Thundering boots stormed up the marble staircase of the Parkinson Estate. Said boots belonged to none other than Pansy Parkinson who was furious. Clutched in her hand was her wand which she desperately wished she could use right now. Storming into her bedroom she slammed the door shut with such force that a mirror on the wall fell to the floor, shattering into pieces. A series of loud expletives soon followed that would be enough to make a warlock blush. Breathing heavily, Pansy glared around her room for someone to smash when she spotted her house elf Lina standing by the closet. "LINA!" She shrieked, "What are you doing!?" The little elf bravely took a few steps forward, "Ssso sorry master, Lina was hanging your new dresses up. Mmmay Lina ask why master is upset?" Pansy quickly snapped her finger and pointed at the broken mirror on the floor, "Fix it Lina." She order as she flung herself down on her bed. Grabbing a white teddy bear she punched it a few times with her fist before putting it in a tight headlock that nearly sent the bears eyes bursting off. "What's got me so upset? That idiot Draco that's what!" Pansy unleashed a few more curses which sent Lina running over to the mirror, snapping her fingers she fixed it and re-hung the mirror in it's proper place. "That little weasel thinks he can go all summer and not write to me!? TO ME!" Pansy quickly sat up and threw the teddy bear clear across the room as her eyes looked for something that could more easily be smashed.
Lina scurried over and retrieved the bear, "Master Pansy, perhaps a bit of shopping would make you feel better?" Pansy frowned and rolled her eyes, Lina always suggested that. However it did make Pansy feel better and she hadn't been to any shops in the last two days! "Very well Lina, get me my white purse, put all my things in it." Pansy then got up and looked at her reflection in the mirror, despite having thrown a fierce tantrum she looked simply stunning, as her parents had both told her that morning. Grabbing her purse from the elf she quickly left her room and went downstairs to the living room. Picking up a handful of Floo Powder she stepped in the fireplace, "Diagon Alley!" She said and in a burst of green light she was gone.
Pansy re appeared in the Leaky Cauldron which was rather empty considering the time of day. Nearly noon it was as Pansy shoved open the door and walked out into the sunshine. Here and there were little kids running around, most likely first years she thought as she eyed them with disgust. Though they weren't all bad, one girl seemed to be bossing around two other little kids which grabbed Pansy's interest. As she watched the girl smack a boy in the back of the head, Pansy burst out laughing, that girl whoever she was, certainly was a Slytherin and Pansy would definitely have to take her under her wing to make sure she turned out like a proper Slytherin girl should. As she stood there watching the little girl, something or someone rather suddenly bumped into Pansy from behind. "What the bloody hell is your problem!?" Pansy yelled as she spun around to see who it was.

Kate sat on her bed kicking her feet back and forth. She was so bored, but what could she do? She jumped up and ran down the stairs to the dining room. Her mother was sitting at the table eating lunch with Kate's two sisters, Brooke and Casey. "Good afternoon, Kaitlyn," her mother nodded to her. "Mum, I'm bored," Kate whined. "No whining dear. It makes you sound like some common muggle." Kate would have glared at her mother, but she knew better. Her mother would slap her across the face or ground for an eternity if she were to do something like that. Mrs. Parker demanded respect from anyone that she believed to be less than equal to her. "Sorry, mum. What is there to do?" "Well, I was going to go run a few errands in Knockturn Alley, but I don't want you going down there. Remember what happened last time?" Kate remembered very well what happened last time she was in Knockturn Alley. A certain prank had taken a wrong turn and she had angered quite a few hags who took to chasing after her. "Let's see," Mrs. Parker thought for a moment, "Well, I don't know dear. I'm sure you'll think of something." Kate sighed and walked into the kitchen where their many houselves were. "Mistress Kate, Mistress Kate, whats can we's do for you todays?" a small house elf named Tipsy scuffled up to her. "Hey Tipsy, I'm bored, do you have any ideas?" "Well, Mistress Kate could always goes shopping, if she wants?" Kate shrugged, "I suppose." After asking her mother for some money Kate changed into her robes and flooed to the leaky cauldron. She stepped outside into the beautiful day. The sun was shining brightly and there was a slight cool breeze. She was walking down Diagon Alley when a dark haired boy of around 11 or so came running into her, causing her to bump into another girl. "What the bloody hell is your problem?" the girl yelled, spinning around to face Kate. But Kate wasn't paying attention to the girl. "Hey, what the hell?!" she called after the boy. "Sorry!" he yelled back to her, but he kept running. Kate let out a deep hissing breath and turned back to the girl she had bumped into. "Sorry about that. Stupid first years. Need to learn some respect, or manners at least. I'm Kate Parker by the way," Kate said.

