Maddie walked into The Three Broomsticks, alone, and was relieved that it wasn't too crowded at all. Maddie had been bored, like she always had, and she had decided to go for a quick lunch. She usually didn't like coming there, because it seemed like it was just crawling with filthy blood, although, today it seemed rather nice in there, not much filth at all. That Maddie could deal with, she just wanted something to eat at the moment anyway, so she didn't plan on staying for a long time. She really didn't have anything better to do anyway.
She walked around the rows of tables, looking for one that was clean enough. Unfortunately, Maddie couldn't simply take out her wand and clean it magically, because students weren't allowed to use magic outside of school. Oh how Maddie detested that rule! She, of course carried her wand around anyway, in case of emergencies, but Maddie didn't really know anybody would didn't. Anyway, she finally found a suitable table, that was near the back of the small building. She sat down, and put her purse down, next to her, and waited for someone to come over and assist her. About five minutes later, a waiter came over, and asked if he could get her anything. "About time!" she exclaimed. "Get me a butterbeer for now." The man gave her an angry look, but rushed back to get her drink anyway.

Fiona quickly walked into the Three Broomsticks cursing silently to herself about the heat outside. Fiona hated summer. Sure she didn't have school work, but during the summer she couldn't use magic, the sunshine was irritating, and there was little to do.
Fiona looked around the place. Not many people were inside and Fiona smiled. She hated the place when it was crowded, especially with those half-breeds and mudbloods. Fiona scolded herself for using such terms even in her head. She reminded herself that she didn't want to follow in her fathers footsteps anymore. At the thought of her father Fiona looked around cautiously. She had been afraid recently that he had someone following her. Fiona laughed at her own paranoia and tried to find a table. It was then that she spotted Maddie sitting in a corner by herself. Fiona hadn't talked to her since Maddie and some other students were attacked in the Student Lounge by Death Eaters. Fiona felt slightly guilty at the thought. She remembered that she hadn't said some nice things back then. Of course, she was still planning on following her father's footsteps at that point in time.
Fiona casually walked up to the table and smiled at Maddie. "You mind some company?" Fiona asked as she sat down across from Maddie. She didn't really want to be alone and she hoped that Maddie would accept her company. Fiona looked to the waiter that seemed to be hurrying to another table and she called to him, "I need a Butterbeer." Fiona didn't care if he was in the middle of anything. She expected some respect when she walked into a place and she was extremely thirsty at this point in time. The waiter scowled at her and she swore she heard him curse as he stormed off toward the bar. Fiona smiled to herself and then turned back to Maddie. "You'd think they'd have better service for those higher than them," Fiona smiled. She may not want to follow in her father's footsteps, but she was sure not going to let those beneath her walk all over her. Fiona was fickle in her ways, but they made sense to her and that was all that mattered.

Maddie looked up to see one of her fellow house mates, Fiona. Maddie hadn't really talked to her since the Death Eater attacks. She remembered that Fiona hadn't exactly been very nice, but after all, she was a Slytherin. Maddie just wished that Fiona would've gotten attacked as well. However, Fiona decided to help Pyro, Maddie had semi-forgiven her. Well, Maddie didn't really forgive anyone, just either forgot about it, or never said anything about it again. "Alright." she replied after a minute's worth of pondering over whether or not to accept her offer.
"Of course they should." Maddie replied to Fiona's comment about the service there. "Yes well, bad service, but it works for now. Well, at least when it's not crawling with filthy blood." she added. Just then, the waiter came back with their drinks. Maddie looked back up at Fiona, as she took a sip of her Butterbeer. The waiter asked if they wanted anything else. Maddie kept her eyes on Fiona, and asked, "Are you going to get anything?" Maddie hadn't really thought of anything yet, but Maddie decided that she should ask her first.

Fiona took a drink of her Butterbeer as she thought about what to get. She wasn't exactly hungry, but then again she wasn't really sure when she'd eat if she didn't now. Maddie asked Fiona if she was getting anything. "I don't want anything at the moment," Fiona said to the waiter and Maddie. The waiter turned to Maddie and asked her if she wanted something. Fiona sat waiting for Maddie's reply. Fiona wasn't sure what they were going to talk about. It was so hard after the Death Eater attack. Fiona knew that she was going to be looked at with some disgust from her comment in the lounge. Fiona brought herself back into the present once the waiter left the table. "How has break been going for you? Are you excited for the fourth year?" Fiona asked quickly. She felt uncomfortable just sitting silently so she made sure their was more than one topic to talk about. She took another drink of her Butterbeer waiting for Maddie's reply.

