It had rained for several days- that could be seen by the large amount of water on the streets. You just had to love London for that- or you’d just die of anger over and over again. But if you’d be a young lady, who just got back from a nice snowing city such as Paris….well let’s just say she isn’t pleased…
“I wonder if London ever changes…like the shopping possibilities, the cafes, the museums…. hate the rain.” Lesire said, watching raindrops as they hit the find. “I should have stayed in Paris for longer, like grandpa asked me to” she said ,moving from the window to a beautiful four poster bed in the middle of the room, to scratch Hally ,her cat, behind her ear “then maybe I’d have more fun than this”. Lere just stared around her room. The room was big, French windows leading to the balcony, from there a magnificent view over Hyde Park. Most of the room had Victorian style furniture, but you could find some modern lamps and chairs, that where beautifully combined. “Mom does know how to style a room” Lere thought. The apartment belonged to Lere’s mother, who hardly ever used it, because she herself lived in New York. The apartment was there just for convenience. You never know when you want to have a shopping tour with your only daughter!” Know what Hally, let’s go out-Diagon Ally isn’t that far away” Hally just looked at her mistress and meowed. “Was that a yes?” Lere watched the cat with a twinkle in her eyes “or are you so stuffed with Marthas food that you just don’t care?” Hally just meowed again and put her head between her paws. Martha was Lere’s grandfather householder, almost a grandmother to Lesire, plus an amazing cook. Hally got more that one special fish delicacy when they where is Paris. “I should have known” with that Lere, put on her jacket and took her umbrella form her closet.” While I’m gone, try not to break into the refrigerator OK? Bye” Lere simply laughed when she walked out” Sometimes I’d love to have life like she does-just laying around and doing nothing”. She walked straight to the elevator and pressed the down button. Then she walked out of the building, greeting the doorman while doing so. “Bye Albert” Lesire said “Have a nice day Miss.Matine” “I will, and do greet your wife and son for me” with a way she was out of the building and in the poring rain. “When it rains it pours doesn’t it?” Walking across the street she went into the subway. 8 minutes later she was out of the subway in a totally new place and before she knew it she was in front of the Leaking Cauldron. Seconds later she was walking among the other wizards and witches in Diagon Ally. “Finally among real people” she said. Just before she was about to enter the book shop…somebody run into her.

Kat closed the book she had been reading with a snap, as she need it and placing it on a little table near the huge armchair, she was curled into, stretched and yawned. A fire was blazing in the fire-place and Kat’s eyes flicked to the huge windows, which showed that the rain was still pouring outside. “I’m still going to go outside, I’ll go crazy, if I don’t,” Kat said putting the book back to it’s place and petting the huge dog’s head, that was half-asleep in front of the fire-place.
Kat changed into a deep-red sweater and gray jeans with silvery patterns at the side and got her brother to drop her off to in the front of the Leaking Cauldron while she pulled on a light-beige leather-jacket with matching gloves and heeled boots.
Kat waved her brother off and entered the Diagon Alley, not minding the rain making her hair wet. Kat was heading to the book store when she suddenly slipped on some mud and falling on her bum ended up gliding into someone, pushing the girl – as Kat noticed – off her feet as well.
“Oh, sorry, I slipped,” Kat said as she climbed to her feet, “You aren’t hurt right? Don’t worry – I’ll get someone to clean your clothes with a spell or pay for the dry-cleaning. Which ever you prefer.”
Kat finally looked up and took in the other girls big chocolate-brown eyes and brown hair. The girl was looking down to her clothes, which were now muddy thanks to the rain. And the fall. “Well, I certainly didn’t expect to see you here at Diagon Alley, Lere,” Kat said with her lips curning into a slow smile, ”Didn’t know you were a witch. Hey, I didn’t know I was a witch when we met.”
The two girls had met before at France, when Kat and her brother had lived there at some hotel fro 3 months about a year ago. “Guess we are destined to meet in rain, where I run into you,” Kat continued with a wicked grin taking in Lere’s appearance and recalling how they had met the first time, which had also involved rain and Kat running into her.
The two girls have clicked immediately and even changed e-mails for some time, until all contact died away, when Kat went to Hogwarts. Kat narrowed her eyes suddenly: “You should be going to Hogwarts as well, right? We are the same age. Come on, let’s get our clothes cleaned at Malkin’s before going to the book store. And on the way you can tell me what have you been up to meanwhile?"

Twenty minutes later the girls were sitting in the Leaking Cauldron and talking…
“…so anyway, I said that he should just wash his ears and then talk to a lady” said Lere and with that both girls started laughing. ”Anyway, that was sill one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, and I was only 7. But as you see I didn’t die because of it, and that’s good” Lere said and looked around. The Leaking Cauldron had quite a large amount of people in it, even many students. The start of school wasn’t that far away so that was not strange at all. “I remember the first time I came here” Lesire said after the laughter died down a little “Grandpa brought me here. I new about it, being a half-breed and all, but it still amazed me. It was morning, and the sun had just risen. You see my grandpa loved the morning, so he would put the most pleasurable thing in the beginning of the day. It was my 8 birthday you know, and he said that that was a special one, so we came here. That was the day when I got Hally. Remember her?” Lere asked turning to face Kat.

Kat and Lere got their clothes cleaned by a quick spell over at madam Malkin’s and walked to the Leaky Cauldron together chatting as if they had met the alst time only a couple of days ago. Kat laughed sincerely as Lere told her about the most embarrassing moment and then listened as Lere’s eyes softened as she talked about how his grandfather had brought her to Diagon Alley for the first time.
“Of course I remember Hally – how could I not?” Kat smiled brightly remembering Lesire’s cat ,”She must have grown since I last saw her though. Is Hally still the active kitty though? And friendly too?”
Kat raised her hand and signed Tom – the bar-keeper to bring her some oranges. “I’m a muggle-born as you know though, so when I got my letter it came as a complete shock. Jake – you remember my brother? - researched all over internet for Hogwarts and this place here, as the letter said that the entrance would be through the Leaky Cauldron. We were curious though so we came,” Kat smiled at the memory and thanked Tom as he brought here some oranges.
“Care for an orange?” Kat offered to Lere as she started peeling one of the fruits herself already, “Your grandfather lives still in Paris, right? And your mother was in the States last we wrote and your father somewhere... in Japan? SO where are you staying till school ends?”
Kat separated the orange into two halves and dropped one piece in her mouth, closing her eyes with pleasure. Kat didn’t care much for chocolate, but she was addicted to fresh fruits.
“So, without wanting to sound too pushy – would you like to spend the last days of the vacation over? We have a new house – I swear Jake got crazy, when she bought it, as it has 10 free bedrooms and a ballroom,” Kat rolled her eyes before winking at Lere, “I could use some company, as Jake is out of country for a couple of days again anyways. What do you say? Besides I know you’ll just love our library – it’s two-story high.”