Pansy spun and found a younger girl right in front of her, she was busy yelling at some stupid first year boy though. Keenly she watched the girl but shook her head as the boy ran off. "That's it!?" Pansy immediately inquired as she watched the little brat run away to some old witch, probably his grandmother. With a scowl clearly visible on her face, Pansy looked at the girl once more, she'd seen her at Hogwarts but didn't know who she was. Certainly not a Slytherin. "Yea.." Pansy said as the girl introduced herself.
"Look" Pansy said as she pointed a finger at Kate, "If you want these little brats to respect you, you need to give them a reason to!" Pansy said as she pumped her right fist into her left hand making a loud clapping noise. "If they're not afraid of you then you haven't given them enough reasons to be scared!" Pansy then grinned as she eyed that little girl who was still pushing around the two smaller boys. "See that girl there?" She said gesturing towards the group, "she's got the right idea."
As she spoke one of the younger boys got away and began walking towards Pansy and Kate with his arms full of his books. "Huh, Kate want to have some fun?" Pansy said with a smirk on her face while watching their prey walk right towards them. This day might actually turn out to be entertaining after all, Pansy thought. She had a purse full of galleons, and a little ickle coming right at her.

Kate liked the girl at once. She had a tough attitude and Kate admired her for that. A Slytherin, she thought, Parkinson, wasn't it? Kate wasn't sure. At the girl's last statement she grinned. Have some fun? Of course she wanted to. Maybe get a little respect for herself and make a new friend as well. Who could possibly turn that down? "Sure," Kate said, "Why not?" After all, what did she have to lose?

Pansy was already on the move before Kate even agreed to the “fun.” The small boy approached seemingly to ask for directions maybe, or help from that bully? Pansy didn’t care one bit what his intention was. He was weak, he had proven himself weak already, there was no way he was to be a Slytherin. He would however learn his place. “Hey! You! Come here!” Pansy shrieked when the boy walked past. The young boy turned around and joined Pansy and Kate, he was greeted by what appeared to be a warm smile from Pansy, but in actuality was her preparing for a kill. Snatching one of his books, Pansy looked at it. “Hogwarts: A History.” Pansy read out loud and laughed as she handed the book to Kate. “Lets see what else you’ve got here boy” she said as she grabbed a paper bag from him and dug through it, “Hey Kate, you need some quills? How bout some ink bottles?” Pansy asked as she pulled out a dozen pack of quills and a few ink bottles and set them down on a nearby table. Rummaging through the boy’s bag more Pansy found a few magazines, though none were to her interest. “Kate you like Quidditch? This boy’s got a couple magazines in here” she said as she handed the bag and it’s contents to Kate.
“Those are mine…” a soft voice said….
Pansy froze, scowled and looked down at the boy. ”WHAT she screamed at him as she made two fists and glared. “Thhhoose… are. Mine..” the boy again feebly stated. “No I think you’re wrong. They WERE yours, now they’re ours!” Pansy laughed at her comment and more so at the boy’s reaction. Putting her arm around the boy’s shoulder, Pansy leaned closer to him. “Now see here boy whatever your name is, you’re a 1st year, and you are too WEAK to possibly be a Slytherin or a pureblood of any value. Get THAT into your head! If you know what is best for you, you will address me at Hogwarts as “my lady” or “your majesty” do you understand me boy!??” Pansy grinned as the boy feverishly shook his head while clutching his remaining books and bag. “You got anything to add Kate?” Pansy said as she pushed the boy towards Kate while she began to stuff her new quills and ink bottles into her robe pockets.

Kate didn't particularly care for the boy too much. He was too shy for her liking. And they needed to teach these first years a lesson. Those older than them were not to be disrespected or knocked around. She looked through his quidditch magazines, but found that she'd already read them. Kate shrugged, "Not really. Just as long we're clear on the fact that first years are to respect their older years I'm good. Here." She thrust his bag and quidditch magazines back at him. She didn't want to take anything from him, even if Parkinson did, but she did want to make an impression to the kid. "Now boy, you make sure all your little friends don't have to have the same thing happen to them."