Fiona announced that she didn't want anything at the moment, oh well, Maddie still did. She told the waiter what she wanted, and he scurried off to go bus another table. Fiona asked how Maddie's summer break had been going so far, and if she was excited about going into fourth year. Maddie raised her eyebrows and said, "Well... I suppose my summer has been fine, but I'd really much rather be doing something else. My family is just so annoying, espescially my younger sister, which, by the way, I don't think I''ll be able to stand much more of her. As for excited about going into fourth year, well... I really wouldn't frase it that way, but I suppose. However, we'll be going into N.E.W.T. classes next year, and I'm not really looking forward to that."

Fiona nodded her head to what Maddie said about the classes they'd be taking. "Our school work is definitely going to pick up these last years. It's necessary though, for us to learn everything we can about magic to survive in the world. I don't mind it too much. I like learning enough, I'm just not a fan of being graded on what I've learned. It would be a lot easier if they took that kind of pressure off of us, but it's necessary to continue to learn. Anyway, I understand what you mean about family. I've been staying away from mine. Although I don't have a sibling so I don't understand what it's like to be annoyed by one. On the other hand, it would be less lonely if I did have a sibling, especially right now," Fiona rambled on for a while and then stopped abruptly. She blushed slightly as she realized how much she had been talking. She wasn't use to talking so much and especially sharing things that were personal. Fiona quickly took a drink of her Butterbeer so she wouldn't have to look at Maddie. She wasn't sure what her reaction was, but Fiona still didn't want to see it. She was embarrassed for rambling on about school and siblings.
Setting her bottle down Fiona laughed awkwardly at her own small speech she had just made and shrugged. "Guess I haven't talked in a while," Fiona smiled as she waited for Maddie's response.

Maddie listened to Fiona ramble on for a bit, with Maddie getting more and more annoyed with the girl. Although Maddie knew that she sometimes rambled on, she still couldn't stand it when other people did. Fiona looked somewhat embarressed about what she was talking about. Maddie didn't exactly know what to say about it. Just then, the waiter came back with Maddie's food. She bit into her small sandwhich and said, "So umm... how has your summer been so far?" She thought that she might as well ask the same question back, since she seemed to have not answered it herself.
((Sorry my posts have been so short. They'll get better.))

Fiona sat quietly as the waiter brought Maddie her food. She wished she hadn't said so much it seemed to have brought on an awkward silence between the two. Maddie was the first to break the silence when she asked about how Fiona's break was going. Fiona wasn't really prepared for the question. Sure she expected something of the sort since she asked Maddie about her break first, but she didn't really plan on answering it. Fiona bit her bottom lip as she tried to find the words to describe how her break was going. Horrible was the first word to come to mind, but Fiona didn't share her problems with people. She took a sip of Butterbeer to stale and then smiled. "My break is going fine. Lot's of time on my hands. I've been to Diagon Alley almost everyday since I'm staying at my uncle's manor for most of the break. I won't return to my home in Ireland until three weeks before we leave for Hogwarts," Fiona said simply. She wasn't ready to elaborate on anything and that seemed to be the way Maddie wanted it. "What are you doing here today?" Fiona asked a little curious to why Maddie was alone and in the Three Broomsticks.

Maddie listened to Fiona talk about her break so far. She didn't seem to be talking much that day, but it didn't bother Maddie very much. She didn't like when people talked too much, and didn't give Maddie much time to. Fiona said that she would be going back to her home in Ireland just three weeks before school starts. "Oh, well, I live here so, I'm already home. I've been to Ireland a few times before, beautiful scenery, but a lot of filthy blood, well, at least in the parts that I've been to." she said.
"My parents are actually sending me to Rome in a few weeks. I have a far off grandparent or something that lives there, and I'm really looking forward to getting away from the family for a couple of weeks. Mary told me that she was going to Rome, I haven't heard from her since the last few days of school though... Anyway, to answer your question about what I was doing here, I was simply bored and wanted to get away for a while." Maddie raised her eyebrows and said, "You know, I could ask you the same thing." She took a few more sips from her drink, and a bite of her sandwich, which was almost consumed by now.

