work out.

“Company would be lovely.” Judith said with a smile when D.J. agreed to come alone shopping with her, “Hey and maybe while we are out you might get the opportunity to show me how you get such great shots. I mean look at this one I would never have thought of photographing that but it works and looks great you know?” Judith said indicating one of the photographs in her hand.
D.J. pulled her hair back in a ribbon and a thought suddenly struck Judith. “Hey have you read the ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events?’ ((ooc I'm not sure when those started to be released but considering how many there are I would assume at least the first one was out in ’96 when I think we are playing this)) Sorry about that I just get random thoughts sometimes and tend to speak my mind which often causes people to think I’v lost it.” Judith said with a bit of a laugh.

"Great! Um, let me pay for my Pumpkin Pastie that I haven't touched...and we'll go." D.J. said with a smile as she stood up and walked to the counter, she dropped a couple of galleons on the top and walked back to Judith. Picking up her coat, she put it on and smiled as Judith aske dher about 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'.
"Of course I have! Violet is my favorite, but that is not where I got the hair thing. My mom does it when she needs to think, so I started it when I was younger. It's a habit that makes me laugh whenever I read the book." She smiled and pulled the ribbon out, having done with her thinking and turned to Judith, waiting.

“I'm only almost done the first one but I love Sunny. She is so cute and reminds me of my little brother when he was younger. He bit everything although maybe not quite as much as Sunny does.” Judith said with a laugh. She really did enjoy that book; it was so cute. “My favourite part is where she is biting all the Poe’s shoes so she wont be forgotten.” She continued as she pulled her jacket on.
“The only people I have left are my two favourite cousins; I think I can get them at that clothes shop there. And my brother who will be no problem if we go to Zonkos, he’s only ten so most anything will amuse him.” Judith said pointing at the clothes shop as they stepped out the door.
The girls then headed over to the close store. It was rather trendy because Judith’s cousins, Erin and Nicole, were about the same age as her and therefore had much of the same tastes. When they entered the store Judith stood in the doorway and looked around. “See anything good?” she asked D.J.

D.J. smiled at the thought of Sunny biting Mr.Poe's shoes. She remembered that, though she was on the 6th book and it took her awhile to remember that part from so long ago. As they walked to the clothes shop, D.J. took out her camera. Zooming in on a couple of littler kids playingin the snow, right when one threw a snowball at the back of the other's head she clicked a shot. The shutter came down over the lense and she smiled with delight.
They entered the clothing store and looked around a bit, D.J. didn't know Judith's cousins and she frankly didn't know Judith that well either, so she couldn't pin point their style exactly. So when Judith asked if she saw anything good, all D.J. did was shrug and continue looking. D.J.'s style was more vintage and retro. When she felt like getting all dressed up, it was usually in faded light blue jeans and a muggle band t-shirt, such as the Ramones. When she was in school though, she was wearing her robes and that's what bugged her about Hogwarts...the uniform.D.J. hated uniforms, it sufocated her freedom of choice. Or at least, she thought so.

Judith began looking around the store, picking up this and that. “My cousins are about our age, one of them dresses very trendy and the other is fashionable yet conservative.” Judith told D.J. when she saw her shrug and realised how silly her question had been. “They both borrow my clothes though, so I don’t need to worry about size. That’s the problem with buying clothes for someone isn’t it? If you get the wrong size it is a major insult, too big and they think you are calling them fat, too small and they are anorexic.” Judith said rolling her eyes, knowing she was guilty of that as well. “Plus you get the wrong style and it’s like your criticizing their fashion sense. That’s why I only get clothes for people I know really well and are about the same size as me, I don’t know how to judge any other size. So what kind of music are you into D.J.? Any muggle stuff?” Judith finished off her babbling with a question.

D.J. smiled and picked up a light blue sweater, she held it up to her and tilted her head. She then shook her blonde head and put the sweater back, maybe she would buy it later. Highly doubtful though. Very highly doubtful. D.J. looked up as Judith asked about muggle music. Of course D.J. loved muggle music, it was just something she had to love considering most of her friends were muggle.
"Ah, yes actually. I love any old classic rock bands. The Eagles, I absolutely love them. The Beatles as well, but I don't suppose that is a rock band now is it? Hmm, must find a place to put them." D.J. answered with a smile and a wave of her hand. She shook her bangs out of her eyes and looked around once more, trying to see anything that caught her eye. Nothing really except for that blue sweater, but D.J. would need to come back for that.
'How about you? Do you like any muggle artists?" She asked Judith as she walked over and looked at some shoes.

Judith continued browsing the merchandise as D.J. talked about the muggle bands she likes. “Well I would still consider The Beatles classic rock because they were considered rock when they came out right? My favourite classic rock band though has to be The Clash; I have always loved them. I really like most any rock, alternative, or grunge type band in either muggle or wizard music. It just appeals to me for some reason. Most people look at me and think I would like the whole boy band pop thing that is going on now; but I really hate it. I think its manufactured and therefore horrible; where is the self expression? Plus their sound just gives me a headache, I hate sappy music and movies.” Judith said with a giggle.
“O what do you think about this?” Judith asked picking up a bright red, button down, long sleeve top with a collar.