Pansy watched Kate let the boy go without so much as even really looking at the stuff he had. had she missed something? Looking more closely at the pack of quills she had she realized they were a lesser name brand. "ugh" Pansy said as she threw the pack back at the boy, "not worth my taking.." she said while looking down the street for something better to do. Many first years seemed to have come today and even though shaking them down and threatening was fun, it got old fast.
"This is incredibly boring Kate" Pansy said stuffed both hands in her robe pockets. "Look I'm going to go to the Pet Shop, you can come with me or not, I don't care." Pansy then turned and started up the street half a block to where many little kids had gathered, all were staring at some silly broom in the Quidditch shop window. Going out of her way she walked towards the crowd and pushed, shoved and elbowed her way straight through the mass of little kids. She then continued on another half a block to where the pet store was. Finding it void of too many little kids she shoved open the door and walked inside.
Cages of rats, mice and other filthy vermin lined one wall. how anyone could call those wretched things a pet was beyond her. Walking towards the center of the store she found a tub of tiny baby owls. Peering into the large tub she looked at all the little owls fluttering about, of course none were pretty. Then again the only owls she found pretty were the white ones, of course Potter had one so she wasn't about to go and buy one. Disgustedly she walked away from the tub and towards the far wall where stood large pens of cats of all sizes and colors. Passing up the older cats she ventured to the last pen which had small kitten. She already had three cats at home, but a fourth wouldn't hurt anything, and it wasn't like her parents would dare tell her no.
Though there were about two dozen kittens in the pen, Pansy's eyes narrowed in on three of kittens and she watched them playing. Soon she had ruled out the little black one as it had been soundly beaten up by the other kittens, no point in picking a loser. Next she ruled out the white kitten as it had stopped playing and was now taking a nap, a lazy flea bag like that wasn't worth a pick. That left only one left, the little yellow one. Reaching in she picked up the kitten despite the cries of all the others and took the little cat to the counter. "Another kitten Miss Parkinson?" The clerk asked as he put a little colar around the kitten, "How many do you have now?" "This will be my fourth one" Pansy replied. This clerk was run by purebloods and according to her parents, they had done nothing to dishonor the pureblood name, therefore Pansy would be nice to them and of course never steal from them. Handing over the galleons to the clerk, Pansy picked up her kitten and walked over to the tub of baby owls, a grin on her face as she thought about something awful to do to the owls. As she stood there, the door opened and in walked someone.

Kate stared after Parkinson. Should she go with her? She thought about it for awhile and when finally deciding that there was nothing better to do she walked quickly after her trying to catch up. She had just seen her enter the pet shop and jogged a little ways to get there. When she opened up the door she saw her looking at a tub of baby owls. Was she looking to buy one? Kate noticed that she already had a kitten with her. "Dang, you walk fast girl," Kate said smiling, "Looking to buy an owl?"

Pansy turned away from the owls and found Kate had just entered. "I don't want any of these owls, they're ugly" she plainly replied. "Where were you? Did you find another 1st year outside?" Pansy asked as she petted her new kitten on the head. Looking out the window there were still plenty of people walking around, which meant there was still plenty of time to go find more entertainment. Walking back to the kitten pen she set her new kitten back in the pen, "I'll come back when I'm ready to leave" she informed the clerk.
"So what do you want to do now Kate?" Pansy asked as she picked some fur from her dark green robe. "Still plenty of shops to hits and 1st years to push."

Kate smiled, "Works for me. How about Quality Quidditch Supplies . . . or we could go to Knockturn Alley. As long as we don't run into those three hags . . ."