Fiona raised an eyebrow at Maddie when she accused Ireland as being a place with lots of 'filthy blood.' "Some parts have mudbloods and half-breeds, but I can assure you where I'm from it's only the purest of blood," Fiona's voice dared her to disagree and she took a sip of her drink while she listened to Maddie talk about Rome. Fiona had been there only once and it wasn't for very long. She just kind of passed through there with her father once.
Fiona quickly responded to Maddie about why she was there. She needed to stop asking questions that she didn't want to answer, because Maddie was just asking them right back. "The same reason as you. I was bored and I needed to spend a few hours away from my parents," Fiona said as she looked down at the bottle she was holding in her hands.
"So, what classes are you wanting to take this year. I've really want to continue Ancient Runes. It's a fascinating subject," Fiona said changing the subject to one that would reveal less about herself.

Maddie listened to Fiona's answer, and wasn't really convinced, but let it slide off her shoulder, she really didn't care anymore. Maddie noticed that Fiona was acting rather strange, but Maddie didn't exactly care about that either at the moment. She figured that it would either come up later, or she would ask.
Fiona asked what classes Maddie was planning on taking this coming year. Maddie actually hadn't thought of that yet. Well, she was of course taking her favorite class: Potions, probably Charms, Ancient Runes, and a few others. "Well," she started. "I'm of course, going to take my favorite class: Potions, and probably Charms, Ancient Runes, maybe Transfiguration, and I'm trying to steer clear of Divination, since it isn't exactly my best subject. I might also take History of Magic, but that Professor Binns gets so boring!" she said, as she took another sip of her drink, which was now gone. She flagged down the waiter, gave him, her cup, and said, "Another." He then scurried off once again.
The waiter soon came back, bearing her drink, while he took away Fiona's to refill as well. Once the waiter was finished, he walked off to another table. Maddie took a sip of her drink and asked, "So, how about you? Are you taking any other classes except for Ancient Runes? I suppose you would be, since you can't just take one class, but anyway..."

Fiona took a sip of her new Butterbeer. She was listening to Maddie talk about her classes for next year. Fiona smiled when Maddie asked her what other classes she'd be taking. "Actually my favorite class is also Potions. I love mixing different ingredients together. It's so relaxing and soothing to my soul. Just watching the cauldron bubble and steam from a potion. Other than that, I'll also take Herbology, Charms, Transfiguration (which is another one of my favorite classes), Defense Against the Dark Arts I do real well in so I'll definitely take that class, and probably History of Magic. I agree with you on Professor Binns, he is so boring. I actually don't do too well in his class. I mean I get average marks, but my best classes are Potions, Transfiguration, DADA, and Ancient Runes," Fiona finished. She looked to Maddie to see her reaction to the long list of classes Fiona had rattled off.
"Why don't you like Divination? Is it because Professor Trelawney is a complete fraud?" Fiona asked with a smile. Professor Trelawney was known for her lack of the 'seeing eye' and her complete absence from most of the school. She usually only kept to her tower which didn't really bother Fiona at all. She dropped her class halfway through third year. It was so ridiculous that she couldn't stand sitting through it. Fiona took a drink of Butterbeer as she waited for Maddie's answer.

Maddie listened to Fiona say what classes she was going to take, while she took a few last bites of her sandwhich, and a few sips of her Butterbeer. Then Fiona asked why Maddie didn't like Divination much. "Well, yes, I agree with you, she is a huge fraud. However, my mother is quite good at it, and she beleives that I should get into it as well. Although, as Professor Trelawney says to me almost every class, I'm one of those students that 'Don't posess the power...'" Maddie said in a far off voice as Trelawney would. "Well, all I can get out of the blasted glass ball is smoke. So, I usually try to make up a prediction, although she doesn't beleive me much. That's why I'm failing the class. So, I probably won't sign up this year." she finished simply.
Maddie actually was no trying to think of ways to get out of the subject this term. She would probably tell her mother that she was signing up, and then just, not. Well, that did sound a bit too off. She couldn't just sign up, and skip every class. She figured that she would find an idea by the time that school started. She then started to wonder if Fiona had any classes similer to Maddie's situation. "So, do you have any classes like that?" she asked curiously.

Fiona was surprised to find out that Maddie's mother was good at Divination. Fiona wondered if Maddie had inherited some of her mother's qualities. She knew that if she had then Professor Trelawney was a complete idiot. Fiona smiled at that thought.
"I don't really have a class like that. I mean my parents want me to take Transfiguration, but I like it and I'm good at it. The only class I could do without is Astronomy. I really don't care where the planets are or what star is in what constellation. I mean I do well in that class just because I read, but I would rather drop dead than take the class. However, I think my parents are the same way, so I guess it's not really the same," Fiona smiled as she shrugged. She wasn't in the same situation as Maddie was. Fiona was in the kind of situation where her parents chose her future for her without telling her, quite annoying really. Fiona looked down at her near empty bottle. "So after we finish our drinks do you want to walk around?" Fiona asked as she took another sip of her drink. She wasn't sure if Maddie was up for a walk, but she figured she'd ask.

