The line inched forward ever so slowly. It was a slow day. The sun was blazing- but it wasn’t bothering Kris, his eyes were hidden behind a pair of his sunglasses- one pair out of many. He stood in line at the coffee and tea shop in Diagon Alley, debating mentally with himself- whether or not to leave the everlasting line and go to the ice-cream parlour- although he was going through some rather bad coffee withdrawals. His better side won, and he stayed in spot for another five minutes. The line had moved two inches in that five minutes. The sun was starting to take its toll on Kris, and that plus the line was making him rather irritated.
There were only a few more people in front of Kris, and at that moment he was ready to curse them in any way possible. But his wand stayed safely tucked away in his sleeve- which was specially made to keep his wand hidden. Kris had specially made sleeves that had a pocket in them so he could keep his wand hidden- with a flick of his wrist his wand would appear in his hand; just in case he was ever caught in a tough situation. Not that he would be.
The line moved forward, and soon there was only one person in front of Kris. But this person was taking their sweet little time to order their coffee. Kris took this opportunity to think about upcoming events. There was that date he had on Friday in Hogsmeade, at the Inferno with that girl- what was her name? Jennifer?- at six. And he was sure there was another thing, but he couldn’t think of anything at the moment. The person finally ordered their coffee (which happened to be absolutely nothing. The person had decided to get ice-cream instead.), and Kris stepped up to order. If that person had stayed any longer he would have cursed them. “Mocha frappucino.” He said rather coldly, he was in no mood for “please” and “thank you”s. Setting down the amount due on the counter he picked up the coffee and headed back out into Diagon Alley.
Kris pulled out a seat at an umbrella covered table, placed his sunglasses on the collar of his silk shirt, and opened the paper-back copy of The Five People You Meet In Heaven. He had hoped this day would be about relaxation- but his hopes had been demolished when he caught sight of a familiar face. It was the face of none other, Ariane. Kris sighed and continued to read, slightly hoping she didn’t notice him.
He wouldn’t mind her company, but he would like to read a few chapters of his book. Knowing that either way, Ariane would notice him or he would call her over- he put his book away and waited.