Pansy rolled her eyes at Kate's suggestions. "One I hate Quidditch, two I've got no desire to go in Knockturn Alley. Someone as important as me doesn't just go walking around that place, if I happen to need something from there I'll send someone to get it for me." Pansy would never however state the real reason for her refusal to enter Knockturn Alley. The Parkinsons had a long history of being very wealthy. So wealthy that money had become the driving factor in the family for generations, rather than the well being of purebloods. Now days the simple fact was that families such as the Parkinsons were no longer welcome amongst those who frequented Knockturn Alley. Walking over towards the door Pansy turned back to Kate. "How about Madam Malkin's robes, or maybe Ollivanders, I wouldn't mind getting a new wand as I've had this one for almost two years now." The thought of a second wand was quite tempting to Pansy for one could never have too many. She'd smashed her first wand in the summer before her fourth year when she used it as a melee weapon against a muggle boy who brushed up against her. Her second wand had lasted even less as she'd been in a furious tirade one night in the Slytherin Common Room and had accidentally sat on it. Now on her third wand the idea of a 4th just in case seemed like a good idea. "Well?" She asked Kate, "Or do you have a better idea?" Ella was strolling down Diagon Alley looking for stupid little first years or goodie goodie Gryffindors to pick on. Something shiny caught her eye. She turned towards the pet shop, but realized that it was only the sun glinting off of the window. But then she saw someone that looked familiar. Wait, was that really Kate? She stared a little harder. Yep that was Kate. Ella sneered at her. This could be fun. A nice little Gryffindor to torment, and probably the Gryffindor she most despised too. This could most definently be fun.

Kate looked at her oddly. She had always thought that you were supposed to keep your wand until it was no longer usable, she hadn't thought of there being a time limit on how long to keep one. She shrugged. Her wand was doing just fine and until she saw otherwise she would keep hers, but the wand shop wasn't so bad. Not like she had a better idea. She took a moment to think. Was there anything else they could do? Nope, she was fresh out of ideas. "Nope. No better ideas. That sounds fine. It -" Kate's mouth dropped open before she gritted her teeth and hissed, "What the hell is she doing here?" She was staring directly at a blonde headed girl standing outside the shop window, her eyes full of hatred. "Ah, crap," Kate muttered as the girl sneered at her, "here we go again."

"Fine, lets go" Pansy said as she turned towards the door in time to hear Kate say 'oh crap.' Quickly turning her head she found Kate staring out the window, once more turning around she saw in the window she saw Ella, a younger Slytherin. Obviously by the reaction she had just witnessed there was some bad blood here. Perhaps Ella had bullied Kate once, or more. Not knowing that the two girls were related, Pansy grinned at the site she now saw. She get an up close view and see if Gryffin-dorks really did have courage, or if they were in fact spineless.
"Problem Kate?" Pansy said with a mischievous grin while walking towards the door. Shoving it open she grinned at Ella, "Ella you know this girl?" She said trying to egg on a confrontation. "She says she's quite good at bullying people now, you should have seen her push around that 1st year a few minutes ago" Pansy laughed with glee, she loved causing trouble and this looked like it would be quite fun to watch.

Pansy Parkinson was there with Kate? Why in the world would a respectable pureblood like Pansy want to be seen with the likes of Kate? "Yeah I know her," Ella spat, "unfortunately." She took a few steps towards the door so that she could see that wretched cousin of hers more clearly. "So," she said to Kate, "finally decided to find some real people to hang out with, did you? About time. All those filthy muggles and mudbloods you converse with shame the family name you know." Ella looked her up and down distastefully. "You don't look as if you've changed one bit over the summer. But I suppose it can't all be blamed on you that stupid uncle of yours is probably of some cause to your idiocy. You, a pureblood, who would even think that of you? I'm surprised your parents haven't thrown you out on the streets yet. The things mother says about you . . ." Ella shook her head, "Another pureblood family wasting their time on a piece of filth like you. How sad. Don't you agree Pansy?"

Pansy yawned out of boredom as Ella started in on Kate. Kate loved muggles? And Mudbloods? That made sense, she was after all a Gryffin-dork. She probably was one of Potter's little fans. Looking from Ella to Kate Pansy simply rolled her eyes and stuck her hand into her robe pocket. Feeling around she found a gumball some little kid had been kind enough to "give" to her. Sticking it in her mouth, she began so smack her gum obnoxiously while waiting for Kate to defend herself. If she didn't, then Pansy would simply have to join in, there was simply no excuse for someone to not even try to defend themselves, albeit even if they do so poorly.

Kate quickly covered the ground between herself and her cousin. If Ella didn't shut it she might have to . . . no she couldn't, not unless she really did want to be thrown out. Her parents were always praising Ella and telling Kate to pay attention to her, because she might learn something, but a threat couldn't hurt. "You know Ella, you'd be wise to shut your mouth now, while your still ahead. Because the next time you say something remotely close to that, I'll knock your teeth in, you hateful slut."