Maddie listened to Fiona's answer, and she nodded her head. "I personally don't like that subject either. That's why I don't take that class, I find it pointless and boring as well." she commented. Fiona then asked if Maddie would like to go for a walk after they were finished with their drinks. Maddie thought that Fiona was going to eat something before she left, but she shrugged it off anyway. Maddie raised her eyebrows and replied, "Alright, I suppose I could go for a quick walk... That is, if it's not too hot outside. I absolutly cannot stand it when it's hot out. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble now." she finished.
The waiter soon came back, and took their two empty glasses, and Maddie plate. The man then asked if they wanted anything else. Maddie nodded her head, and the waiter told her how much their orders would be. Maddie sighed reluctantly and looked over to Fiona, while reaching into her purse, for her small money bag. "That's alright. It's on me." she handed the waiter a few galleons and sickles, and stood up, her swung over her shoulder. "Alright," she said, turning back to Fiona. "Let's go." She turned around, to the door again, and walked outside. She imeditly noticed that it was very hot outside. Maddie sighed, she had already told Fiona that she would, so there was really no turning back now. Oh well, it might get better later. Or they could go inside a shop or something like that, and it would hopefully be cooler inside.

((This probably won't be good...my creativity is real low at the moment. Sorry )) Fiona let Maddie pay for her drink and then stood. She knew it was hot outside and she wondered if Maddie would really come along. Fiona followed Maddie out of the pub and into the hot sun. "Where do you want to go? I need to stop and get a few books for the rest of the summer. I read most of my books before I get to school so I don't have to worry about it then," Fiona explained as she pointed in the direction of the bookstore. She didn't know if Maddie was really interested in books or if she was the type of person who never read at all. "On the other hand, we could go check out the new dress robes on display. Or we could check out the Quidditch supplies," Fiona suggested. She usually checked out all of those places when she was by herself, but she wasn't today. She had no idea where Maddie wanted to go. Maybe Maddie was more into going to the music place and checking out the new Weird Sisters record. Fiona shrugged as she thought to herself about where Maddie would want to go as she waited for her reply.

((Sorry it took me so long to reply. This probably won't be very good either, sorry.))
Maddie listened to Fiona's suggestions and nodded her head. "I actually wouldn't mind going to any of them. Well, except looking at the dress robes. Well, I don't mind if we look somewhere else, but I personally do not like that Madam Milkin's Robe Shop at all. She's low quality, and work very slowely. I shop somewhere else." she replied. "So, as long as you're not planning on going there, I suppose I wouldn't mind."
Maddie then pondered a bit on where to go first, she actually did need a few books as well, but she didn't read very often at all. Oh well, she supposed she wouldn't mind browsing around for a bit, prehaps she would run into something interesting, that Maddie found worthy of actually reading. "Alright then," she started. "Let's head to the book shop first." she finished, while walking off into the direction of the shop.

Fiona agreed with Maddie on Madam Milkin's robes. "They aren't that good and she takes a long time to finish them. You'd think she was doing it like muggle," Fiona said as she made conversation. She didn't shop there for her robes, she'd either hit a store in Knockturn Alley that was devoted to Sytherin attire or hit one of the other robe shops.
Maddie suggested going to the bookstore. Fiona smiled in agreement. She was always ready to pick up another book and figured that she'd have her own library of books by the time she got done buying all the ones she wanted to read. Fiona followed Maddie to Flourish and Blotts all the while thinking where to start looking for books. She'd already read through a few different potions books this summer. Maybe she'd pick up a Transfiguration book, those were always interesting to read. Then again, so were the Charms books.
Fiona stepped in through the door of the shop and smiled brightly. Books were one of the things that made her truly happy. Mainly because she knew she could learn so much by just opening it and reading through it. She proceeded to the Charm section and pulled out a book designed for N.E.W.T. students. Fiona was tired of the younger books that didn't have any good spells. The N.E.W.T. level books were harder, but had a lot more interesting spells. Fiona flipped through the book and smiled. It seemed to be good. She closed the book and then looked around for Maddie. She hadn't seen where she had gone.
